I would mostly agree with that, except there's a chain here in CLT that makes some pretty good 'za: Brixx Other than that, family-run places tend to be much better.

The Orange showed some dominance today. Bearcats calmly climbed their way back into the game, but the 2nd half belonged to the 'Cuse. It's nice that Carmelo (the original 'Melo) donated all that cash to the University but I'd like to see him come back someday as a graduate. Pitt on Monday will be a tough one. IMHO, the outcome won't matter as much as the fact that they'll finally take on a good opponent on the road (Triche saved their butts at the Hall). Note: The 'Cuse is now 48-5 over the last two seasons. Whoa.

Well put, and I'm almost willing to agree since I was taught the same. However, I need one of you software engineering experts (and I had to be schooled on the difference between a programmer and a software engineer) to let me know if using a one-space method is saving disk space. This will sway me. I'm ambivalent to having become a Gemini. While being a great NASA program, it's definitely a much cooler response to "What's your sign?" than "Cancer". Good thing I was a grade schooler in the 70s when that was an actual pick-up line.

I learned to type in a "Keyboarding" class as a senior in high school. I was taught to put 2 spaces after the period at the end of a sentence. I was wrong and no one ever bothered to correct me. My world is upside-down. Yes, I had to go back and delete a few spaces in the previous paragraph.

Volunteer Firemen or Professional Firemen

It's Firefighters. Firemen were the guys that shoveled the coal to fuel the steam engines. -

You say you're "going back", so you've had some experience in the gym. You'll know what to do when you get there. I would echo what was said here: Go easy to start. I would even say to go easier than you think you should. The most important thing when making this lifestyle change is to transition in a way such that you will not injure yourself. If you get hurt, that's the ballgame. You can follow some of the very good advice here after a couple of weeks of easing yourself back into a routine. You'll suffer a bit at first like the Count says, but you'll be better for it. In a month report back. We still have a health & fitness board where you can post your progress. Good luck.

That happens whenever there's a merger/takeover between public companies, too. In fact, the settlement for these suits is almost always budgeted into the deal. You can usually get 5-8% after a likely deal is announced. A few months after the deal is completed, you'll get something in the mail that states that the class-action suit was settled and the lawyers got their money. Nothing for you, though. Thanks for playing. Regarding those leeches you mention, we had a client at my old firm who had a website along the lines of "WeSueBrokers.com". We were joking about it on the trade desk as the Chief Compliance Officer walked by and asked what the jokes was. We showed him and he asked the Director of Trading "Is he a good client?" DoT said, "Nah... he's actually quite a pain." 5 minutes later the account was closed. That was pretty funny.

Yeah, but what did Doug say, you hoser?

I couldn't find the video, but there was a scene on the Office a couple of years ago that addressed this subject: RYAN: What I really want, honestly Michael, is for you to know it. So you can communicate it to the people here, to your clients, to whomever. MICHAEL: (scoffs) Oh, okay. RYAN: What? MICHAEL: It’s whoever, not whomever. RYAN: No, it’s whomever. MICHAEL: No, whomever is never actually right. JIM: Well, sometimes it’s right. CREED: Michael’s right. It’s a made up word used to trick students. ANDY: No. Actually, whomever is the formal version of the word. OSCAR: Obviously it’s a real word. But, I don’t know when to use it correctly. MICHAEL: (to the camera) Not a native speaker. KEVIN: I know what’s right, but I’m not gonna say because you’re all jerks who didn’t come see my band last night. RYAN: Do you really know which one is correct? KEVIN: I don’t know. PAM: It’s ‘whom’ when it’s the object of the sentence and ‘who’ when it’s the subject. PHYLLIS: That sounds right. MICHAEL: Well, it sounds right. But is it? STANLEY: How did Ryan use it? As an object? RYAN: As an object. KELLY: Ryan used me as an object. PAM: How did he use it again? TOBY: It was, Ryan wanted Michael, the subject, to uh explain the computer system, the object… MICHAEL: Thank you! (points to Toby) TOBY:…to whomever, meaning us, the indirect object, which is the correct usage of the word. MICHAEL: No one, uh, asked you anything ever. So, whomever’s name is Toby, why don’t you take a letter opener and stick it into your skull?

