Gee, and NOBODY but you have figured out this opinion. So EVERYBODY who has RB's on their big board as 1st or 2nd round players are a stupid as a goldfish. You are the only one who has figured this out. Get a grip. They are smarter than you and I. They spend their life doing this as professionals. How much a year do they pay you for your opinion? I don't want to get harsh, but the big boards even from the google search have this calibrated into their positioning. -

Well they are not a dime a dozen, A quarter a dozen maybe? Colleges use about the same ratio of CB to WR as the pro's. ' -
Buffalo is getting a good player at 54
maryland-bills-fan replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that Aker is the 6th best RB. Swift will go to Miami and that leaves Dobbins or Taylor who might fall to the Bills. Everybody says that Tampa is going RB. That leaves only one of the top 5 to drop to us. There is some risk with Akers because he played with a poor line and a somewhat kinky style offense. #54 may be too high for him and he probably won't last until #86. As to the 4th round, remember there are an extra 10 compensation picks at the end of the 3rd round, so the 4th round starts at 107 and not 97. That means there are 40 picks between our 3rd and 4th round picks and that many more shots for other teams who have a need for a RB to get one. https://dknation.draftkings.com/2020/3/24/21183979/buffalo-bills-2020-nfl-draft-picks-full-list-needs-mock-draft-stefon-diggs-trade -

Well Opps. We can count on Chan drafting Swift at pick 39. He is a better Spiller. -

Have you noticed that KC drafted a RB in the first round? -

No. He is too old and has slowed down. I'll take Moss or Dillion over him. -

I go with Dobbins because he has proven that he can catch the ball out of the backfield. Taylor probably can do it- how well, I can't project that. -

Well, "as we do" could mean a lot of things. I don't think you have any information inside One Bills Drive, nor do I. Beane has said he wants "touchdown makers. Beane has said he needs more weapons for Allen. Beane has one legit RB (Singeltary) and then some special teams guys and one guy who was a healthy scratch for 12 of our games. Bean has stated and in the previous two years , traded up a number of picks to get the guy he wanted. Don't be suprised to see the same thing from our 54 pick. -

Well, don't you know that taking a good, pass-catching and rushing RB early in the draft is a terrible idea? We shouldn't follow the lead of a disfunctional franchise like KC. What have they ever done lately !! ................ ..................... Yea, he would have been great in Buffalo. I'm surprised as Swift was supposed to go way before Edwards-Helaire. -

No, get a better RB to be the RB1A. good point. IF WR is so deep, then a back up WR can be found in the 3rd round. I want another good or better running back, so we get more rushing yardage, RB receiving yardage and TD's from that position. We also need a guy who can drive the other team crazy by getting chunks of yardage in the passing game when Diggs and Brown get something like double coverage and stretch out the field. I think they are looking for a couple of starters or near starters in 2020 or guys with crazy potential. I think they would be happy with 3 solid draft picks. (I'm counting Diggs as a drat pick). Helare is off the table with KC's #32 pick. I don't think that Swift, Taylor nor Dobbins is going to be there at #54 for the Bills. Miami, Tampa and the Steelers (or another team) will probably take them with picks at 39, 45 & 49. We could trade up with the Jests to 48, which would cost our 4th and 5th round picks, in order to get ahead of the Steelers. (note that there are a lot of comp picks after the 3rd and 4th rounds https://www.drafttek.com/nfl-trade-value-chart.asp). If we don't get one of these top 3, then there is no reason to reach in the 2nd round. Moss, Allen or 4 or 5 other guys will be around to figure out how to get in the 3rd round. I think Akers would be too much of a risk at #54, unless we traded down in the 2nd. Maybe we could also trade up from our 3rd round to get two picks in the 50-60 range. -

They why did they use Gore and Allen in those goal line situations? The bills schemed around his limitations and made use of what he did well. -
Devin Singletary YPA vs 8Man box

.He didn't play in short yardage situations, so that inflated his yard per carry. They used the QB or Gore for those. He ran in a lot of 3rd and 25 situations and got 15 yards. Better punting field position and no risk of a pick6. The QB was used in short yardage situations rather than him. The QB had more than half the rushing yards of Singletary. He was about 16th in the league in rushing if you give him credit for 4 games he missed. (expected for an undersized guy running mainly between the tackles). I think yards gained is a good measure of a RB. I think TD's scored are a good measure for a RB. He is not top 10 in those- more like top 16. He had 4 TD's total for the year. We need a guy with break away speed and big play ability. We need a guy who is good in the passing game. We need a guy who can line up as a WR and be dangerous with single coverage. He was about #44 in RB receiving. NO, the Bills are smart enough to have passed a lot to him if it were effective. That is not the excuse. Singletayr is you complementary back and not the RB1A on a top team. -

You have never been to southern Ohio. Cinci and Covington are southern cities. Southern Illinois is really Dixie. There are a lot of border states like that. Calvert county in Maryland is very southern. Western Maryland is Yankee. .. Let alone the migration north during the depression and WWII. -
Devin Singletary YPA vs 8Man box
maryland-bills-fan replied to GoBills808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is true. They brought in Gore for those "need one yard for a TD or 1st down" plays. Singletary ran a lot on 1st down, when the DE were wide to contain Allen and the defense had to defend against both pass and run. The coaches were good. You set up every play to get the max yardage and most of the time it works. But Singletary didn't have many plays were 3 yards got the first down, which would bring down his averge. Also, the Bills played very conservative when they had a lead and at the end of the season. If they were ahead in score and in a 3rd and 25, they would often run a safe running play with Singletary, rather than risk a pick-6 or an incomplete. So a 15 yard run padded Singletary's yards per carry, but didn't get a first down. The other team would concede the unsuccessful run for NO first down. The Bills would be okay with getting 15 more yard of field position before the punt and with taking a minute off the clock. I have never been a fan of "how good his yards per carry" is as a measure of how good he is. Total yards, for the primary runner is the metric there. He was #22 in that (#17 if you gave him his average for the 4 games he missed as injured). That is not good enough if you are going to use your RB as a weapon to beat other teams. It is okay if you just want to look good an flirt with the playoffs. -
