Looking. at the Bills from another perspective.
YattaOkasan replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its a good idea, and I would probably agree except the strength of this draft is on defense. I think most posters agree we should draft one of the top 4 BPA on our board with the selection being determined by position/need. If this draft had better WR or OL talent then we would end up selecting the positions you mention. However, this draft has lots of defensive front 7 talent. I expect a DL to be in the top 4 BPA for each of our first 3 selections. Additionally, I expect ILB, DE, Edge, Coverage LB to also be in the top 4 BPA in our first 3 selections. If we were expecting OL or WR to be amongst the top BPA available for multiple selections then I wouldn't be surprised with a strategy similar to what you propose. As it is, we are returning at least 4 starters on our OL, our starting TE, #1 receiver, #1 RB, and QB. That's a lot of pieces to the offensive puzzles already in place. I'm hopeful that the additional year in the system results in a top 10 (dare I say top 5) offense in TOP, turnovers, rushing yards, and most importantly TDs (I know really ambitious). You're right that in general the defense needs to not screw it up. I think our quiet FA signings plus our draft will allow us to have an above average to good defense (i.e. ranked 16-10). -
Sticky of Bills' moves - N'th week of FA

Do you mind defining Impact and solid contributors? I think I agree but I can't be sure. For me an impact player would be a starter that rates in the top 20 for his position. A solid contributor is someone who plays >50% snaps, doesn't commit any penalties, and is good for 1 TFL/2 Solo Tackles or 30yrds/1 First Down per game. I would be interested to see what the board thinks too? -
He's got me sold as well
-
Did he get injured in that game? At some point (hard to tell where) 64 seemed to replace him at LT.
-
Take him lower. Ahhh yes! I was pleased with some of the pieces (Ifedi, Boehringer) that did fall. Again I was sorta just going by positional need for bit too. I do like what youre throwing down in your tagline. Thanks again for the game.

Thanks Astro. These are my picks Ogbah Kenny Clark Chris Jones Ifedi Kearse Joe Haeg Brandon Allen TG Green Boehringer (he returned German kicks FWIW) Elandon Roberts (Write In) I am only familiar with some of these players so I did a lot of this by need. Addressed the defensive front 7 right out of the gate. Then some O Line in the middle. QB was the one position I think I should've gotten earlier, but oh well. Finally two good sleepers at the end. I didn't see Roberts on the draft tek boards at all (maybe I missed him)

Agreed. Bandit had me sold after that Navy game he posted. I watched another against Temple and he was also very explosive in that game. Would be a solid steal later in the draft.

Very interesting prospect to me. The video is tough to figure out because the German teams are TERRIBLE. If hes there in the 5th I think he would be a great pick but I'm worried he wont be there.

We have the worst cap situation in the league?
YattaOkasan replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not too worried because as bandit said up thread or in another thread, they've gotten every major FA re-signed that they've wanted in the past couple years. We were all sweating bullets about the Hughes and Cog contracts. But here we are today with both of them on deals that look good. -

I would rest easier too if the deals were done, but there really is no rush. If they want 1 maybe 2 more dust settling FA's they should be able to accommodate. 53 + PS goes into affect after TC right? Still trying to get on your level. -

I think you (or bandit) said the cap space for the 53 + PS + in season would be made available by deals for Glenn and Gilmore right? -

I think bandit said we needed like 3 mil to sign our rookies. Remember the rule of 51 -
So less Kujo as an extra lineman???
-
Good to know. I don't think I can handle another Mulligan level blocking TE.

The Bills are doing good with FAs, now draft starters.

I am also pleased with how they have worked FA. In particular the guys we are brining in are young. If one pans out he can get an extension. Hoping we get one 2017 starter from the defensive signings. -
I've heard you say you hope your wrong. Were all Bills fans so we should also be a little cynical. However, were also all sports fans so we have to be a little hopeful too. I'm skeptical this team can do much of anything. However, if the 2015-2016 Syracuse taught me anything its that exceeding expectations is sooooooo much fun. I will try to temper the inner fan in me, but he does like to have a little fun.

To me the obvious conclusion of limiting total yards but allowing points says that they are working against a short field. Thus the offense was terrible. I don't know how else you get such a difference in rank for the two statistics. I have read your point of view many times, and you could be right (there is a lot that you say that isn't wrong). However, I think don't think you're always leaning on your strong points, but try to make bold conclusions without having a full explanation of the data. To me, we just won't know until training camp at the earliest. I get it; you think last year was the crash and this is the burn. Others think year 2 in the systems will allow us to compete for the afc east (I'm skeptical). There is a lot of data for both sides, and you're gonna have to be patient. Focus on something else; it'll help my sanity if not yours. I dont know what were pretending now, but without beating the Brady its going to be tough to make the playoffs let alone compete for the division.

Im rooting for a hidden gem as well. This signing has me thinking Edge Rusher in the first, LB in the second. Certainly a good pick up.
-
How late does this guy project to go? He seems big and fast. I know his competition was terrible (I saw the video up thread) so its harder to predict his NFL ceiling, but he should be able to take the lid off the defense right away. I'm also guessing he can block well.
-
I know the fools was played on us, but to continue a previous line of thought... If he competed in Brazil and then was available mid season for us. Is that really a problem? We would get an athlete that has world class ability, character, and knows our playbook. My point is that if pursuing the Olympics, earns Goodwin's loyalty; then who cares as long he doesn't sign with anyone else (I know that can't be guaranteed).

Thoughts on Georgia's OLB Leonard Floyd at #19?
YattaOkasan replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah that's what I got too. I watched tape from the Auburn game and he had 2 sacks (1 was clean up of someone else). He didn't get too much pressure (usually just ran past the QB). In run support he had a couple of nice back side stops, but also lost the edge a couple of times. Throw on top of that the swing he took at someone and the PF that did get called in the 4th quarter for a drive continuing 1st down. I hesitate.
