No it isn't. The blocking scheme has to match the QB. A pocket guy needs a different line than a guy who has wheels. A QB with a good arm but who is just okay on the short stuff, needs some WR with speed to get the long balls and get medium stuff more open. If most of the players already on the team don't match, you have more rebuilding to do. Are you tired of rebuilding?

Don’t bet the farm on at the QB roulette table
maryland-bills-fan replied to VTBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They have tried 17 QB's since then. https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2017/11/19/16659056/quarterback-position-buffalo-bills-since-jim-kelly-ryan-fitzpatrick-drew-bledsoe-eh-manuel-tyrod If you pick in the top 5 you have a 50% success rate. Yep, lets wait to the 5th round. (Brady). Or maybe the 3rd round (Garro). What will they do this year, with Brady retiring soon? Round 1, Pick 23 (23rd overall) - From Los Angeles Rams* Round 1, Pick 31 (31st overall) - Assigned Selection Round 2, Pick 11 (43rd overall) - From San Francisco* Round 2, Pick 31 (63rd overall) - Assigned Selection Round 3, Pick 31 (95th overall) - Assigned Selection Round 6, Pick 24 (198th overall) - From Los Angeles Rams* Round 6, Pick 36 (210th overall) - From Oakland Round 7, Pick 1 (219th overall) - From ClevelandD Do you want to bet that they trade their first 5 picks for a QB? -
" Why be bold? Why be the master of your own destiny? Why reach out and take what is yours when you can sit there and hope others will provide? Don't swing for the fences son, bunt, bunt, bunt! "Take what comes to us" is just about the most miserable life advice I have ever heard unless your only goal in life is to slowly rot from the inside out while toiling away in middle management. Let me guess, your favorite color is beige, your favorite food is a ham sandwich and your idea of a hot night is listening to Mel Torme while doing it with the lights on. " It is bottom of the ninth, tie game. Bunting with a running on second and no outs is a good thing. Swinging for the fences with eyes closed is a bad thing. Your welcome.

What I think the Bills will do

Rosen or Mayfield for #12 and a second round pick would be great. More likely it will take both 1st and a second. -

We have a number of disadvantages in getting one of those top 4. We made the playoffs. We don't have a high "natural" 1st and 2nd round pick to play with. There are a bunch of teams drafting at the top who themselves need QB's. The Jets probably overpaid by 25% to move up, and that may set the cost for moving far up this year. Maybe the thing to do is to ignore those top 4 (unless one who we like falls to#7 or lower) and consider what the QB ranking would be if it were a more normal QB draft year. Then we could be happy with getting one of those guys at #12 or #22. -

One, two, three of four QBs for the Bills?
maryland-bills-fan replied to dtgolder's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rational is way over rated. -
I don't think so. They have plenty of picks in this draft. They could get a real, difference making stud with the 4th pick. Maybe the best RB in the last 5 years. The guy could start year one without a long learning curve compared to other positions. I think the Browns are after difference makers rather than even more solid players. I think they will keep both picks 1st round QB's have a ~ 50% bust rate. Maybe the first two might be above that this time (70%?) but the 3-6 QB are going to be in that range. I don't think there will be a lot of difference, 10 years from now, between #3-4 and #6-7. Sounds like get somebody in the lower 1st or 2nd round and stock up on the other 97% of the team.

What I was trying to get across, and some people understood, is that there are a lot of teams picking 1-10 who have first round QB picks or at least $10-15M/year QB's......and they are still the bottom 10 in the league. A number of people nit-picked spelling and tried to explain all this away. -

WHY pick a guy who is going to be a rotational DT, rather than a starter at some position that is empty? -

MAJ Bobby Sorry I wasn't completely accurate and didn't double check all the details. I started out wondering why all these teams that were ahead pf is in the draft were NOT in play for taking these super super 4-5 QB's. It turned out that most of them already had pretty good looking QB's that we would be happy to have. So maybe having the real good QB is not the recipe for success as much as some believe. I'm tempted to also extend that list to include the other ~ ten teams that didn't make the playoffs. I bet there are some real good names there. .... maybe I won't because some heads might explode..... -
I agree and read the same article. It comes to about a 50% bust rate for 1st round QB's. In my opinion that is too much of a risk to take for the Bills. Especially this year when the jest have set a 25% premium on moving up. Especially this year where there are a number of top drafting teams who need QB's.

Heh? Of course I have an opinion just like everyone else. What is wrong with expressing it as well and forcefully as you can? Some people get really upset when something challenges them and rather attack and slander then consider something different. Do you REALLY think saying Should delete himself. can mean anything else but killing himself? You didn't say delete your account. You didn't say delete the post. Geesh. -

It is sorry to see you saying somebody should kill themself. Is a football discussion site that important to you? By the way, sorry to upset you about having "Buck" instead of "Buc". I usually write longer writings in a word process first in order to avoid fat-finger mistakes in typing. Spell check and replace must have jump in without my noticing. Sorry to see that upset you so much.
