  1. For a slow/weak guy he has a really good tackle rate (best on the defense by a lot). His man coverage numbers were better than Tre's. Theres a lot of mitigating factors in man coverage numbers though (like tre gets the #1), but hes not as bad as you think. Listen to the Joe Marino podcast on him. He lays it all out.
  2. To that point I found the focus on the negative play of the colts game very interesting. Yes that one play was bad, but they are not in the game let alone winning it if he doesn't play outstanding the rest of the game. I honestly thought the game was over when we went up 2TDs (!) in the 4th quarter. Our defense really struggled.
  3. I think you can add what I said above. If Diggs made Allen then Diggs has to be the best WR ever cause noone has made a jump like Allen. Thats effectively what they are arguing.
  4. Good topic @Inigo Montoya Bruce Nolan discussed this a week or two ago. Basically it boiled down to that since josh Allen had such a historical leap that diggs would have to be the best all time receiver to be the cause. He’s not so diggs didn’t make Allen. This argument loses sight of how historic of a jump was. Wanna say it’s flukey? Sure. Wanna say it’s cause of one WR? No way.
  5. Awesome OP. I agree he is the replacement for John Brown as he showed much better ability on the outside than slot. I do need to see improvement in separation before i book him for 1000 yards and 10 TDs. However, I also feel confident that over his rookie contract he will improve his breaks and ultimately separation as he has shown to be a tremendous worker. Really like rooting for this guy and excited for him to be a Bill for a long time.
  6. Would add that Josh did a ton of work in college to get better. It was moreover that Josh was so raw coming out of HS that noone wanted him. Mac Jones has been playing long and looks like football has been a focus for a lot longer (his private HS was known for athletics). Josh didnt go to elite camps and obviously Firebaugh is not a HS that can be focused on sports. I honestly wouldnt be surprised if Jones has thrown more than Josh despite Jones being 2 years younger.
  7. Yeah I saw you editted out but i sorta wanted to rag on bradshaw after he was ragging on our boy in the Tenn game. His wiki page where it says "Widely considered to be one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time" mustve been written by a Yinzer.
  8. Agree. You had a line about Montana and the 49ers which got me thinking about Terry Bradshaw's importance to the 70's steelers dysnasty. Tough for me to tell cause of the nature of the game at that time, but he did not seem that instrumental to them. His all pro year in 1978 he threw 20 picks. uggh....
  9. We a few games that couldve easily gone either way; these include Fins #1, Rams, Pats game #1. The cards game was the unlucky one we shouldve won. Thats how I get to my floor of 11 games. I said 11-12 because of the easier schedule as you mention. Again I EXPECT to win 11-12 games; thats not my prediction. I think I see your logic on how you got to your number and can appreciate now how you got there. I would come up with a different number but thats really a difference in approach i see now.
  10. I can maybe see it but those are his expectations. Yikes. My expectations for the Bills is only like 11-12 wins (though we do win the division)
  11. Something I'm not hearing mentioned a lot is all the new pieces and how they will come together. This is not something BB has had to deal with a lot in the past.
  12. What are the draft grades based off? What they think our draft will turn into? Clearly with JA17 McBeane showed an ability to find talent other didnt think was there.
  13. If you are claimed off waivers you go to the active squad for a period. This is why there are not a ton of claims. After that period you can go the PS. No time limit on PS before you need to be activated. The highest 51 (or 53 maybe at this point) contracts count against cap. So not most practice players. Bills tend to keep a lot rookies so I only think Anderson will get cut. Hope that starts to answer your questions. It can get more complicated quick. There is not really any protection. Last year you could protect 4 for most of the week but they would still be exposed. Overall not a lot of players are claimed because they need to be on the 53 after being claimed. The positions that are claimed the most are OL and DL which is why we roll with so many
  14. I’m glad you agree Allen is the better player. That’s why I have Allen ahead of Brady in QB rankings. I also agree if you take into their situation which I read as the rest of the team then the TBucs are likely better. Again glad you agree Allen is the better player.
