So you dont think hes a roster lock? I think his cap numbers indicate he is if hes not traded. I keep comparing Crowder to Cole and its interesting to me that Crowder has ~4.6 k snaps in the 7 years before joining and cole only had 3.2k snaps in 7 years. really strange how dallas didnt use cole. also shows that crowder has been playing a ton up to this point relative to a guy hes coming in for.

I dont really take the point about Saffold. Games with < 95% snap are SEA close win, NYJ loss, Jax rout, Kan rout, NWE loss (89% snaps), Jax rout, Mia rout. Thats 4 routs, 1 toss up in week 2 and 2 losses (one being close). He played complete games against all divisional opponents besides Jags and in 4/6 1 score games he saw the field for (both 1 score games he left the field for were in the first quarter of the season). Lastly, the titans as an org will not get the benefit of the doubt from me when it comes to managing injuries as they ran henry to dust last year. no savings to be had from cutting Edmunds. his contract is guranteed this year and since it ends this year we dont save any money next year by cutting him. so would need to trade him.
-
He also has more production on the outside than most other number 1s like Kupp and Adams. That he hasn’t used free releases in the slot to get easier yards makes him that much more impressive to me

Don’t worry about that IF. OJ has demonstrated an ability to block more than he has demonstrated being a downfield threat as a pass catcher. From reports I believe Knox lines up out wide when they are both on the same side of the field.
-
I see what you mean now with Doyle. It was a really strange end without any TEs besides Knox. Like I said I agree with your other points. I think I’m most excited cause we can be more multiple this year with Howard.
-
I agree with your other points but this confused me. Particularly the 12 personnel comment. Offense seemed rough til the end of the season and we weren’t dressing more than 1 TE (which itself Is crazy) at the end of the season. Are you basically just saying we used Gilliam in the offense more? That feels the only way we could be in 12 or 21 (depending what you label him as). Do you have some splits to show? Yeah agree. I’m not gonna advocate for him but get the upside with him.

He did take one back against Miami in 2020. But as others have mentioned it’s everything before he secures the ball that’s the problem. If he fixes all that (big IF) I’m fine with him I was wondering by same thing. I agree with @John from Riverside let them run. We’re gonna run 70%+ nickel cause we usually run 90%+ nickel. We have been decent against the run except for the super big runs. I think we get to more 4-3 (still not that much though) but it takes time as Bernard has to show he can handle the responsibility. Milano took a while to become a starter over Humber. But I get your excitement for Bernard.

I have been concerned just cause he’s so raw. He needs all the reps he can get. If he’s good for TC I’ll be fine. I honestly think Quessenberry can give more consistent play than Brown did last season. Just that Quessenberry is a bit long in the tooth (despite little tread) and Brown has much more upside.

QB coach battle Royal. Need help of the mafia!!!
YattaOkasan replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
i think its something he did in years past when asked what QB/coach combo would be the best tag team wrestling combo. I think its clearly McD with his wrestling background (and also above average athleticism for coaches) combined with the most physical imposing QB. So yeah its dumb but funny in my head to think of Josh and McD body slamming other coaches. -
Look at us fret about if Gabe Davis can be a number 2. I would be super nervous to have to rely on Lazard as number 1. Davis has had more yards every year than lazards best year (last). I get that he’ll get targets (so not a bad fantasy play) but I would expect his efficiency to go down without adams. I think rogers is a game manager at this point of his career and he’s the best at it in the league. That’s why his ints are so low and why he has had trouble in the post season as of late. GB will be good cause of a good defense and run game (and terrible division). But I don’t think rogers is as scary allen at this point.

Locked on Bills Podcast: A Case for Tremaine Edmunds
YattaOkasan replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall
Cover 1 had a lot of good stuff about nearest defender and why it’s flawed. I think they had an example of Milano missing a coverage resulting in edmunds being closest in coverage. I think the end of the TB game also fits into this category. Edmunds by being in the middle of the field is closest defender but it was someone else blown coverage. Overall the coverage stats outside of man coverage are pretty difficult to parse. -
Wait I thought pff had us as best roster? You have us behind the titans? LOLZ at the tought

JA reveals two key improvements for 2022
YattaOkasan replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Isn’t this a picture from 2020 game 1 at the earliest. Considering it’s a comment about 2 seasons ago find a different nit. also career low for fumbles during a year with career high in runs and pass attempts. INTs would be great to come down but fumbling was not an issue this past season for him. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AlleJo02.htm -
Something something shahs spleen. I think he’s gonna be re-signed
-
I thought it was funny he brought up pff grades. Quessenberry had a much higher grade than brown. Despite leading the league in sacks along tackles. Also I don’t think Saffold is cheaper than Williams. Williams is gonna get less and if they wanted him I think they would have restructured him. I thought that would happen going into FA. So I’ve been in Saffold is an upgrade camp. I also find Williams underwhelming at guard and good at RT. So when we give Williams pff grades it would be his overall grade I think. I wonder which grade (tackle or guard) was higher. He took an appreciable number of snaps at RT

