  1. Here is a Wisconsin site reacting to a prediction that Taylor is the 6th best RB in the draft. The basis of that seems to be that he had a lot of carries in college. Funny thing- he didn't miss time with injuries, so you might think that proves he is robust. Oh well, experts always like to have something to so to make them look smart. https://badgerswire.usatoday.com/2020/04/09/nfl-com-analyst-has-jonathan-taylor-outside-of-the-top-five-running-back-prospects-in-his-latest-draft-rankings/
  2. Well if he goes into a snit and decides not to play and be a prima donna, Beane will probably ship his ass out. Do you really think the success of the Bills has to swing around a possible snit by Singletary? I don't think that he would have been drafted in the first place if he was that type.
  3. Two drafts ago Beane was not doing the drafting. You are correct, but I didn't say Beane had done that draft. Minor point.
  4. https://walterfootball.com/scoutingreport2020jtaylor.php College running backs usually are not asked to pass block, so they have to get coached up to do that. This guy has size, likes contact and should develop that. Taylor ran a 4.39 at the combine. Singletary ran a 4.66. Taylor can run inside or outside. He was targeted by the opponents. They didn't throw him many passes.
  5. Yeldon dressed for 4 regular season games as far as I could tell. I would be glad if we got one of the top 3 RB's. I think this guy would be RB1A by the middle of the season.
  6. Yes, I think there is a lot of "group think". There is also the famous "trending higher or lower" for this or that player. OK, the film is all still the same. The combine and campus visits are all done. There is very little change in the status of the players already on the rosters or FA signings. All GM's keep their cards close to their vests and praise every player on their roster to the hilt. (talk them up for a trade, hide where your team knows the holes are and keep the players happy). Yet, Joe Blow is not trending higher and ..... I have 3 daughters. I remember while they were growing up, hearing stories of rumors and mean-girl developments that made something out of nothing. I like to hear these rumors, but don't take them too seriously. That is interesting. Can you name the source for this?
  7. What round did we draft Diggs, Brown and Beasley? Well what happened to the wide receiver we drafted two drafts ago in the first round?
  8. I'm looking at our redshirt LB, Vosean Joseph, as this year's LB draftee.
  9. To explain in words: The way to get a 1st round pick (#31) would be to trade our 2nd and 3rd round picks AND next year's 2nd round pick. We could bundle our 2nd and 3rd round picks and move up 16 slots to #38. That would likely get us the 2nd 3rd or 4th RB. (I'm in favor of filling the missing RB hole with a guy who would be an upgrade on Singletary) We could bundle or 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks and move up 21 slots to #33. Almost in the first round. We could bundle our 2nd, 4th and 5th round picks and move up 9 slots to #45. We would still have a 3rd, 6th and 7th round pick. The Bills have moved up twice in the top of the draft in the last three years. We "moved up" in the 1st round, sort of, to get Diggs. I would not be surprised to see a second move up this year in the second round. Beane has said that he has no problem with moving up (and even overpayinga bit) to get a way undervalued player OR a superior player who is a good value at a position of need. A skilled front office will use the draft to get impact players. Smart planning is to use the FA to fill holes and get incremental improvements and known depth and then draft guys who are BOTH a BPA and at a position of need. You can get both. It is weak thinking to thing that "BPA" and "drafting at a position of need" are completely exclusive of one another.
  10. I don't see Singletary as a top 8 RB in the league and if we have a chance to get that sort of guy, it should be our first choice.
  11. Well Beane is the one who said "we need more touchdown makers or play makers". It is not laughable to talk about that direction.
  12. Notice that we are using our QB as a running back instead of Singeltary. Singletary (projecting his 12 games to 16 game stats), would have ~200 carries for 948 yards. Allen had 95 carries of 523 yards. So the QB has about half the yardage and carries as your RB1A. Allen is carrying a lot of the running game on designed running plays and short yardage situations. Do we really want him to get hurt? Hmmm. (Yes, I know that scrambles and run/pass options are part of his totals, but so are sacks).
  13. Those first round picks are stuffed full of draft points.
  14. OK, where are you going to get a top 32 RB in FA?
  15. s Because we need to have two good running backs and have somebody who is a top 10 back if we are going to go deep into the playoffs. Do some research and come back to us with 4 or 5 articles ranking the NFL running backs. I did, and never found Singletary ranked higher than #20. That is close to the bottom third of the league. Getting a RB in the 3rd or later round will give you a JAG and a guy who will be the 7th or later RB selected. Do you expect that guy to be better than the 7th others taken? (please, neither you or I are so smart to find Gale Sayers in the 5th round better than pro scouts). Do you expect that guy to be better than the existing 32 starters or maybe 50 "committee" RB1a/RB1b guys? Are you going to get a starting right tackle at pick #54?
  16. ..or we could buy a inexpensive but great Corvette for 4 years rather than getting a good price on a beat up Pinto.
  17. That is about right except most pundits see Swift as the 1st guy to go and to go to Miami at the bottom of the 1st round. Taylor might go to KC at #32, which would be unfair.
  18. WTF? They are loaded at starters and depth on the offensive line,,,, so they are going to draft ANOTHER offensive lineman, so that they can use him to replace one of the backups? And maybe flog the dropped backups for a late round draft pick?
  19. https://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/2020/04/former-nfl-gm-thinks-bills-gm-brandon-beanes-aggressive-style-is-winning-formula.html ..................
  20. That is a terrible post. He missed 4 games, but then the excuses come in. An undersized guy running between the tackles and you can't think that is going to work for a full season? If you want to just have a homer and root for "your guy" and be satisifed with, "we will do better next year". well then I have no problem with your view. His receiving did little to help the team, he never went wide as an extra receiver, he couldn't break away or get around the corner. But we can get another guy, not to push him the the bench but to back him up and not challenge him in the 4th round. Jessh !!
  21. Singletary is usually ranked about #20 for NFL running backs in 2019. I looked hard and that is about what I found. If you disagree, then find something in his production or other evaluations and show a couple that would change that. The RB gets 15-20 touches per game (https://www.lineups.com/nfl/player-stats/running-back-rb-touches). That is about 40% of the touches? Is this the place to put a 5th round player, when you are trying to get deep into the playoffs? Its okay to use the 5th round player if you just want to show up and sell tickets.
  22. WTF !!! I guess there is a guy who will play for the league minium and get 500 yards rushing if you play him most downs. He will be a REAL BARGAIN in the parameter {yards gained per dollar spent} or {yards gained per draft-board-point}. You have your eye on the wrong ball. ... ... I hope the Bills are TRYING TO GET TO THE SUPER BOWL AND WIN IT, rather than just keeping an almost competitive team on the field and making a modest profit. Please don't get swept away by all the very very very very very smart experts. What matters at the end of each game day is WHO SCORED MORE FIGGING POINTS, and not how clever they were in putting a team on the field or scoring fantasy points. A much better running back who can break some big plays ("a touchdown maker) and win some games,,,, as well has catching the figging ball and do some damage- which will help our WR as well,, is what the Bills are in the need of. But maybe we need a 3rd string rookie offensive tackle, who has a 1 in 4 chance of being a backup in two years and a 1 in 16 chance of being a starter. Sorry to rant.
