  1. The Bills continue to call spread formations even though the Browns are dropping 8 guys into coverage. Of course nobody is open. This is playcalling at its worst.
  2. The Browns are dropping 8 guys into coverage. The coaching staff needs to make some adjustments here. This isn't rocket science.
  3. If he calls an empty formation on 3rd and 1 again he should be fired.
  4. Who the hell do we have to bribe on the coaching staff to get them to call a play-action pass?
  5. It's a shame that every bit of deserved praise for Edwards has to be tempered by Losman's presence on the team. It really sucks that Losman, a nice guy with raw talent, never was able to fully grasp what is needed to run an NFL offense in the 4 years he has been on the team. Edwards has, and the team and the fans should be able to recognize what their young QB has accomplished without having the wet-blanket Losman constantly thrown over them. Edwards should no longer be compared with Losman. The way he is playing, he should be compared to the better or best QBs in the league. I don't think anyone in their right mind would say the same about Losman. So enough with JP. Edwards should have the full support and belief of his teammates, regardless of Losman's hurt feelings.
  6. I agree with you and would argue that the Bills look their best when they're not playing a straight C2 or Tampa 2 defense. The defense looked its best against the Jags and the Seahawks, and they made their biggest plays when they were playing more of a zone-blitz scheme than a cover 2.
  7. I don't find this game indicative of the way the defense has been playing. Coming into the game they were the best in the league at defending 3rd down. They have always been a good red zone defense under Jauron. They have turned the ball over with regularity this season. They've done a good job of defensing the pass. They've been successful with LB and DB blitzes. They've made good adjustments in second halves of games. I don't know why the team chose to game-plan the Cards like they did, but it is a far cry from the creativity that the coaching staff has shown over the last two seasons (what happened to the "Creep?"). It's impossible to judge how good or bad a team is in any one game, but if you look at the way that they trend over a handful of games, their level of ability can be more accurately judged, and they have shown over the course of this season that they are a pretty good defense.
  8. The game wasn't over after that fumble.
  9. They swing him out wide, which would work great if they had pressure up the middle to flush the QB out of the pocket. They tried some weird stunts today, but they were ineffective. They used Poz to blitz up the middle the first few games, but they dropped him back in coverage the entire game. Mitchell came up the middle today, through the gap caused by Schobel's wide rush, and nailed Warner, but they didn't blitz the LBs enough today.
  10. If you don't blitz, the OL outnumbers the DL 5 to 4, so the majority of NFL teams blitz. The Bills did a nice job with LB and DB blitzes against the Seahawks and Jags. For some crazy reason, they decided to hang back this game. Maybe we'll learn what that reason is this week, but whatever it is, this game plan needs to go into the circular file.
  11. C'mon, the defensive stats coming into this game were pretty good, Fewell just drew up a lousy game plan for whatever reason. It sucks when it happens, but it does. Take a look at the AFC finalists from last season, the Chargers and Pats. Both just got their asses kicked by the Dolphins because they couldn't stop a college option play. It happens in the NFL.
  12. I'm not blaming JP for the loss today, the blame lies on the shoulders of Fewell and Jauron. But Losman is not the type of QB you want in there when the opposing team is expecting you to throw. This guy isn't capable of making more than two reads.
  13. No blitzes. Compare the defensive playcalling in this game vs. the playcalling in the Seattle game. The Seattle game plan was much better against a similar offensive scheme. Where was the "Creep" today?
  14. They were within 7 points early in the 3rd quarter. That's not a bad place to be in. The problem wasn't Losman or Schonert, it was an idiotic defensive gameplan and no adjustments.
  15. The defensive gameplan is more to blame. It really makes no sense at all why they wouldn't attack Warner, especially with Boldin out of the game. There's no way the front four is capable of pressuring Warner enough to make a difference, and Jauron and Fewell never adjusted.
  16. I don't know, if a ref sees a player get bent over his leg like that, you think he would rule that the players progress is stopped and blow the whistle. After watching the shots that Edwards and Warner took, and then this play, the refs are doing a lousy job of protecting the players on the field.
  17. Combination of the play calls and poor D line play on 3rd downs. The team looks completely clueless on 3rd downs.
  18. Buffalo hasn't run many plays, period. Warner has almost 20 more attempts than Losman and Edwards. The offense will be there. They just need some stops from the defense.
  19. I'd like to see more zone blitzing in the 2nd half. They have to get pressure up the middle against a pocket passer like Warner. I'd really like to see them double Fitzgerald and single the other receivers, but I doubt Jauron would risk giving up the big play.
  20. I would pay money to see a LB blitz. This is not working.
  21. All right! Now put pressure on Warner! He's a turnover machine!