Already available on YouTube. joe is always worth a listen

One starter from the end of the year. Considering who took the majority of snaps we got improvement at 3 places. Bates better than Ike, mongo, ford (you agree with me on this) Brown improves (I think you would agree odds are that he does), Saffold. That’s better at three positions which equates to much better. Did they get anyone to surpass Morse or Dawkins? Nah but they did turnover the bottom part of that line. Go be miserable about something else like why Bates got less snaps than Cody ford.

You better tell the league that they are underestimating Williams. I was here for 2020. he lost his spot to a rookie the next year. clearly there are limitations in his game (they are athletic, his RAS is bad). im not aware of him ever having a good season at guard. Ultimately i think Williams' lack of athleticism is why teams have soured on him as a Tackle and he has never shown to be a good guard. Seems a pretty straight forward why he doesnt have a deal yet. The injury concern is really your best argument in this saffold/williams discussion, which is why im still laughing at your terrible take earlier, but at this point the bills have shown they are able to manage injuries very well. But saffold gets to play beside an "all pro" LT this coming season so really the comparison is to Bates. Again saffold is a clear upgrade. At this point you need to hope someone signs williams for > 5 mil or ill just have fun tagging you with that. At RG Bates had a better ratio of snaps : penalty than Williams and did not have enough snaps to qualify for a ranking (he gave up 0 though). Yeah that might not translate to the other side but at this point youre just projecting. If it doesnt Van Roten is very similar G to Williams (Van Roten << Williams @ T). Quessenberry is fun. I think sacks plus penalties is just as useful to evaluate OL play. Brown had 8 penalties last year to Quessenberry's 2. so Quessenberry has 13 penalties and sacks to browns 9 penalties and sacks. Quessenberry also had like double the snaps and was a clearly better run blocker. So yeah I think he played better last year, even though I think Browns anticipated growth makes him a better RT this year. Also quessenberry has a great story. dude played less than 500 snaps before last year, and he turned out to be an awesome run blocking tackle. He has played multiple positions after winning his battle with cancer. So just overall yeah i think his play this year can be expected to be better than Browns rookie season. So where does that leave us. you need Bates to play worse on the other side, Saffold to be injured, Brown not to take a step forward, Quessenberry to take a step back as a run blocker. That would be same level of play as last years OL (we would run Dawkin, Bates, Morse, Van Roten, Quessenberry in this scenario). So thats all variance on one side of the mean. I could paint a picture where we become a top 5 line this year doing the opposite of what you did to get them back in the 16-20 range (I think they will be top 10). I think an improvement from 16-20 to top 10 would be considered much better. But you do you and keep telling GMs they are underestimating Williams as a tackle.

Kumerow cut, re-signed, according to Profootballtalk
YattaOkasan replied to The Dean's topic in The Stadium Wall
They normally play these games with guys they trust and normally the guys only play ball cause they trust the team. But the also normally don’t play these games at this time of the year. -
Simms Concludes his top 40 qb's. Allen top dog.
YattaOkasan replied to Stank_Nasty's topic in The Stadium Wall
We should probably trade him for someone better. Who you got in mind? -
Lol what. Daryl Williams who is still a free agent after we cut him is a wash with a Rodger Saffold that just came off a pro bowl year to finish his contract. You think Rodger Saffold wouldn’t be signed right now as he’s a wash with Daryl Williams? So after your laughable first argument let’s assume you’re right on the rest. If bates can’t flip sides (cause he has only played all the OL spots), then I still think all our other iOL depth (besides ford) is better than Daryl Williams (who is unsigned lolol). Now brown regresses from what was an already inconsistent year. Quessenberry played better than him last year. So if he can maintain his play then we have still upgraded. Someone gif me a Billy Madison “may god have mercy on your soul”. At no point during your laughable arguments did you come close to making a salient point for why even in the worst case the line still hasn’t improved. agree josh has never had a good line so low bar. But wow that was a good laugh. Dudes not signed and he’s wash with Saffold. We don’t know exactly what the league thinks of Saffold but we definitely know what it thinks of Williams (about as much as your take is worth 🤣)

It’s true his pass protection is not great. But he is a great run blocker. Maybe they thought they couldn’t afford him with their cap numbers. The titans drafted isiah Wilson in the first so they def don’t get the benefit of the doubt when it come to tackle evaluation.
