Interesting Take From QB Guru on Allen
maryland-bills-fan replied to Da webster guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes that is true. He played 2 years with a community college football program and only two of 350 or so 4 year colleges even answered his requests for a 'ship. He is clueless about playing with nfl level WR or DB. He might learn this. He might not have the timing in his brain to be able to learn this. The Bills should pass on this dicey guy and build on someone who has been there and done this. -
Most important question about a QB
maryland-bills-fan replied to Tatonka68's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We should want a QB who has been successful for 3-4 years at a high level of competition. JMJ is this so hard to figure out? Let's talk baseball. You want to bring up a player who has gone thu the system. Has batted close to 300 at A ball, then AA ball and the then has proven that he can hit at triple A or high AA ball against pitchers who have several pitches (curve, change, splitter, sinker and fastball and good placement). Then he can get some cups of coffee. You don't bring up a guy who smoked short-season A ball to the big leagues as a rule 5 guy. Or a guy who spent 2 years at a community college and never ever won against top 50 teams (or high AA or AAA ball). This isn't rocket science. -

I sure hope McBean can pull a bunch of great players out of the trash heap of FA's.

Top rated mock draft board
maryland-bills-fan replied to Tyrod's friend's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can not understand how the QB are always 15 players down this list. I think the authors just want to show how much smarter they are. Why shouldn't a once-a-century long snapper be showing up? -
We May Need to Resign Ourselves to Allen at 5

Allen didn't do read option. -
I don't think they would do that because they don't need a very dubious development project. He never proved himself against top notch competitions for multiple years. He never had to throw passes against NFL DB speed players. Let's remind people that after graduating from Reedley Community College, Allen sent film and intro letters to all 350 or so 4 year colleges with football teams and had two replies. Are all those coaches idiots?

Extra risk with Allen because he did not play against good opponents. By the way, does anybody else wonder why after he played 2 years at a community college ONLY TWO 4 YEAR COLLEGES EVEN ANSWERED HIS INQUIRERS FOR A SCHOLARSHIP??? 639 schools turned him down. One offered a scholarship. One lost interest when he went on a visit to the other school. Are they all so much dumber than the posters here? -
A few comments. Did Rudolph make his wide receivers look good, or was it the other way around, or was it both? ..... I don't think Rudolph will make it to #22. The Cards, the Ravens, the Steelers and even New England are all candidates to move up and take him. .....but who did they play against? Allen did smoke Gardner-Webb last year 27-0. What Allen hasn't done is played against top college players for 3-4 years and succeed. He did okay his first two years at college at Reedley Community College. Remember EJ.

We May Need to Resign Ourselves to Allen at 5
maryland-bills-fan replied to Midwest1981's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Allen has played one game in his career against a top 25 college team. (2017 #18 Iowa where he had a 20 QB rating.) He has never beaten a top 50 college team. He is a PROJECT. He has never proven that he can play and succeed against the top college players or NFL quality defensive backs. There is almost NO film of him competing against such players. If we had an established QB, AND a roster without gaping holes, we could take a gamble on him in the second round. We are not in that situation. We also have a 2nd year coaching staff,. They need to rebuild the team and get it competitive in the next two years or they will probably be looking for new jobs. Regardless of what we fans feel, they need to show fast progress. They can not gamble their career on somebody without a know track record. Remember that Allen played 2 years of college football and 2 years at a tiny college that you have never heard of. -

No. You draft potential in the late 2nd round at the earliest. At #12 you get a lineman or linebacker who will be a starter for a decade and several times an all pro. -
What if no QB with first pick
maryland-bills-fan replied to mattstev's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, you have to have the guts NOT to reach for a QB, just to get a QB. We have gotten into trouble in the past by doing this. The 6,7,8 guys all have about the same chance on being a good player when they get to the pros. If it comes to that, Plan C is to draft them where they warrent. Well, my favorite bamboo trout fishing rod is for sale as well. Do you have $750,000? The Giants are not going to turn down 6 first round and 6 second round picks. Heh? Look at the schedule they played. He was playing against subpar defensive backs. How many DB from Gardner-Webb have made the NFL? -
Gee..... While Mayfield was sitting on the bench, Rudoph was busy upsetting Oklahoma https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2014/12/6/7346187/oklahoma-oklahoma-state-recap-38-35

What if no QB with first pick
maryland-bills-fan replied to mattstev's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is a very good viewpoint. There is a cult of people on this board who think that courage and guts is all about trading 7 picks this year and 2 picks next year to move up to take the "franchise guy". They really are cowards because they are afraid of missing the second coming of Kelly. BPA rather than reaching up is the way to build a team. -
Down to Allen or Mayfield at 1
maryland-bills-fan replied to Awwufelloff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Allen's completion rate is 53 and 56 %. I don't know what it was his first two years at Reedly Junior College. -
Does anyone really think that McBean will risk their career on a project who has a 53% completion rate in the 7th best conference? https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2018/4/2/16913670/josh-allen-wyoming-nfl-draft-college-schedule-strength-opponents https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/draft/2018/04/24/nfl-draft-2018-josh-allen-top-40-rankings-wyoming-quarterback/544906002/
