Nick O'Leary Signs a 1-Year Extension with Miami
Needle replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No one is crying. Alot of us just saw O'Leary as a nice backup piece. He delivered a handful of times he was called on and is still young. By all professional accounts he is an above average blocker too. Adam Gase has had alot of success at the TE position and he drafted two in the first four rounds last year. He must think something of O'Leary too. I don't mind Croom or Thomas but I would bet both are out of the league alot sooner than O'Leary. It's no great mistake by the Bills. It might just be a small one though. This staff has been hell bent on purging draft picks from the last regime. He was just next I guess. -

True he is not hard to replace. I don't think it matters too much at all. He might carve out a career and he might not. We need significant upgrades on the side of the ball. I really wanted Vance McDonald to be our guy. -

He's 26. Look around the league and you will find tons of quality players who have spent time on practice squads. You will find players who have had to bounce around with different teams until they found their place. You will find TEs that don't fill the fantasy stat sheet but organizations value. Your argument makes it seem like guys can't develop or that anyone less talented than "Jimmy Graham" are worthless. It's a low risk signing that hasn't hurt the Dolphins in the least. You can chase the Charles Clay's if you want but I'd like to see more player development from this team. Also keeping a guy like O'Leary around hardly probibits you from looking for more TEs. -
I EXPECT a BIG GAME from Josh vs. the Dolphins

I see what you did there! I'm a little slow tonight. We haven't thrown much this decade. ? -

Dolphins have a strong secondary this year. Its not going to be easy in their house. -

Complete nonsense. Good teams sign reliable backups on the cheap. He will stick around the NFL for awhile -

He's not a bad player. Most Bills fans could see his improvement from year one. I bet the Bills wish they had kept him over the flashier practice players. He's not a huge loss though. -

Good for Nick! I love players that grind out careers. He is a contributor which is more than we have at the moment. -
I think he has a big game. It has to be killing him, having such a dismal year by his standards. I give him alot of credit for remaining a strong team guy. He has remained loyal to the coaching staff and teammates especially. I hope Bills fans realize that in today's NFL that quality of leadership isn't easy to come by. Hopefully they get him and Allen the help they need for next year.

1. Kareem Hunt was the aggressor. 2. The outrage is magnified by the video. 3. The assault itself was not all that outrageous. Unacceptable but not "graphic" like many of the outlets are labeling it. 4. Kareem Hunt seems a little too comfortable putting his hands on a woman he barely knows. It says alot about him. 5. The punishment will not fit the crime. He committed a relatively minor misdemeanor according to our laws and will lose millions. This type of disgusting behavior can be found in most places alcohol is consumed. I dont feel bad for him though. Just like I don't feel bad for the guy who gets stomped for hitting a girl outside a club or bar.

RPOs are being run with great success all over the league. They are definitely going to increase next season as Mahomes and others clean up. Hill gives the Saints the ability to run those plays. I think teams will continue to look for guys like Hill, especially if you have a pocket passer starting. Lamar Jackson has been serving that role too.

Ed Oliver won't be a Buffalo Bill
Needle replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't love the idea of him trying to take the coat off but I watched it again and still doesn't seem aggressive. I'd like to think most kids should be able to handle this with out going off the rails though. I think other posters have it right that there is more to the story than a coat. Its possible that Applewhite has done other questionable things too. It's just assumed Oliver is a pre Madonna. The only thing we have is this particular instance and I still think the guy needing to be restrained looks worse. I wouldn't hold back in drafting him though. Everyone has regrettable moments. Probably Applewhite too. Let's face it, he likely put himself in a no win situation digging in on a lame rule. His players could have had his back though. -

Yes he put is hand on coat and motioned that he needed to take it off. It was non threatening and hardly aggressive. Was it a mistake? No doubt. The reaction to that mistake? Absurd Is this a generational thing? I don't mean it as a slight, I'm not dumping on any age group. I am sincerely asking because I can't wrap my head around it. I am pushing 40 and have had many instances of hands on mentoring throughout my life. I dont see what Applewhite did as aggressive at all. I see alot of people saying Oliver is a "grown man" and you don't that. Really seemed minor to me. I don't think he will do it again though Lol. I don't think Applewhite is easier to replace than Oliver. Players like Oliver stick around for a couple of years. A great coach can change your program for decades. Applewhite could be that guy for all we know and Ed Oliver is already gone. -

The coach did conduct himself to higher standard. He walked away from the conflict and protected his players image after the game. Was he not supposed to address an athlete on his team blowing him off? Other players took the coats off without issue. Life is filled with rules that you may not like or understand but you can't rage on someone over it. Oliver doesn't have to be a part of the team. No one is forcing him to play for this coach. If he doesn't like it, he should walk away. Applewhite has a job to do and it doesn't revolve around doing things in a way Oliver would prefer. Oliver has played a couple of seasons for Houston, big deal. They will continue to do just fine after he goes pro. -

I've read that a handful of players came out with jackets on and when asked to follow the rules they removed them. Oliver obviously didn't and that was probably just a breaking point for a frustrated staff. Oliver is sitting out to protect his future and I completely understand that. Trying to run around and make leaping OBJ style catches during warmups is clueless though. I don't agree with notion that a coach has to let him get away with this stuff because he's a great talent. I actually think coaches that ignore disrespectful behavior are doing a disservice to the kid. I wouldn't cross Oliver's name off my list though. He is a kid and talented. It makes sense to do your due diligence and look into him but keep in mind that many of these prospects will have work to do on their self control. They are superstars in their world and have to grow into it. -
I think Peterson is an anomaly and is genetically superior to everyone else. The year after he ruined his knee, was one of the most amazing things I have ever witnessed in sports. I have always thought he might be the best RB ever. I do think Shady can be a big contributor into his 30s. Ideally I would like to see a shift into a committee approach. The wear and tear can be controlled without much of a dip in overall production.

I want to apologise for getting a little stupid with you before. I got some bad news today and was not really myself. Please don't take it personal.

Just heard an interesting Eli rumor (not Bills related)

I think Carr is worse off. Dak can make plays but is limited by his arm talent. Carr to me looks mentally ruined. He desperately needs a new situation. -

Oh yeah, so many of our fellow fans are batting .1000 with their recollection of who they liked each draft. -

Do you honestly think so? I think he has been brutal for awhile now. -
I have to admit, I have no idea what your point is. You have posted numerous times in this thread with contradicting points and some incoherrant thoughts all together. Your screen name and explanation is bizarre. What Bills fan would like to keep that theme going? Is that clever to you? It makes myself and others question your reasons for being here. Carry on with the game I guess.