  15. Yup I can appreciate that, and honestly Brady's run last year has really answered a lot of questions about his overall career. But at this moment I think Allen wins both those games (NFCC and SB) as well, and GB as you mentioned might have been easier for TB with Allen. I don't think that Brady gets us past the Colts when we needed someone to make plays. So if were talking about 1 game who do we prefer, I still give the nod to Allen (and frankly several QBs) over Brady.
  16. Brady is interesting to me. I don’t think we win as many games if Brady is our QB and I think TB wins the same or more games if Allen is QB. Do you disagree with this(which)? From that logic I have Allen > Brady.
  17. Why would he take that when he could stay and have McDermott and Allen. That’s clearly the better duo and he would get to call plays. We might lose him but surely not to Daboll and trubisky.
  18. I don’t think Jamal Adams on this list is good. Poyer Hyde are both better than him. Byard also had a down year. With all the pro bowl snub articles for poyer I would’ve thought he got at least an honorable mention
  19. So now I don’t agree with much of anything you said after I did agree with a lot. do you think the chiefs lost the SB because of iOL or tackle? Tackle was my assessment. You mentioned frank Clark. That wasn’t a iOL problem either. So that’s why I wondered why you thought it was such a mistake for us to pass on Humphries (your examples). I now see why your focus on humphries as I agree our iOL is one of our biggest weaknesses (check my posts I also don’t one of Morse/Mongo is here after next year). Again I think I can live with iOL as weakness as opposed to more important positions. My one caveat is I agree with joe Marino and against the chiefs the OL needs to enable us to run the ball better. as for chiefs I think they did good in UFA but that’s a bit of an back handed compliment right? they really don’t have much under contract for next year on their line. Re-signing brown would go along way but he might be close to double dawkins in cap hit. I think any injury (particularly tackle again) and they could be in a world of trouble again. Whereas I think we have backups that won’t wreck the game plan. Re:SB I think we fare better than the chiefs who really felt the absence of missing their starting OT. Our weakness has been iOL as the OP has mentioned so while Vita Vea would have been a handful I think we had a better chance than the chiefs at that point.
  20. Agree with a lot of what you said but this struck me as a bit odd. Most of the points you mentioned (besides our woes in running the ball) seem to be Tackle focused. We did get two of the most athletic tackles possible this year. Presumably if we had a KC situation with one or both starters going down late in the season we will not suffer their fate. I dont know that KC rectified their depth issues at the position. We also have a ton of bodies at iOL, and I dont know that we needed Humphrey as much as we did Tackle depth.
  21. Good topic. The battle should be good. Some items in my head on the Line but specifically the iOL: I think one of Morse and Mongo is not on the team next year. Looking at contracts this seems likely. This leads to my next thought I think Doyle is retained because the Bills tend to keep their draft picks which causes me to almost expect a trade for a good player (Boettger or Lamp are most likely imo) From the Bills draft strategy I think the logic is very clear. Find good players for high value positions in the draft, use FA for the rest. This is why we did not make big investments into iOL Every team has a weakness if I get to choose mine iOL would be high on the list (with tackle being very low) I remember some folks being upset about the Teller trade, but I think at the time it was great value since he was likely a cut candidate. He also entered a historically good situation with the rest of the line he gets to play with and the coach he plays for. Im not sure he reaches his peak this soon for us. Outside of these things anything seems possible.
  22. I think they also did not realize their previous data sets were not representative for the reasons you mentioned. Particularly the lack of experience should have caused their models to push out their 95% CI on predictions (specifically on the high end cause they were predicting such low performance).
  23. Position is listed next to player picture. It says OLB. I see where you get RILB (scrolling to year by year). I went with the headline number. Not a lie and it doesnt seem that you tried to understand my position (definition of debating in bad faith). last ill engage with someone who is just trying to provoke with inflammatory language.
