Harrison Phillips knee injury
YattaOkasan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If youre measuring impact to the team youre gonna need to show me the 10 plays where harrison phillips saves us from an embarrassing loss to the Pats by punching the ball out of Cams hands. I have both making the team. -
Particularly when the rest of the room isn’t deep. I am for trading Butler, Addison, Klein. But those are deep rooms. We have no security if we trade Mitch.
-
To me it’s that we always have an eye on the long term cap situation and this would help. I like this move because we have so much depth at the position. Choices seem to be Cut Bam (maybe Obada but Ive liked his play) or trade Addison get 4 mil in cap and keep Bam. I’ll take the later as I didn’t see Addison do much for us the second half of the year (large part of that was snap count which could go down this year making him more effective). With what I have seen from AJE and Groot I think we have already upgraded the position group without Addison. Lastly we have a vet in the room in Jerry. lastly I’m surprised the board banging for Murphy’s head last season isn’t more on board with this move considering we have seen more out of our young DE this year than last.

Welcome to the club. I’ve been here for a week. I would literally take anything for him. Not because I don’t think he’s good but because the trade part is so crucial to the potential savings with his salary guaranteed. He’s either traded or on the team. I hope he can fetch a 7th. Literally anything for him is great cause we can’t really cut him. Also his salary isn’t that bad (only 4 mil)

So cover 0 and who’s covering Breida in that situation? That’s asking for a house call.

I understand your point, but I think Beane has been pretty open that he is thinking long term about cap. See his comments about Josh's contract and how every move was planned around that. Between those two guys thats ~7 million dollars. Long term that is capable starter at a lot of spots or depth at multiple spots. I think the balance thats going on is maximizing opportunity this year (give me the best roster we can) with maximizing the opportunity in subsequent years (maintaining cap room to make moves in the future). -

The one thats interesting to me is Addison. I think hes probably our 3rd or 4th best DE but I think I would want to trade him (cut does have a bit of dead money) to get some cap savings while still having Hughes, Groot, AJE, Efe, Boogie, Bam. Otherwise were cutting someone pretty good. AJ Klein is another one. Hes def 3rd or 4th best LB I think, but I would prefer cap savings from him with how deep we are in the LB corps. Again has to be a trade I think. -

Cap savings on Butler I have heard are all over. I had heard this number and asked Joe Marino about it but he had different numbers. With the numbers we have at DT I think we have to cut Butler for that 3.3m savings (assuming it exists). I don't think hes better than Zimmer or Phillips so it would be a shame/mistake to keep him because of dead cap. -

Yatta is just “I did it” in a exclamatory way. Typically something you yell after you did something challenging. Yelling that about someone’s mom was pretty funny to my juvenile mind. The phrase I got in german was different, a bit longer, but equally funny. -

It is Japanese. I asked for a dirty Japanese phrase when I was dumb college kid and this is what I got. I like it for how sounds and what it means is funny for an internet board. Actually prefer just Yatta now that I’m adult -

Said it somewhere else but panic about nothing and worry about everything seem applicable to this situation and life as a Bills fan. -

This youtube clip is still great -
I had spencer brown for the blocking TE role since hes more athletic than Lee Smith. From the Detroit game I am more encouraged by this because of his run blocking.

Panic about nothing and worry about everything seems appropriate. -
I agree that they are the best team in the conference (not much argument otherwise imo), but I don't know that I agree with this statement. As mentioned in the OP they have had a lot of close games (like 17 one score games in the past 2 years, not all with Mahomes). They have been damn near unstoppable for parts of a game but at this point there seem to be two trends. They will be hot and cold during a game, and they are good in close games. To me this further indicates the need to be able to run the ball against them. That should hopefully cool them off when they are in one of their hot streaks, and also shorten the game if they start off cold.

Preseason TNF: WFT at Pats / Eagles at Steelers
YattaOkasan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fair take. The part where I feel best about Allen is his improvement in the pocket. You probably dont have the time (its probably like 36 hours), but I had been watching all the @Cover 1 breakdowns from his rookie year through last year. They capture a historic progression from Allen as a raw prospect to what he was last year. Allen always had a lot on his plate, but he got better at being a QB over time (particularly this past year). So I can appreciate that you don't quite know what he is, but from those videos I feel pretty comfortable that he will be that mobile pocket passer. -

I just don't want to compare the two. The reasons they will have success, and what they need to do is so different that its not a worthwhile comparison. Josh needed to cut down on the bad plays and continue making the crazy plays. Jones needs to be able to push the ball down the field. I would also say the two were at very different points in their careers at the time of the first preseason game. What are the odds that going into TC Jones has thrown more balls in competitive situations (even though Josh is older)? He would presumably have a lot of elite camps Josh didnt. -

haha i get the point that its first preseason game. I actually dont disagree with the points you were making (i dont understand the as usual since we have had good discussion in the past), but dont compare allen to jones. Those two are very different. Plenty mobile QBs have had long careers (McNabb, Young, Cunningham). Data says QBs are just as likely to get hurt running the ball as standing the pocket. -

There’s defenders of the realm which is by the same maker as pandemic but is much more difficult. Pretty good challenge just to beat it (I’m batting less than .500).

Might mix it up with his game changing Steelers Pick 6! -
Training Camp Practice Monday, August 9 (10 am)
YattaOkasan replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Could that be related to the heat but just before practice. Like guys that didnt have enough fluids so kept them out as a precaution (maybe didnt recover well enough from saturdy)? I feel like our training department has hit that level of sophistication. -

There was lightning that caused the TV blackout on Diggs first TD (not if you tuned into the Miami Mafia livestream). So that tells me it wasnt super sunny. -
I’m surprised no one said trade. For Addison you get 6 mil this year with another 2 mil dead cap this year and for butler you get 4 mil. If we keep everyone healthy I am taking anything I can get for these two. https://overthecap.com/player/mario-addison/1185/ https://overthecap.com/player/vernon-butler/4742/ Dimarco? He was a bit dinged up but not sure if it counts. Also he was on the leadership council. confirmed https://www.google.com/amp/s/billswire.usatoday.com/2020/03/23/buffalo-bills-restructure-patrick-dimarco-contract/amp/

Training Camp practice and Media Sessions 8/5
YattaOkasan replied to IgotBILLStopay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m rooting for an Addison trade. I think we don’t have the dead cap in that situation. With how our numbers are stacking up, if there are no injuries I would take just a 7th. to the quote below. I agree but would replace the Titans with colts. I don’t know that the Titans had much of anything on defense which makes the loss that much more frustrating. Particularly against the chiefs you need to run the ball effectively to beat them.
