Right because the only bust in the entire history of the NFL draft was Jamarcus Russell.

Sammy was picked 4th overall, the expectation for a player picked that high is at the very least to be a long term number#1 wideout.  To this point, he has been an average number 2, to an above average #3.   He was the first wideout picked in that draft and to current he is at best the 8th most productive wideout from that class.  Beckham, Evans, Robinson, Cooks, Landry, Adams, and John Brown have all had better careers to this point.   If Martavis Bryant keeps his nose clean he is the better wideout to this point too.

He has been oft injured (played one full season ever), has only had more than 60 receptions in a season once, has 1 (barely) 1000 yard season, and only caught more than 5 touchdowns in three of his six seasons.

Sorry, but he is a draft bust.

IMO being a bust, and not reaching your expectations are two totally different animals

  2. Weak take .... so is our QB an immature loser because of his body language in the WC game?

Youre 100% correct but for some reason people on this board still think Sammy is more than an average number two wideout

If it takes him 12 years to do so its not that impressive.  You need to normalize stats to get the real story.  He was picked number 4 overall.  He is and always was a bust.

Perhaps your definition of “bust” should include some research.... google Russell,  Jamarcus and get back to us.

  3. What ever happened to realistic analysis of your QB?  I realize fans are desperate for a savior and will stop at nothing to convince themselves and others that all that is required. Is another season, or an elite WR, or just a bit more time under center for josh to become the football God that everyone

just knows he will be.  His highs are tremendous, his lows are abysmal and truthfully NOBODY knows what we have in Allen yet ...

I’d put Allen ahead of Brees and just after Watson and Cousins thus far. Brees threw an INT and fumbled. He threw a TD and Allen caught one. Brees has Michael Thomas .Allen’s not better than Brees, but he had a somewhat better performance.

Brees faced a legit top NFL defense. Allen did not.

    Terrible fans? Seriously?

Say what you want about the franchise but the fans are the farthest thing from terrible...

Passionate fans yes, but discerning fans who expect more than mediocrity and are happy just to wave Pom poms and show up at the airport to celebrate wild card meltdowns?  Maybe not so much

He gets one more year to show major improvement.

If the bone head plays and lack of awareness doesn't improve drastically, time to find someone new. He needs to start completing the easy passes to wide open guys regularly.

This team is a QB away from contending for a Super Bowl.

With that second half defensive performance?  there is no super bowl contention happening

Love the fans blaming the QB who had 372 yards of offense and your only touchdown.  Give me a break.   The blind side call was horrible and defensive tackling was atrocious again.

Go and find some play makers.  #17 had a ton of heart tonight.

You’re probably the same guy who wanted to burn Yeldon at the stake for a preseason fumble, yet somehow it’s ok if Allen is a fumbling machine

clearly you've never seen a fucillo commercial and that guy seems to be killing it

Down in Florida he does. Stopped running ads up here - dealerships are barely scraping by in WNY

I agree with this completely.   And McBeane are not about bright, shiny objects.  They a process and they'll stick to it.  They've been patient so far, and they can see that what they're doing is workng.

The talent they have today will improve.  The talent they draft and sign in free agency will increase the competition and improve the team more.  Allen will have learned more about playing big games - Pittsburgh wasn't too big for him, but Baltimore and New England were.

    Step by step.

And that's not to say that they're done for this season.  They're already good enough that, although it's unlikely, multiple playoff wins this season are possible.
