  1. We need to get a game break er type guy. That will limit what the opposing defenses can do to cause disruptions. If they don't cover their gaps and zones on defense, we need a guy who can make them pay by getting big chunks or going to the house. It makes the defenses more predictable, and will help Allen.
  2. That argument goes every year. They should not go after wild ass flyers, who might make the roster or not. We have spent the bunch of lower round draft picks that we got by dismantling the old roster. ... This year, I think, we will use draft script to get a #1 WR and some other guy in the bottom of the 1st or early 2nd. We need to stockpile pro-bowl level guys, My thoughts exactly.
  3. To get the next Knox, Allen, Edmouns or Ford.
  4. Cliff's Notes: They can move up to the top of the second round.
  5. https://www.nfl.com/prospects/clyde-edwards-helaire?id=32194544-5781-5562-8963-df06e680f700 Strengths Ball security is outstanding Runs low to the ground with superb bend and balance 36 percent of his carries were for first downs or touchdowns in 2019 Can cut-and-go without stopping anywhere on field Quick gather and cut agility laterally or on downhill flow Has spin move, elongated jump cut, and sudden double cut in his bag Makes tacklers miss in a phone booth Instinctive eyes and feet make him unpredictable Alters run tempo at times to con flowing linebackers Squares pads and falls forward to finish Has instant access to burst and sharp one-cut angles Runs crisp routes out of backfield YAC are automatic Kick returner for three years Weaknesses Quick but doesn't have speed to house longer runs RPOs made linebackers more tentative early in run Smaller back as interior runner Average power near goal line or on short yardage Pure speed to the corner is just average Shorter arms with limited catch radius Needs to crank up commitment level in pass sets I would take him if he came to us at #54, but wouldn't move up for him because of his lack of size and flat out speed. He might be a great college player but so-so as a pro. Playing on a champion team, you wonder if the surounding players made him look good. I disagree. The team seems to like doing a rotation. Singletary is a smaller back and I think having a similar back take maybe a third of the plays would keep him fresher and reduce the chance of an injury either slowing him down, or making him play wounded the rest of the year.
  6. No. We should notice that they use the draft to shoot for homerun type players. They use cap space to get seasoned veterans who have shown they can play well, and do this rather than wasting time on good to okay college guys who might flame our or take 2-3 years to get up to speed. ... I'm pretty sure that they will trade UP rather than down, and might do something like trade the 4th & 5th and a 3rd next year to move up from #54. They would like to get somebody who could start and has all-pro potential.
  7. $17 million? "................An "exclusive" franchise player must be offered a one-year contract for an amount no less than the average of the top five salaries at the player's position as of a date in April of the current year in which the tag will apply, or 120 percent of the player's previous year's salary, whichever is greater. Exclusive franchise players cannot negotiate with other teams. The player's team has all the negotiating rights to the exclusive player. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>A "non-exclusive" franchise player must be offered a one-year contract for an amount no less than the average of the top five cap hits at the player's position for the previous five years applied to the current salary cap, or 120 percent of the player's previous year's salary, whichever is greater. A non-exclusive franchise player may negotiate with other NFL teams, but if the player signs an offer sheet from another team, the original team has a right to match the terms of that offer, or if it does not match the offer and thus loses the player, is entitled to receive two first-round draft picks as compensation......................." $17 million plus draft picks? nope.
  8. I remember going into War Memorial with 2 six packs under you arm and no trouble getting in. '69 -> 71. Went to the first game at Rich and it wasn't allowed.
  9. I wonder if Ryan Bates is our "2020 OL draft pick". He has looked good whenever he played and played every position. His listed weight is 302, where as the rest of the linemen are 320 or more. Is that 302 weight correct and is he putting on more size (age 22)?
  10. WE should draft an offensive lineman in the first 3 rounds, nearly every year.
  11. https://brownswire.usatoday.com/2019/08/28/2020-nfl-draft-offensive-tackle-prospects-to-watch-for-in-2019/ Here are 10 possible offensive tackles who have the size and the skill to maybe add to the offensive line. I think that once you are past the top 15 picks, drafting a OT is starting to become more of a crap shoot. Most will be adequate, a few will flame out and a few will be really good. Use the 1st round pick on WR or DE and upgrade the OL with the second round pick.
  12. All of our DE except rookie Johnson are in decline. Time to do cuts, save $$ and bring in younger veterans, a high calibre stud, a 1st round pick or take a couple of shots 4th round or lower.
  13. I think you are on point, but are missing an aspect. The Bills were not this good early in the season........ Young players, a new offensive line, a smart strong QB learning how to take care of the football and when to take risks and how to read defenses, Ford and Oliver rookies were pieces in place, but they were inexperienced pieces....We have now had 2/3 of a NFL season and these pieces have had their on-the-job training against weaker teams......... They managed to win (just!) those games (keeping us in the hunt) and now have those mistakes and errors trained out of them. We now can take on much better teams and have better performance- not just potential........ The schedule has been our friend in development.
