  1. As to QB's for Miami, the top 2 (Lawence and Fiedls) will be gone, although Miami could easily move up to take either one, due to all their draft capital. (remember that moving up to get Allen was a 2 year affair). They could get Zack Wilson or Lance, who are the other top two. Little question of this although somebody could overpay and jump the que. There are also Trash (Florida), Newman (Georgia) and Jones(Alabama) who might be somewhere in the lower part of round 2. There is also a potential trade from Houston, which looks like it is in a meltdown. They could get rid of the unhappy QB and draft a new one with the #3 pick. I don't know why Tua looked so bad last year and pretty good in college. Maybe there is a hidden injury or something of the like. I don't think it would cost that much. The #3 pick and a high second might do it. They have to unload him and the cap is down.
  2. Yes we could. No we won't. Successfully drafting a QB, even in the top 15, is a real crap shoot and you don't give one up once you find one. When you are in a position to have a window to the super bowl then you take it.
  3. Please !!! Go back to your high school English teacher and correct your sentence " Its like, yeah, I know this is wrong but this is how the source had it and I am just copying what they did, I'm not the idiot, they are sort of thing.". Then you will be fully qualified to be a language nazi on a football fan site. It does seem to be down this year. We have no running game. I would be surprised if there are more than 3 RB's taken in the first two rounds this year- and not because of the run on them last year.
  4. Yes we dominated in that second game. Scores can get run up. We won the first game by only 3 points and most of the game was a one score difference. Remember that they are a younger team than we are and we are just about to get into big new contracts and losing some aging players, while they are young and on cheap contracts. I would be surprised to see in the next year or two, that they use their good cap position to splurge on some FA's to put them over the top.
  5. The phins were a tough out this year. What improvements might come to them from the draft? They made a good trade with Houston and picked up their 1st and 2nd round picks for this year. Right now they have the following picks in the top 50: (note: the Bills have ONE.) #3 overall, 1st round third pick #18 overall, 1st round 18th pick #36 overall, 2nd round 3rd pick #50 overall, 2nd round 18th pick Of course they already have their QB, so that 3rd pick is a luxury. Let's say they flip it for (sic) two #14 picks. Well you can't do that, but say they flip one of those #14 picks for a #23 and a #53. Then they would have: #14 overall, 1st round 14th pick #18 overall, 1st round 18th pick #23 overall 1st round 23rd pick #36 overall, 2nd round 3rd pick #50 overall, 2nd round 18th pick AMMENDMENT: yes we blew them out the very last game. We beat them by 3 points in the first game. #55 overall, 2nd round 23rd pick and #67 overall 3rd round pick. That is FIVE new players in the top 50 (which is considered the most likely place to get starters). 14. Patrick Surtain, CB, Alabama. (first CB taken) 18. Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama. (first or second DT taken) 23. Kenny Gainwell, RB, Memphis. (2nd RB) 36. Marques Stevenson, WR, Houston. 50. Richard LeCounte, S, Georgia. etc (players form walter football- chose you own) OK, they have 4 or 5 picks in the top 50. We have one. . . I am not very happy. Next year is going to be a dog fight. <<<<<yes we blew them out in the last game and they imploded. They are building and are a combination of scrubs and recent higher draft picks. We won the first game, with Fritz QB the whole way, by 3 points. >>>>>
  6. Especially drafting near the bottom of each round.
  7. Heh? Generally that is a good idea, but applying a general idea to rule a specific situation is often unwise. If you car is getting low mileage, it is a generally good idea to check to see if the carbarator is working well. But if someone tells you that you have 4 flat tires, well, there is a better place to look for improvements. Our lack of a very good running back killed us. We need a very good running back more than we need somethings like "the highest rated player is a QB" or "the highest rated player is a kicker" or "the highest rated player is a WR".. Putting an extra layer of chrome where there is enough NO. Fixing what is broken. YES. Last year I would have been happy with (Helaire32- remember , he played for that team we played last Sunday, and was drafted in the first round),, Swift35, Taylor41, (Akers 52 no) or Dobbins55. There were 4 more RB;s drafter before Moss {Gibson(#66) would have been a steal, but most people(me too) missed him}. We drafted the 10th running back at #80. Please forget about the story "you can always get a good RB in the 3rd round". The teams that wanted a good running back do differently. We had a good record this year and have poor draft picks. I think we have picks 30, 62 & 94 in the first 3 rounds and then no picks until round 5. (Diggs trade). Last year there were a lot of good running backs- not so much this year. #30 may be too high, #62 is too low. What I would like to see is trading those first two picks to get two picks in the #40->#50 range. You probably never would get the exact trades as you scheme, but #30 and #62, could work out to get #39 (7th in 2nd round0 and #50 (18th in second round). That would avoid overpaying for the RB with the first round pick and satisfy getting the "BPA" for the actual draft pick we walked up to the podium with. Now they can't double the WR's and if they play man-to-man the RB get head start on the DB's. Deep safeties are NOT in the box. We can run around the edge. We can do screen passes. They have to protect more of the field. You have to threaten chunk yardage plays and there is another weapon.
  8. Well, I want somebody who can give us additional types of plays. Being able to get around the corner. Being able to take a handoff from the QB under center and burst through the LOS and past the LB. Being able to take the dump pass for a long carry. Being able to split out as a WR and blow past a LB who tries to cover him. All these things get a lot of yards on their own. All these things mean we don't have wide receivers playing with broken legs from getting hit too much in a long season All these things mean that the defenses can not sit on the passing plays because WE CAN'T HURT THEM with the running game.
