The reason I don’t think it’s ok to dog them when they almost beat us is because we had so few reps together when we played them last year. I don’t know that they were much better than us in terms of continuity at that point but I do know we are much better there. So yeah they almost beat us back then but we have progressed so much since then and they have sorta spin their wheels or gone backwards.

Do defenses take advantage of no noise in stadiums.
YattaOkasan replied to YattaOkasan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes my quick search showed that was the only place it was being discussed. Figured a separate thread made sense. McD would disagree with this unless you think he’s blowing smoke to the media (definitely a possibility) -

I think you’re probably right but I like the idea of just an extra layer of subterfuge. -

@Warcodered Yes but words that start with L and R to determine the protection slide is sorta what I mean. It seems easier for a defense to pick up on that this year cause they can pick up better (they don’t have on field mics pointes at QBs accessible to them right?). Do they do a sub signal like righties and lefties for the slide??? That would actually be sick. EDIT: a L/R MLB pitcher call would be pretty cool cause there are so many of them and I don’t think defenses outside of the division have any chance of picking up on it. Divisional games is also probably where this matters the most. -

Agreed. I think there are more than enough smart coaches/QBs that will counter. How do you think they do it? -
Even away defenses are probably gonna find the games quieter than normal. Any thoughts on if defenses take advantage of this and/or if offenses will have to adjust? I thought I saw some more hand signals from Watson, is that one way? Do they switch the calls half way through? do they pump enough noise into the stadium that I’m crazy? the idea of quiet games is still super weird me on the eve of the eve.

Anthony Lynn Kept BILLS Binders ...

Agree this SOP for NFL. I remember a Rex article and they were talking about his Jets and Ravens binders. Honestly Lynn might have picked the habit up from him. -

Imo cut TE and WR. That plan was tripped up by the injury to Kroft. -

Not saying he can’t make the team but far from a lock imo. Literal definition of fighting for a spot versus duke and McKenzie. -

Yeah Fromm hasnt inspired much. I had to argue he wasnt a lock. AND I did argue the same for Hodgins for many the same reasons. I don't understand why hes guaranteed to be scooped up now if he is cut considering he was a late 6th round draft choice. The calculus doesnt seem to have changed much to me. -

Love the hang time on this ball. Arc is so much better than the one on the opposite of the field. On other posts who is QB #10 that threw the duck that was picked off. also I just don’t see Hodgins as a “lock”. He’s been in red contact Jersey a lot and I haven’t heard as many reports of him running with the 1s lately. Duke meanwhile I think have heard running with the 1s -
Idea is their top 3 CBS are all good to very good. That leaves a safety or CB4 on Davis or Beasley. Re: needing good o Line to execute they don’t have the disrupter up front to stop a play and their LB core left for FA or opted out. I worry if we are in a 12 or 11 personnel they can play man and just stack the box so yeah spread them out but still get a favorable receiving match up.
-
I agree. And I think it’ll come at the expense of Knox. Davis is a big body so he may even have a more favorable run blocking matchup. I would think you have to 2 LB out there if Singletary or Moss is on the field but that becomes a challenge to cover 4 WR. I think the biggest stress for running out of 4 WR set is you need the line to really execute their blocks. This seems like a good set against the patriots and their front.

I think Bass to black but agree with logic on Bojo. -
Epensa's hands are so impressive. He always hits that spot and gets dawkins here (means he was on second team).

Gilmore’s absence from Pats camp stretches to 5th day
YattaOkasan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Quick google search showed me this one from Boston Herald. God I thought I had homer glasses on but this is dumb. -
Any other links? Did they practice? Was just Allen boring? Covid Camp is really a bummer but a price I think will all pay to see them in regular season.

Training Camp 8/20 - live hitting in Bills Stadium
YattaOkasan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would think Duke is more likely to be signed cause he has NFL game tape. There is some weakness in it but he has flashed before so I think he would be snatched up quicker than Hodgins who won’t have even preseason tape to evaluate. Lots of teams got to look at Hodgins in the late rounds and didn’t take a shot. So why would they sign him now when they probably didn’t think he would make their rosters in April. -

Thanks. I do find ability to beat out a lot of other QBs in a competition very intriguing. Will be interested to see if that translates to the NFL. -

Generally teams arent as deep as ours so I would argue that bumps it right back down. Being picked up by another team is not necessarily a good indicator of if he'll make our team either. It was in the past cause were werent deep, but we had several players get picked up last year after cuts. We will cut players that can make an NFL roster like we did last year, which means many players that could make a roster are definitely not locks. I think were splitting hairs at this point. We both agree hes likely gonna make it; I just see a reasonable path where he doesnt make the team (he has a weak arm and maybe he cant process quick enough as a rookie). -

I agree QB is a spot on the roster that I am more concerned there will still be claims made. Covid was ongoing during the draft and many teams knew there wasnt gonna be the typically amount of time with players in the off season. I don't think that has changed that much since then. His strength is his mental processing yes, but that was in one system (I assume UGA didnt change OCs) so I'm not sure the league would think agree he can learn an offense quickly (if there was a preseason and he could show this I would be scared). I agree he will replace Barkley eventually (really need better there), but Beane flat said he didnt expect a QB so its not like they were looking to make that investment so I don't think they are that tied to him. Again he probably makes the roster but he is far from a lock in my opinion.
