Why the !@#$ should they give their money to the government if no one else is willing to? They would put themselves at a strategic competitive disadvantage in whatever they want to accomplish in life as they would have significantly less resources to accomplish these things as compared to those who did not give away money. That would be stupid, and these men are obviously not stupid. .. and for the record, Bill Gates and Buffet have pledged to give away lots of their wealth to charity after they pass away. The four men were examples. Not a comprehensive list.

"You would say that Laura Bush should not spend so much money" "No I wouldn't, and I didn't" "Yes you would" "No I wouldn't" "YES YOU WOULD" "NO I WOULDN'T" ... ya that's a really productive conversation right there.

Uhm,... ? I mean /dev/null's post was fully retarded and did not deserve a response. I don't think your post here is retarded, but I think it's highly inaccurate. Fareed Zakaria, Bill Gates, Jon Stewart, Warren Buffett (for some examples) are all very wealthy men who have publicly said they would have no problem paying higher taxes, and have encouraged the government to raise taxes on their bracket. Raise taxes for the wealthy mean all wealthy including those who are the "the democratic politicians are all RICH AND NOT PAYING THEIR FAIR SHARE OF TAXES".

Ya, she spent .000000000000001% of the GDP on that trip. That B word. How do you crazies manage to take yourselves serious and make threads like this one at the same time?

Why is it always about "sides" with you? Can't issues be a complex array of intricacies with many variables? Is it always just simply right or left, republican or democrat? Stop pigeonholing people.

You are very silly these recent days. Either you've stopped trying, or you are trying to hard to insult me. I can't tell.

I do believe homosexuality is partially influenced by genes. There is some scientific evidence to support this position. The key word and the word I want to emphasize here is partially.

I think the most likely scenario is that you, Booster4324, are the batshit stupid one.

Regarding your sig, a conservative will accuse the fish of violating the sanctity of marriage, threaten to shoot the fish if it doesn't return to it's country of origin, pollute the fishes water until it nearly goes extinct, and take the fishes balanced budget and turn it into a trillion dollar debt over a period of 8 years.

If this were black rights, and a black judge decided the case, would you say the same thing?

The Daily Show pwns all again... http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-july...n-t-know-snooki (actually the daily show wrote Obama's jokes for the whcd)

You are so partisan. Not all of that money that will definitely be spent, it's just money that will be available in case it's needed to cover HC costs. Actual spending may be lower (if you can understand that concept?). The bill gives free heath care to the workers, and compensation for up to 50,000 people if needed. So, that averages out to $148,000 per person. Ya that is money that is coming from the City of NY and the State of NY. It's a really good bill. Stop loving the Republican party more than you love America.

He's trying to give 9/11 first responders free health care for life. Get a grip.

He did not have the votes to pass it. It did not pass. Republicans would have added a bunch of amendments to it if they did the 50% vote, so Dems were forced to use procedural rules and try for the 2/3 vote. Republicans are playing games, while dems are trying to govern.

where did all the money go?
drnykterstein replied to ....lybob's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
This does not mean the government can't or does not move quickly at times. Remember the pirate hostage situation, the terrorists arrested at JFK, or the Times Square bomber? You having what you think is conventional wisdom does not make it fact. -

I tend to trust politifact. From everything I've seen they mostly give a pretty fair explanation, and the text in that link is a fair assessment, IMO. There is a lot of Medicare fraud. It's a good thing the recent Health Care Reform Bill had several provisions and funding that allows for better fraud prevention. I'm wondering if the passage of that bill is the reason that these busts were able to happen earlier this month. -
Obama: raising taxes on small businesses
drnykterstein replied to Fingon's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Dude you just pasted that from some insane right wing blog. No references, no data, no proof, no nothing. You just pasted in a pile of possible bull crap. I'm sure most of it can be debunked. I could find no (real) evidence supporting or debunking any of these claims. The cadillac plans? Give me a break. This is unrelated to small business. Uhm... good, I'm glad. Also this is unrelated to small businesses. But really, given your "source", it's probably not even true. Also several of your "taxes" are penalties and sanctions. Would you rather they threw business owners who don't comply with regulations into jail? Also, please acknowledge that Obama has several times tried to get tax cuts and other assistance to small businesses, and in all of the cases the Republicans have blocked him.