  9. Gee, the guy who can make a difference between a play going 3 yards and 70 yards.....AT least 10-20 times a game .. is a wasted asset? Dude, sit down and do some thinking.
  10. I agree with your viewpoints. I am also getting tired of the "all we need is somebody else's rejects to be a modest replacement on Singletary/Moss" sthick. Moss was the 10th running back drafted in 2020. Not good enough. We could have had Dobbins, who was drafted after Epenessa. Remember in the Ravens game, Dobbins was going around the edge for some big gains. We don't have that. We can draft that. IT means giving up some other eye candy. Give us a list of UFA running backs who are tearing up the league. It is called a cheap sucker shot.
  11. That is a reason to have a RB who can hurt the other team with a big chunk of yardage. Yes, an underneath route would work, but not just to someone who can catch an uncontested 3 yard pass and then get 1.23 yards of YAC. ... ... A burner. Get 15 to 50 yards. Force the linebackers to cover the short zones. Force the DB to have to watch the QB and RB as well as just shadowing the WR.
  12. Helair #32,,, Swift #35, Taylor #41, Akers #52,,,Dobbins #55,,, Dillion #62,,,,,Gibson #66,,,,Vaugh #76.....Bowden #80. This year we drafted the 10th running back. A draft pick in 15-50 range is not spending the farm.
  13. The ravens put a former DE as a fullback- lead blocker in the backfield. No. That gives you 6 yards instead of 5 yards on every play but never anything more. We need a guy who will get 4.5 yards on most plays and 35 yards 5 times a game.
  14. look at their 40 yard dash time. Look at how many times, we gave them a pitch toss and asked them to beat the defense to the edge. Look at how many times, we gave them a pitch toss and asked them to beat the defense to the edge. Look at how many times, we gave them a pitch toss and asked them to beat the defense to the edge.
  15. Taylor, Dobbins, Swift and Hailaire were there last year. We could have traded up for Taylor and Dobbins was picked just after our 2nd round pick, which went for a serviable but not elte DE. Nope. That just gives 3-5 yards. We can take a athletic college DE and get that. We need a burner.
  16. I think he had a progression of plays figured out that he would call one after another. If "A" worked, then defensive player z would be thinking xx on the next play and the counter was "b".... He got lost when "a" got stuffed and didn't have a plan b
  17. Sorry to see you go. Are you buying a Brian Greasy foot ball jersey?
  18. I agree but I would first get a speedy stud RB to added more pages to the playbook and then another CB.
  19. Here is what I don't understand. I've been a manufacturing engineer where moving material through a line quicker AND with improved decision steps has help the company (and $$ me). There are 25 seconds to get a play off. There are "hurryup" offenses (J.Kelly) that go to the line quickly to freeze the defenses and then select their plays. If the QB is under center, quick interior runs are effective. They also don't broadcast that any run is going to be slow developing. Being in the shotgun is good for seeing the field and what method the DB are using and who might blitz. But it limits the running game. ... WTF don't they get the play in quicker and flip between under-center and shotgun, even do two changes? More eye candy for the defense and fewer limitations on the type of plays to be avaiable. There is another level of confusion to bring to the defence,,, like the KC technique of having a WR/RB run around in circles in the backfield before a snap.
  20. A few tokes on the sidelines should do it.
  21. Well, I agree and disagree. "Being able to run the ball when needed"... if you could run the ball WHEN they know you NEED to run the ball,,,, well why not do it every down? The running game needs to be a threat for chunk yardage AND more than just a way to get to being able to have a 2nd and 5, or 3rd and 2, move the chains. That does not get yardage and that does not help set up the passing game. You gotta have a THREAT before they respect the running game enough to help the passing game. I want to see a good running back a high pick CB and a lot of shots at defensive linemen.
  22. Somehow we have maybe two DL and a bunch of JAGs. Got us one game from the superbowl.
  23. One player AFTER Espessa, the Ravens took Dobbins. Fist team all american. 4.44 sec dash time. Singletary did 4.66 and Moss did 4.65 later improved to 4.52. The first couple of 2020 WR (walter football) clocked at 4.5 4.45 4.27 4.55 4.43 4.42. ... Dobbins looks more like wide receiver than a running back. Everybody missed the preseason, Dobbins missed most of the 1st six games with minor injuries nd more with Covid. What I saw in the Ravens game is that he could beat our people to the outside and had a couple of nice runs around the corner. We don't have that in our playbook. We don't have the screen pass as a danger for a chunk yardage pickup. It might be 10-15 yards. It is never going to be 45 to 60 yards. We don't have somebody like T.Thomas who can sneak out just beyond the LOS, take a short flip and go for 15 yards almost routinely. ..... ........ In addition, to the yardage, it changes the defences. DB are NOT going to be able to play 6 DB on 3 WR and keep their eyes on the WR the whole time. Why? https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/jk-dobbins-ravens-ohio-state-running-backs/50vkayzy7ese1vum9gq9vtx6a
  24. I think that they didn't have an answer when the Chiefs smothered out set of slightly banged up receivers. They were smart enough to figure out that they could pass rush every play because we had no running backs that had enough speed to hurt them around the corners or get a big chunk if they got through the LOS. In prior games we used the steady passing attack to make yardage AND open up various deception plays. We never got off the dime on the passing.
