So that means our schedule has the most rest built into it in the AFC?
-
I mean it’s special for sure, but just wondering if it qualifies as primetime. Or if we could wind up with 6 night games plus the thanksgiving game? Not sure how the NFL classifies some of these specialty games
-
Yea does playing on Thanksgiving at 1 pm count towards the max of 6 primetime games that can be scheduled?
-
A lot will be made of how the Rams are 5-0 in season openers since McVay got there, if we get that opening night game. Of those 5 opponents none of them finished the year with more than 6 wins…I will like our chances

Basham is a funny player because he is pretty athletic (9.38 RAS) despite definitely carrying a little extra weight. He is also much stubbier 6’3’’, sub 33 inch arms than the outside pass rushers we normally prefer like AJE and Groot. He is definitely an effort and diagnosis player, he isn’t great at winning initially off the edge but is pretty good at diagnosing the play after structure starts to break and going to where the play is going to be. Last year when they drafted him they mentioned him playing a little on the inside as well. If he can convert some of his body fat to muscle and keep his weight he may be able to handle it inside in pass rushing scenarios. Im actually pretty hopeful for him this year, though I agree with others who have said they see him as potentially good but likely not great pass rusher.

Do the schedule makers want to give the Bills the season opening game two years in a row? 2022…and 2023 😄

Giants prepared to release CB Bradberry (now released)
LEBills replied to billsbackto81's topic in The Stadium Wall
If Bradbury wants to play on a one year deal so he can cash in next year when Free Agency opens, signing with Buffalo would be a great opportunity. Gets a chance at a SB, gets to just be one piece in an excellent defense where he won’t have to be the guy in the secondary, and it was McDermotts defense that he started off in Carolina that led to his first big contract. I still think he goes elsewhere for more money, even just on a one year deal. But he could do a lot worse than signing with us this late in the offseason. -
Cowboys always have the inside track though they were the opener last year so maybe we will get a break If I had to guess it would be the Broncos, NFL likes the star QB in new situation storyline and Russ is formerly of the NFC West The Bills are probably second most likely after the Broncos imo

We are going to beat the **** out of the Titans
-
At Baltimore just feels like a MNF game to me. Bills/GB will probably be a 4:25 Fox game if I had to guess and Bills/Chiefs an early season CBS 4:25 game At LAR for the season opener and at Cinci for another Sunday night game The Amazon game I’d guess would be with Browns or Miami

Giants prepared to release CB Bradberry (now released)

Beane was on One Bills Live right after the draft and they asked him about adding other Free Agents and Beane basically said they don’t have room with the top 53 cap at the moment. Im sure if they want a player bad enough they would make a move but with Tre trending towards week 1, Elam and Dane, I would be surprised if they brought Bradberry in. -
New Bills RB Raheem Blackshear sees himself “like a Deebo Samuel”
LEBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
I hope he is second Deebo! Realistically, he is slap fighting Taiwan Jones for a roster spot -
Rd 6, Pick 180 (1): Punter Matt Araiza, San Diego State
LEBills replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think what I learned from that article is we should try to get Drew Hartlaub (PSU #37) who just signed as a UDFA with the Panthers. Dude saved three of Stout’s punts from going into the end zone in those handful of examples -
Tannehill sucks and Malik probably should learn to do the opposite of many of the things he does. I get that he didn’t sign a contract that said “I will mentor the next guy” and none of us would want be training our replacement at our job. But the NFL is a different animal. And if you want to stick in the league as much as possible you have to be willing to embrace those roles. looking forward to the Titans implosion this year!

