Peterman will never live down the 5-pick half . . .
Needle replied to Dr. K's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A situation like that can sometimes fuel a person's drive to work harder or focus more. I dont think Peterman needs to be Brady in order to be satisfied with his career. Half wits need him to fail, so they can congratulate themselves on a message board. -
This is a thread for those that want to complain about an expense in their life. Here is mine: Daycare 1. Two kids in for four days a week (1 already done) $2,000-$2,400 a month depending on 4-5 week month. 2. My 7 year olds dance class, twice a week $250 a month. That one is not happening because she isn't in love with dance. Still blows my mind that I had to talk my wife out of it. Let's hear yours. Hookers and blow type answers are welcome too.

Goodwin has looked significantly better since his track career officially ended. He was also very fragile in his time here. I wouldn't be surprised to see his trouble staying healthy continue. As talented as he is, his body isn't NFL friendly. I don't blame the Bills for not bringing him back. Woods was the mistake.

Jalen Ramsey trash talking a lot of QB's
Needle replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I didn't find the qb comparisons racist. I think he obviously goes easy on the black qbs though. I also think him saying "he is trash" is a very intentional use of description for Allen. -

The defense will miss Preston Brown this season
Needle replied to Rufridr101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Preston Brown was more solid against the run than many Bills fans will give him credit for. He wasnt strong in coverage though and that doesn't work in this defense. He will stick in the NFL though. He's only 25 years old and not every defensive scheme will call for the same responsibilities. Pro Football Focus had him graded as the 5th most reliable tackler in the league. For whatever that's worth, and I'm not saying it's everything. We are better off with Edmunds but I agree with the OP. He will have some growing pains this year and I think it will be more often in the run game. -
Are The Bills Mafia’s Tailgate Antics An Embarrassment?
Needle replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of course it's embarrassing. I don't personally feel a responsibility but I'm sure the team and NFL have discussed fan behavior across the country. It's not a Buffalo problem exclusively. On a side note, I find the whole Bills Mafia thing to be as lame as you can get. -
I agree 100 percent on the Mexican fighter opinion. They push the action and never give an inch. I love their tradition of courage in the ring.

How long do you keep leftovers in the frig?
Needle replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
3-4 days on almost everything, depending on the leftover. I only make a single meals worth of fish. The dog starts getting some small portions of meat over his dry food after the 4 day mark. I also eat every leftover cold. I think it tastes better than reheated. I mean every leftover, from steak, to soup, to chilli, to restaurant leftovers.....everything. -
[edited title] Robert Foster, UDFA - Roster shot?
Needle replied to Bronxbomber21's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The video of his highlights didn't do much for me. The fact that every play was at or behind the line of scrimmage says a ton. -
I have a small painting business in Rochester. We occasionally have to do a favor for a property management company and paint a house right in the heart of the ghetto. It isn't alot of fun as you have to constantly be aware of what's going on around you but it is highly entertaining. I have witnessed all sorts of crazy stuff over the years. One time we were painting in a really rough neighborhood. It was an absurdly hot day and nobody was out walking around. We were sitting on the front porch of this empty house, taking a break, and eating lunch. One of my guys sees an animal strolling up the street about a block away. It is bigger than a dog and hard to identify. The animal continues in our direction and eventually makes it into our driveway. It was a miniature pony, like you would see at the state fair or something! It had no identification. It came right up to the porch steps and looked for attention. We gave it water and it stood there for awhile. I called animal control and they came out but it had continued down the road already. They had no idea where it came from and I don't know the final results.

You are competing against teams playing by the same rules. I would disagree with it making the draft less important. Instead I would say it marginally might change your strategy in the players you target. Talented players on rookie contracts are a hot commodity. Rookies are having huge impacts every year.

Who was the best QB from the 2004 Class?
Needle replied to section122's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ben Rivers Eli Ben was an easy top choice for me. Rivers and Eli were very close. Gave it to the guy who I thought was more consistent over the course of his career. Eli has had great moments but has also looked absolutely brutal for long stretches too. I don't remember Rivers ever having a long run of poor play. -
Kick The Tires on Brandon Marshall?
Needle replied to YodaMan79's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Brandon Marshall has put football 2nd to his TV career. I respect his football resume, I just don't know what his motivation level would be. If I was convinced otherwise, I'd be all for kicking the tires. -
Semper Fidelis He was a Marine Corps. Drill Instructor at Paris Island before he was an actor. Kubrick told him to do his thing for many of the scenes.

