Very good? i'm not sure Herber is even 5th best in the conference. Ill say +9 yards per target the past two years aint nothing either. Happy for him to be that efficient on 60 targets here. That puts him right behind Coleman and Cooper last year which is where I would expect him as an X receiver.

Poll: Would you rather have 1000yds & 10TDs or 13 Sacks & 10 TFLs?
YattaOkasan replied to Lost's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s all magic on some level of this hypothetical. Particularly if you start thinking about the ramifications of adding the stats (first downs gained and lost, GAME SCRIPT which was huge for the team). We did the assignment different. As you say adding 10 TDS is no small feat cause we would have been all time efficient. I think that takes us further. But am looking for that this offseason? No. It seems easier to get a 13 sack guy (of which there are not many) than get another 10TDs from the offense. And it’s def easier to find a 9+ sack guy. -

Maybe that’s where this is getting weird. I read as 10 TDs on top of what we did. Your post seemingly says those 10 TDS would come from someone else. So if it’s effectively of no benefit then (cause they came from someone else) then yeah that stat line is of course worse. I think 10 more TDs (on top of what we had) would have been more impactful than 13 more sacks on top of what we had. You also mention pressures but that’s not in the OP. It just says stat line doesn’t say player who could. I read it different than you is all and it was still close. yes if you say those 10 TDs would come from other players (thus not increasing points scored which is my whole thesis) and 13 sacks also brings pressures all on top of what everyone else did then that’s obviously better. But if it’s what would be more impactful the bills scoring 10 more TDS and getting 1k more yards or getting 13 more sacks and 10 TFL (very low) I’m taking points and significantly more yardage. if this is another should we address offense or defense thread then I agree with you and address defense. But it was posed a bit differently. I would rather a 13 sack guy than a 1k and 10TD guy. -

Interestingly you said strong defenses and not SACKS. Those defenses were very good scoring defenses. I would agree scoring defense > scoring offense, but that was not the premise of the poll. The yards are hardly even part of the equation to me, and i consider sacks to be closer to yards than they are to scoring. -

Seems intuitive that TDs would be more correlated with winning. Should note that in 2020 and 2024 (our two best Josh seasons) we had 56 and 62 TDs and only 38 and 39 sacks. 2021, 2022, 2023 all had more sacks and less TDs. So more TDs all day please. -
i wanted to check cause your reply made it seem like you only thought Shakir was the only one that outplayed his contract. Thanks

20% better? Cause thats how much better to be "worth it." Are you saying above that you now think the OL did play well enough. You also say you have enjoyed these last few seasons, but your thread is titled "goddammit I'm sick of excuses." Pick a lane. If you wanted to say we need to be more physical and tougher to win the SB then title your post that. Saying that the only thing that matters is team success (i.e. winning the super bowl) is literally sayin you dont find any other result having meaning. You seem like a masochist if all that matters is winning the super but youve been a bills fan for so long.

You dont think Josh Allen out played his 14th highest QB salary? So you don't think any QB is worth a salary investment? Also Cook is on a rookie contract. You don't think he outplayed his contract?

I find the idea that our OL isnt tough enough hilarious. Anderson and Spencer Brown are just nasty individuals. Wanna say our DL gets pushed around? sure. But the OL is a nasty group of dudes.

UFL to end traditional onside kicks
YattaOkasan replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
its ~13% for 4th and 15. I dont thinks thats terrible. Yes some bad calls will be made but refs deal with these end of game long shot calls all the time and they get the majority correct. We just remember the wrong ones cause they all happen to the Chiefs benefit (lol). -
UFL to end traditional onside kicks

Im sure there will be some DPI's that arent great that get called but I dont think itll be too bad. It should be the same as many late game situation the refs currently have to handle with some regularity. Whats the diff between a Hail Mary and a 4th and 15 that is proposed? Hail Mary's are mostly cause time is limited (as in last play of the game). Trying to retain the ball post score does not necessarily have to be the last play of the game and so you can run a "normal" play (obviously its likely limited to a slower developing play because of down and distance). -
UFL to end traditional onside kicks
YattaOkasan replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
Officiating is by far the biggest hurdle but i think 4th and 15 from the 30 is way more exciting than super unlikely onside kick. I would rather see the best players with opportunities to make the biggest plays. Onside kick is so niche, but a 4th and 15 is a executing a tough offensive play which should be very exciting. Additionally, punts seem like better return opportunities than place kicks if you dont onside. -

Joe Marino was the one I heard mentioning it. -

Thoughts on Grable to guard. Grable is tall but his arms are an inch shorter than dawkins. I sorta wanna see him on the field and guard seems easier to get time than tackle and I feel comfortable with RVD as a swing. -

Do you have any metrics that say were not a great blitzing team? I went looking but couldnt find any articles (I think Cover 1 videos have mentioned our efficiency). I was under the impression we are efficient when we blitz, but we choose not to. -

Not just minimal other injuries, the primary backup (Bishop) has had a ton of run and seemingly getting more acquainted with the position. Though the Chiefs in the playoffs are a test like none other. -
youre providing commentary about this forum. your status as newb here is pretty pertinent. talk some x's and o's and youll do fine.

Just wanna reiterate some of the comments above for why i donated. Andrews is a great player/person that I always like and its absolute sucks that hes getting this treatment. This is a way to make a crappy situation have some upside. Then there is stuff bigger than football. Hoping we can play each other in the AFCCG next year after one of us (or another team in the WC) takes out KC.

I think they were trying to get their main 3 a couple snaps off before a potential goal line stand. Agree it back fired, but all the primary DL were on the field for the 2pt conversion (not that it mattered). Odd mirror did fail against lamar as he did a good job of taking his time and avoiding rushers. It should be noted that Mahomes is who they developed the odd mirror rush for and it has worked effectively against him (2+ picks). I do expect more Von in this game. I believe Marino wasnt saying prevent shell but that when we blitzed versus when we didnt (not all of these should be considered prevent). -

I maybe be missing something but yeah cover 2 man is usually a problem because you rush 4, 5 coverage players play man, and 2 deep to protect. Thus noone accounts for the QB and you have to contain rush. Obviously thats a problem with Mahomes, but with odd mirror you sacrifice one of the primary rushers and spy the QB to be a second wave rusher. -

I love what odd mirror (not mentioned here but thats the name of the front) enables from a coverage perspective too. We have run cover 2 man on the back side of this rush. Typically that defense suffers because theres noone accounting for the QB, and with Mahomes or Lamar youre gonna get roasted. However, with a QB spy you feel a lot better about running cover 2 man. That defense is so powerful because you can get into a trail technique and jump under routes knowing there are 2 deep defenders that got your back. I expect to see a ton of it this weekend. -
