Well at least they both understand where the other is coming from. Why not give Williams the benefit of the doubt and say that he knows what the drill is going to be and will shape up or ship out. -

Do you like Unga? That's our backup guard and might even be a starter. -

254 pounds. I would like to see 275+ at defensive end in a 4-3 -
Our poll came out for this year, a 4th rounder, shading a little toward the 5th round- so maybe pick 24 in the 4th round, this year or maybe about 3rd round pick 24 for next year.(?) San Fran took Stevie for a 4th next year with maybe moving into the 3rd depending upon a very good performance. Since San Fran picks about 28 or so, I'm going to estimate that the value of what they gave might be half-way between their 4th and 3rd round pick next year- say about 12th in the 4th round. It looks like out experts estimated Stevie's value as a draft pick about half a round low.

I hear that it would cost a lot of cap money this year to move him now. I hear and agree with the argument that he might thrive as a slot guy with the best corners and double coverages on Watkins, Williams and Wood. Also, if he does real good this year, we could get more for him by moving him next year. When is somebody going to start calling our WR's the WWW team or something like that?

Something I wonder about is the following. What is going on with Harrison? They haven't done a medical discharge thing on him and he looked like a viable starter at LEFF offensive tackle last year. Are the Bills hiding that he is the in-house replacement for Pears, just to blow smoke in everybody's face? Secondly, J.J. Unga l(6'5" #320) looked like a monster in what little I saw of him last year. Are these guys the sleepers and maybe we aren't really thinking o-line in this draft?

http://buffalowins.com/features/rebirth/rebirth-part-8-1987-the-trade.html Two points. This is really a poor example of trade value. Bell was drafted in 1988 in the first round by the Bills The Bills packaged this with their first and second round picks in 1988. (#26 and #53, worth 1080 points or ~~ the #12 pick) Bennett was drafted (Colts) with the second pick in 1987 (2600 points) How do you compare players traded and who have played in the league with draft points? It was a 3-way trade as well. Second point, is that the value of Bennett was magnified for the Bills by having Bruce there on the other side. Usually filling holes is a good draft strategy. Sometimes adding strength to strength and getting dominate in one area works well for getting success. Watkins AND Williams AND Woods with Stevie in the slot (and 1 or 2 burners on the bench) might overload other teams and lead to success.

Yes, it is something that the OP read somewhere and I don't remember where that somewhere was. One thing I have done is always look at trades of draft picks and found that a 50% discount from this to next year seems to always be in the ballpark. Sorry, I don't have any data to back this up right now. Maybe after this draft, I'll play around with the last 3 years and document what is. I think that the reason for the discount is the extra year's use of the player drafted with the pick this year. (You know, if you borrow money, you do have to pay for taking the use of the money for that year and for the lender not having the use of the money for that year). Somehow the short lifetime of NLF players, coaches and GM's also plays into this. Few coaches would want to be fired for poor results this year, even if they were laying the grounds for success in the future.

Many draft pundits claim that this trade was poorly done by the Bills and that they gave up too much to move up. The actual difference in points between #9 and #4 is {1800-1350) = 450 points. The Bills swapped the first round picks and in addition gave up the 2015 first and fourth round picks. How should we evaluate the cost for next year’s picks.? The usual assumption is that the Bills would finish the 2015 season with the same draft position, so using that criteria and the “standard assessment” of discounting next year’s picks by 50% of their value, then the Bills spend 717 points in order to move up 450 points. A bad deal. The view of Whaley is that the Bills will have a much better record next year, so the deal is not so bad. Here is the cost of next year’s 1st and 4th round picks [@ 50% discount] compared to possible draft slots that the Bills might attain next year. 2015 Finish ......……value of 1st & 4th .......................…..overpayment .......................................................overpayment in terms of a draft pick ============================================= 9…….....717…..…....267…………….top 3rd round pick 10……....691…..…....241 11……...655….....….215 12……...639….....…189………………middle 3rd round pick 13……...613……....163 14.……..587….....…137 15……...561…….....111……………..top 4th round pick 16…..….535……......85 17…..…509…….......59……………..~ middle 4th round pick 18..…….483……......33……………….middle 5th round pick 19……...470….....….20………………middle 5th round pick 20……...456…....……6……………….lower 7th round pick 21……...430…..…..-20 22…...…419……....-31 23……...408……...-42 24……..397……....-53 25……..386…....…-64 26……..375…...….-75 27….….365…….....-86 28……..354……....-96 29……..344.…….-107 30……..333..……-117 31……..323…..…-128 32……..317…….-133 So for the Bills to break even on the draft value chart, they would have to get to the #20th best record (Cardinals) with about a 10-4 record- win 6 more games. If they go 8-8 and match Pittsburg #15 spot, then the overpayment is a pick at the top of the 4th round. These are not gamebreakers- if the Bills improve their record. Another question is whether it was a good idea to give up a chance to draft an extra player in the first and third round next year. I don't think so.

Moses and Kouandio, both lower first upper second round guys are still available. -
Figuring it out by trades based upon this year's picks 1........... entire draft 2014 and 2015 plus a 2nd in 2016? 2... ..........1st, 2nd, & 4th this year, next year's 1st 3.............1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks 4.............1st, 2nd round and 5th round pick 5.............1st, 3rd and 4th round pick 6.............1st, 3rd and 7th round pick 7.............1st, 4th, 5th and 7th round pick 8.............1st, 5th and 7th round pick 9................nothing They discount next year's pick by 50%. Moving from #9 to #4 is 450 points. The #9 pick (assuming we will be drafting in the same spot next year) and the 9th pick in the 4th round totals 1454 points, so with the 50% discount that comes to 727 points. We got screwed. 1........... entire draft 2014 and 2015 plus a 2nd in 2016? 2... ..........1st, 2nd, & 4th this year, next year's 1st 3.............1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks 4.............1st, 2nd round and 5th round pick 5.............1st, 3rd and 4th round pick 6.............1st, 3rd and 7th round pick 7.............1st, 4th, 5th and 7th round pick 8.............1st, 5th and 7th round pick 9................nothing They discount next year's pick by 50%. Moving from #9 to #4 is 450 points. The #9 pick (assuming we will be drafting in the same spot next year) and the 9th pick in the 4th round totals 1454 points, so with the 50% discount that comes to 727 points. We got screwed.

trade down with the rams to #13 and pick up another third 1st CJ Mosley.........a 3 down linebacker to work in with the two rental guys and Kino. Will be an all pro 2nd Morgan Moses we need a RIGHT offensive tackle, we draft a RIGHT offensive tackle. 3rd Kareen Martin defensive end. Gotta have something good on the other side from Mario 2nd 3rd. FS Terrence Brooks. We got 4-5 tight ends on the roster. We have a proven guy, a speed guy, an posssitble all-around good guy,,,that's enough depth on depth 4th running back Terrance West from Towson. We got two RB's coming up for new contracts. Why do you think that we brought in 5 RB's for visits? 5th cornerback Philip Gaines from Rice, We brought in 6 corners. One each that might be drafted around our first 3 picks and 3 that oar 5th rounders. The first 3 are trade-pick bait. The last 3 are for real.