Rd 2, Pick 63 (31): RB James Cook, Georgia
LEBills replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I mean John Stewart had 198 carries that year and Cam Newton had 139. Maybe it will be less but I think less than 12 touches a game is possible for Cook but we won’t know until the season -
Rd 2, Pick 63 (31): RB James Cook, Georgia
LEBills replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Chris McCaffrey had just shy of 200 touches (117 rushes, 80 catches) his rookie year. I’d say that is probably what we could expect for Cook -
Rd 5, Pick 148 (5): WR Khalil Shakir, Boise St
LEBills replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yea he does have a hitch, it was pointed out by some of the draft evaluators as well and may be part of the reason - along with the 29 inch arms - he dropped to round 5. I think the hitch can be coached out of him and really let his 97th percentile 1.49 ten yard split shine -
In case anyone is wondering, the list as seen when I paused the video was: MJ Emerson CB Miss St -BROWNS Luke Fortner C UK - JAGS Bryan Cook S Cincinnati - CHIEFS Zakoby McClain LB Auburn - RAVENS James Cook RB Georgia - BILLS Wan’Dale Robinson WR UK - GIANTS Nik Bonitto EDGE OK - BRONCOS Perrion Winfrey DL OK - BROWNS Channing Tindall LB Georgia - DOLPHINS Deangelo Malone LB W.Kentucky-FALCONS Tyrion Davis-Price RB LSU - 9ers Marcus Jones CB Houston - PATS Terrel Bernard LB Baylor - BILLS So Shakir wasn’t on that list though he said he was and he said that he loves him. Bills still had 2 on there (Cook and Bernard) and I guess Shakir was an honorable mention. EDIT: forgot to type one: Matthew Butler DT - UTenn- RAIDERS

Max prime time games that can scheduled is 5 per league rules. A sixth can be flexed but that wouldn’t be on the initial schedule.

Cook for me. If used right, he can be our version of Deebo because he is as effective in the backfield as he is out wide. The type of running back that fits in perfectly in our high flying passing attack.

Of the serious SB Contenders who had the best draft?
LEBills replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
The ont thing about that is they had so many chances to have a good draft because they traded away their all-pro receiver. So not sure how much of a net gain it was for them. -
Definitely came out of the draft with some interesting pieces this year. I said in another thread that I was overall disappointed in the offense. Elam should fortify the one weakness on our defense so that’s good. Cook, if used correctly, could be a defense busting chess piece. However, I envision his best usage being someone who can flip the 2TE system we hear we are going to run from a heavy running formation to a speed receiving formation. Unfortunately, for a team we expect to go 2TE a good amount, out TE2 will have to emerge from OJ Howard (unproductive and coming off major injuries), Tommy Sweeney (not a good player), Quentin Morris and Jalyn Wydermyer (two UDFAs). Would have been nice to inject some real talent behind Knox in round 3 rather than a backup linebacker. But McD gets what he wants for defense first and foremost. I do love Shakir and think he will be our starting slot receiver by the playoffs, he is really good. I share your concern that we didn’t give ourselves even a lottery ticket by drafting a late rounder WR with some outside ability like Westin, Kevin Austin, Connor Tanner. Their are FAs out there still but would have been nice to try to build our WR depth. I have a feeling Tenuta’s father, a long time football coach, has connections to this regime and so like with Prohl a few years ago the Bills draft them as a tip of the cap to a friend. Though I don’t know that, just speculation. Overall another draft is in the books, our roster is better now than before the draft which can’t be said for some other teams. And I am excited and hopeful that our first 6 picks make a real impact. I just hope between now and next years draft McDermott realizes he has to put a premium on drafting playmakers and protection for our best player - Josh Allen, even if it means having a hole or two on the defense.
-
To be honest, it was a bit of an underwhelming draft for me. The success of the draft will all fall on Elam’s shoulders. If he becomes the next Tre, it will be a success. He has the tools to get there. However, I feel like we did not do much to help the offense with only 2 of our 8 picks being playmakers for Josh. As much as we as a fan base like to say how deep our team is, we are quickly getting thin at a few important positions. At WR, Steph and Gabe are the only players really built to run on the outside. Crowder, McKenzie, Hodgins, Stephenson and even Shakir (who I think will be a great WR for us) are built best for the slot. Kumerow can play outside but definitely not ideal. We are supposedly going to be running a lot of 2TE sets with Dorsey. Yet we have Knox who we hopefully resign, OJ Howard who is a 1 year rental and has not been good lately, and Tommy Sweeney who was not good and whose contract ends after this season. We have Quinton Morris and now Wydermyer as UDFAs but would have been nice to draft someone more talented if we plan on lots of 12 personnel going into the future. As a Bills fan, I will be hoping and praying that all of our picks become studs. But I feel like we can do a lot more in the future to make sure our most important player - Josh - is protected and given enough playmakers to maximize his otherworldly talent.