Shaquem Griffin - Linebacker UCF
Needle replied to I'm Spartacus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
UCF had an amazing season last year and college football had a chance to watch this kid because of it. You can't help but literally focus on him for every defensive snap. So here is what my lowest level scouting saw. 1. Tremendous effort 2. Exceptional speed 3. Surprisingly stong tackling. I think he developed a more disciplined wrap up style of tackling because of his hand. He doesn't have the opportunity for the bad habit of grabbing jerseys. 4. He can't shed blocks, major concern for me. Perhaps SS is a better spot like a bunch of posters have already said. 5. Pass defense is not an issue with the speed and he has shown consistent ability to knock down the football. The shedding of the blocks is a huge ? at LB in my opinion though. -
I don't think you can coach up a guy and make him great. You can however mismanage a QB prospect and not get the most out of him. We have seen QBs thrust into action too soon and get shell shocked. We have also seen QBs who have had new offensive schemes to learn year after year. Outside of the all time greats, I think the coaching atmosphere can have a huge impact on a QBs trajectory. An interesting story to this point, was the success of Jeff Fishers former QBs this past year.
-
I share the same concerns as you. The QB coach was a strange hire. I am still cautiously optimistic too but it requires a lot of blind faith. I guess it mostly depends on the player they get. Nobody has developed a stud QB without having a stud prospect. I do think you can screw up a good QB by mismanaging him. I

It is a simple question that I have been thinking about for months now. I have no answer to it yet but I am curious to what others think. 1. I am of the opinion that we trade up at all costs. I don't think whether we can properly develop a QB or not should determine whether or not we try. You have to be in it to win it and you don't win sitting back. 2. My fear is not whether or not we can get our hands on a talented rookie QB, it's whether or not we can develop him. Do we have the correct coaching staff for this? How quickly can we re-stock a shell of an offensive roster? Will our QB be forced to start too early because of the lack of a proven starter on the roster? 3. At what point does a talented QB outweigh his surroundings and develop regardless? Is there a guy like that in this draft? 4. I am a Rosen fan. I haven't said it anywhere yet but I have liked him the best for awhile now. I like his intelligence and accuracy. I also like his personality, in my experience the best leaders are people think outside the box. I defer to anyone who wants to weigh in on the QB development questions. I know many here will have more knowledge than me.

I feel terrible for the kid. Imagine what that feels like seeing the video and knowing it will be with you forever. I hope he is resilient. I hope karma hits the douchebag recording it and leaking it. I know it's been common place a long time now but it doesn't make it right.

Fans "really like" about 100 different guys pre-draft. Look through the threads and you will see posters talking up everyone. I am guilty of the same kind of excitement. Fans have the fortunate position of not having to choose just one or two of the 100. So when a pick doesn't work out, many fans point to the guy they "really liked" and say I could have done a better job. The reality is they aren't experts and can't do the job of a GM from their home computer. Furthermore, no one here knows anything about the specific talks the Bills have had with other teams. The OP is 100 percent correct in saying that posters are talking with absolute certainty about things they have zero proof of. It's out of frustration sure but still not credible.

Daniel jeremiah mock has a key Bills message
Needle replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Count me in the camp that thinks Jackson and Taylor are similar in style. I am also someone who never felt Taylor was far off from being a good starting QB. To me Taylor has always been prepared, made consistent reads, a strong leader and teammate. It was his execution that was up and down. The carousel of offenses and lack of weapons certainly had an effect on that. Another understated hurdle has been his height in my opinion. I have always felt it was a major cause in his tentativeness. Jackson has superior tools. The similarity lies in their ability to escape pressure. Neither strike me as a run first QB though. I think having similar QBs with that extra gear allows a coordinator to create a playbook that takes advantage of both QBs. I also think the Taylor and Jackson combo makes a ton of sense. I like both players on this team.
