  1. Nothing scientific. I've been to most of the 90s era games mentioned here. This game gets my vote.
  2. Confirmation bias or arguement from final consequence.

  7. Little League pure joy. Thirteen minute referee huddle, replay booth review, "from this angle" color guy observations, game interrupting, "when did he have control" debates in the NFL.
  8. He did. Super Bowl XIX. Dolphins: 50 passing attempts, 9 rushing attempts, 25 rushing yards. Marino's second season. 38 - 16 loss. So similar to the last Shula/Marino game, 11 years later. The song remained the same. Dolphins: 66 passing attempts, 14 rushing attempts, 70 rushing yards. Shula's final season. 37 - 22 loss.
  9. Awesome game reference. One of my favorites of all time. Marino, a great passer, vs Kelly, a great quarterback. The Bills had 343 yards rushing. Miami had 14 rushes. Miami threw the ball 66 times for 422 yds. Kelly vs Marino on display. "The great" Shula never figured out how to use Marino, or never had the will to get it done. Cox was, well, cox. Thurman sliced and fell forward, time after time, for an extra yard or two. My memory: This game was won before the opening kickoff. I tailgated in a lot along the road the Miami bus used to enter the stadium hours before the game. Cold, snow, breakfast grills and beer. The bus entered the lot and slowly drove past 100s of screaming, bare chested, painted, fanatics. I saw each row of Dolphins in the bus, huddled in recently purchased fancy bubble parkas, their glum, disbelieving, faces leaning cheek to window, watching the madmen scream. They were already dreaming of the flight home, warmth, glamorous clubs on Ocean drive, and an escape from the weird frozen Thunderdome that was Rich Stadium.

  12. To Bill: This is my third post. I've been reading for years. Yours is among the content I anticipated and sought out. I am grateful for your knowledge, insight, graciousness to others, and effort. You're a fun read, too. I celebrate the priorities you've identified. Thank you for all you've given.

  14. Long time lurker ... The movie is playing. I'd be interested in reactions. It's a very good film and raises so many questions. I saw it. I'm digesting it. Pittsburgh, the source of the Ohio at the confluence of the Monongahela and the Allegheny. Pittsburgh, the source of humanity at the confluence of money and power. Discuss ...