  14. That's true but each team has about the same chances of losing to and underdog and of upsetting a "better" team. We have struggled against some teams with few wins, so I don't like our chances.
  15. I would say so. Maybe, (takes several gulps from near empty bottle of Jaeger), they are tanking the season to get draft picks in the top 16 of each round. So they give Allen a forced learning experience and have him make passing mistakes to learn and get experience in reading coverages, going thu progresssions and make the right decisions. If he is handing the ball off all the time, he doesn't learn. Yeah, that it. Where did I leave that case of beer?
  16. It looks to me that the rest of the season is going to play out with the Bills just being on the outside of the playoffs. The rest of our schedule looks like this: WIN at Miami (2-7) WIN vs. Denver (3-6) LOSS at Dallas on Thanksgiving (5-4) LOSS vs. Baltimore (7-2) ???? at Pittsburgh (5-4) LOSS at New England (8-1) WIN vs. New York Jets (2-7) We are at 6 and 3. The above shows three wins and three losses, which puts us at 9 and 6, without adding in the Pittsburgh game. Pittsburgh is at 5-4 but has an easier schedule. They also have won 4 straight. WIN at Cleveland (3-6) WIN at Cincinnati (0-9) WIN vs. Cleveland (3-6) WIN at Arizona (3-6-1) ????? vs. Buffalo (6-3) WIN at New York Jets (2-7) LOSS at Baltimore (7-2) The Steelers are at 5 and 4. The above shows five wins and one loss, which puts them at 10 and 4, without adding in the Buffalo game. This may be the game that decides whether we have a post season.
  17. @ CLE -- W @MIA - W DEN _ W @DAL - L BAL _ L @PIT - W @NE - L NYJ - W This is what we should expect. 11-5. I think (62%) we might lose one of those games I have listed as a win and wind up 10-6, which will still get us to the playoffs.
  18. I say no trades, other then very low level trades to improve depth. We seem to be doing very good in drafting. Round 1. Pick 9 (9) Ed Oliver. DT Houston. ... Round 2. Pick 6 (38) Cody Ford. T Oklahoma. ... Round 3. Pick 11 (74) Devin Singletary. RB Florida Atlantic. Knox Round 5. Pick 9 (147) Vosean Joseph. LB Florida. ... Round 6. Pick 8 (181) Jaquan Johnson. S Miami (Fla.) ... Round 7. Pick 11 (225) Darryl Johnson. DE North Carolina A&T. TE Tommy Sweeney Every one of those players is either on the roster or stashed away for next year (Vosean Joseph). Joseph has good athletic skills but needs more training on playing discipline and recognition- so the jury is still out on him, while he gets coached up. We got 4 starters ( Oliver. Ford, Singletary, Knox ) and 3 rotational players (Johnson,% Johnson and Sweeney) from the draft. Let's keep our picks. These players are athletic and will get better. What I could see happening is a trade of one of our 4 tight ends for a future draft pick. From Knox, Kroft, Smith and Sweeney, I would like to trade Kroft, but with his injury, he would only have 2 games to demonstrate health before the Saturday 10-29 4PM deadline. He becomes a maybe, but is expendable because of the development of Knox and Sweeney. We could trade with either a contender OR a team out of the playoffs who would like to pick up a good proven player with a lower level pick. Sweeney for a higher 5th or 6th round pick anybody?
  19. I agree. Winning your division should be something for the fans to root for. It also gives an okay team in a weak division a chance and hope for the post season play.
  20. We can keep him on the roster as long as there is some breathing room there. He really doesn't have any trade value, except that maybe some 0-4 type team might give us a 6th or 7th round pick for him as a long shot beat that he comes to life. I understand that the 2020 draft has good quality in QB and WR. Maybe 5 QB and 10 WR with possible 1st round grades? We might use another 2nd round pick (with a lower draft pick to sweeten the deal and move up some picks) to go for a WR. (1st round pick is for a top LB or DE).
  21. Please look at the success of last year's draft and even the previous year's draft. I love that the Bills identify players that they want and use extra draft picks to move up and get them. Our starting MLB, OT/OG(?), TE, RB, and QB were all obtained this way. I think we should not trade away our first 3 round picks (because they are used to get starters), NOR even later round picks, (because they are used to sweeten these early picks up a couple of notches to get the player we want.) We have enough depth now and with a bye week we should heal up and be at full strength.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, "
  22. We don't have an fair read on that. Duke played against backups.
  23. The players in the league should put a price on Brady to let coaches know that deliberately hurting players will not be tolerated.
  24. I wonder if we even might be able to trade someone. We have Kroft coming off of injury soon and will need a roster spot
