Yup it's Jamaican. There's a Bahaman beer that we drink when we're over there called Kalik. Not much to write home about, but then again it's not like I discuss beer with my folks.

It's a tie: Koch's Golden Anniversary & National Bohemian But much like SF Bills Fan, if you hand it to me, I'll probably drink it. I used to eat MREs. I can stomach just about anything.

What your favorite hamburger joint
HopsGuy replied to Fake-Fat Sunny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow, Red's & Trudy's... that brings back memories. Good stuff. I like Fuddrucker's, but I have to say that the burgers I make on the grill are as good as or better than any place I've had them. I thnk the best burger I ever had was when we were anchored in Honeymoon Harbor near Bimini and we made them on one of those propane boat grills. The key is to avoid flattening the burger with the spatula. DON'T DO THAT! That squeezes out all the taste. Get a loaf of Italian bread (the old style round ones) and cut that into slices. It doesn't have to be on a perfectly round roll. Lettuce, cheese, red-onions, tomatoes, ketchup, mustard, whatever. Practice makes perfect! -
I guess it's going to have to be Rich in Ohio. Sorry Rich, it's for the greater good. Johnny, you can pick up your package over at PPP. You'll like it. It marches in lock-step.

'Aints to San Antonio, Albuquerque or LA?

Ding! Good Bugs Bunny reference! -
What should the readers of TSW do to get Johnny Coli to continue his blog? The Sports Guy had his baby, and Aaron Karo only posts twice a month. I need some brain candy dammit!

'Aints to San Antonio, Albuquerque or LA?

Tom Benson has been reading Kim Jong Il's book on posturing. -
Some of my friends are Browns fans. I was in Cleveland for a wedding last year, so we went to the game (Eagles). They're pretty passionate about the Browns in Cleveland, and by passionate I mean absolutely crazy. I like to see them win, unless it affects the Bills. Our tailgates are better, though.

I remember that game! TC had 4 shots from inside the 5 to win the game at the end. The Bills were out of times out (correct grammar in case DC Tom ever returns), so Big Todd had to throw the ball 4 times. Didn't work. Just one in many nightmare games at Arrowhead.

Good Buff News interview w/Ralphie
HopsGuy replied to Greg de'Ville's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The key for the NFL to continue to build upon the successful model they have is to maintain a strong commissioner. Say what you will, but Tagliabue has continued the work that Rozelle started years ago. Pete (and now Paul) understood that the owners must be made to understand that while their teams fight on Sundays, they should not view each other as competitors. The league is competing for our disposable bucks and they're doing a pretty good job of it (Do people clamor for Philharmonic tickets where you live? Me neither). While revenue sharing is abhorrent to these new guys that built their fortunes in our capitalistic system, they must understand that widening the gap between the large and small market teams is detrimental to the future of the league. My opinion is that the revenues from the luxury boxes should not be counted towards the figure used to determine the salary cap. That way, Danny Snyder doesn't have to share that cash with Dan Rooney. He bought the team in DC, it costs more than if he had bought the team in Buffalo, he should reap those rewards while not hurting the rest of the league. But that's just my opinion. -
My favorites have all been mentioned, but all the early MTV ones brought back a bunch of memories. The day that Warner Cable brought the new box to the house, I was turning that dial while my dad watched: Me: "USA... Nickelodean....cool... WGN... hey, we get the Cubs!... TBS... Oh, we get the Braves, too.... CNN... whatever... hmmm what's this?" Rick Springfield's Jesse's Girl is on MTV Me: "Hey Dad... It's music... on TELEVISION!" Dad: "Wonderful." Why can't I find a woman like that?

One more time: Who is our enemy now?
HopsGuy replied to Tolstoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think it's envy. I'm more of the mind that familiarity breeds contempt. The NJ Bills backers are around all those Jets fans, so they hate the Jets most. The first couple of replies in this thread were from folks in Mass, so they are bombarded with Patriots stuff (rightly so), so they are going to get tired of that fast. Since I live in South FL (and I'm old enough to remember the last bit of the 70s), I enjoyed the two beat-downs of the Fish the most. When I lived in Philly in the early 90s, I reveled in the Eagles losses. That's just the way it is for the displaced fan. -
Custard Eater refused to give the finger
HopsGuy replied to stuckincincy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After Jack & Abby discuss it with DA Adam Schiff, Detectives Briscoe and Curtis will show up at the guys workplace (Arby's) and put the bracelets on him: Det. Briscoe: Hey tough guy, looks like someone is giving YOU the finger. Det Curtis: (Insert douchebag's name here), you're under arrest for digital thievery. You have the right to remain silent.... Dum da da da dum... -

Anybody catch the Holcomb interview on the radio?
HopsGuy replied to Tux of Borg's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember Jim Kelly twisting his ankle when he stepped in a rodent hole while playing golf. The Caddyshack jokes on morning radio went on for a least a week. -
Louie Louie...what filthy lyrics!
HopsGuy replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dave Barry once made a convincing argument that "Louie Louie" was the greatest rock 'n roll song of all time. Sure there's the controversy about what the lyrics are, but really what it comes down to it the fact that it's 3 chords and probably the easiest 3 chords. Because the song is so easy to play, lots of guys have gotten together in garages over the years, said "Louie Louie?", A-A-A-D-D-E-E-E-D-D, and fell in love with rock 'n roll. -
IIRC, Mathison resurfaced with the replacement Seahawks. He had one stellar game (if you can call it that) when he was pitch 'n catch with a picket-line-crossing Steve Largent.

Wasn't me. There was news of an asylum escapee that fits that description, though.

Actually, he's a financial planner in Boca Raton, FL. I used to work up the street.

Bill Gates Envisions Cars that Can't Crash
HopsGuy replied to /dev/null's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's always the nay-sayers that appear first. "Great spirits have always encountered opposition from mediocre minds. The mediocre mind is incapable of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to conventional prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly." - Albert Einstein, quoted in New York Times, March 13, 1940 US (German-born) physicist (1879 - 1955) -
The Olean Times Herald had this story about a Marine Lieutenant's experience in Iraq. Thought I'd pass it on.

Anyone see that story last night on 60 Minutes?
HopsGuy replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I saw it. What played out is exactly what was supposed to play out, except for the Supply Sergeant getting booted out of the Army. When soldiers happen upon $300 Million, they think of what they could do with that money. Then the officers show up and say, "Yup it sure would be nice, but that's not what we're here for. Now do the job you were trained to do." They'll look the other way when it comes to some small creature comforts, but looting Saddam's blood money ain't part of the deal. They should not have discharged (honorable? general? dishonorable? they didn't say) the Supply Sergeant. Just because he said, "Hey, what if we keep it? They're shootin' at us, fer cryin' out loud!" doesn't mean he did anything wrong. Lots of folks would ask that question. -
[OT] Pretzels flavored like...
HopsGuy replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to be confused with Snyder's of Berlin. Same name, different Pennsylvania pretzel maker. -
I'm not sure it's a good idea to have a guy named Rheem playing for the region that gave us Willis Haviland Carrier. Maybe I'm reading too much into this?