I just read the entire lentil thread and now I'm quite sure I need to rip a bong-load. BTW, Adam Carolla had a rant today on his podcast almost exactly the same as yours about how the US has clean drinking water because that's what we do here. I guess I'm saying that your thoughts align with a junior college flunk-out that happens to be a funny guy. When can we expect your book "If Fifty Years, We'll All Be Internet Board Posters"?

If it's in the last 2 minutes of the hour, the cop will make you stand there for a 10 second run-off.

Crown & Ginger Ale, hold the Ginger Ale. But seriously folks... it depends on my mood. You really can't go wrong with Corp000085's choice. A good Irish coffee will be fine sometimes, but so will a great Bloody Mary (can I get some fresh prepared horseradish!?!). These two depend on the outside temperature and just how early my tee-time is. A Old Fashioned is a nice treat, too. I guess I'm pretty easy when it comes to my mixed-drinks. Good friends/times frame the context. Now excuse me while I go watch the Bills do whatever it is they do.

$150k bonus for Fitz. (81.8 QB rating, needed 80-90 for bonus per ESPN) Fitz was careless with the ball last week (5 total turnovers). Brohm might light up the Jests (earned nickname with the replacements they'll be running out there). I'm pretty sure the o/u for Bills wins was 4.5. I was totally ready to throw $10k on the over until my buddy talked me out of it. He was sure of a 2-14 season. I'm glad he was so level-headed.

My Rendell moment: Back in '93, I had just graduated college and was salting away the rest of my lease watching the Phillies and trying to get ready for Officers' Basic Course. I was in a WaWa and in comes hizzoner, the mayor of Philly at the time. A guy on his way out says "Hey Eddie. We could use more cops on the streets." Rendell gets in line behind me, grabs a paper and says towards me but to no one in particular, "Everybody wants more cops. Nobody wants to pay for them." So there you go. -

Well, there was just the one "scandal" where it looked like Aaron James was being inhumanely punished for complaining about a concussion. I don't claim to know the details of the story, but it appears to me that what James was subjected to (being put in a dark room) didn't meet the standard for what I would consider abuse (considering that some doctors say concussion patients should avoid bright light). Also, there was some damning footage that showed James dogging it through practice. The only reason it was a story is because Craig James works at ESPN. The elder James played on the most corrupt team in the history of college football that we know about. The 30 for 30 documentary on "Pony Exce$$" showed just how good some players had it in the 80s. Some say James engineered the exit of Leach from TT. Some say this is the height of hypocrisy. I say that Craig James still thinks the players should be in charge. Other than that, Leach has been shown to be a guy that can use what look to be less than blue chip players to beat some of the best teams in the country. He's also a quirky guy that is way into pirates. People love successful folks that are also a tad bit goofy. I feel bad for Friedgen because he did was the NCAA says you're supposed to do: (1) run a clean program, (2) graduate your players. He got his teams to bowl games most of the time, but never really challenged for the ACC title. We all know that winning is the only thing and the ends justify the means. I think we'd all be better off if the NCAA would just admit this.

I remember that one. I even remember the quote he got for zinc. "36 cents?... A POUND!?! I guess I can spring for a coupla tons." [Time Traveler in cage gives him two thumbs up] Good stuff.

'Cuse 66% from the floor. They dominated the over-matched Dragons on both ends. Drexel had no solution for the 3-2 zone and the Orange were cleaning the glass against one of the top 10 rebounding teams in the nation. Neutral site games aren't the same. Especially when you're playing Izzo's team at MSG. Half the school is from Long Island. What do you think the mood of that crowd will be? There's a reason the Orange are playing in the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium. It's like Georgetown saying a game at the Verizon Center is a neutral site game. Top-25 teams playing on the road tonight: Villanova @ Monmouth, Louisville @ Western Kentucky, Kansas @ Cal, San Diego St @ IUPUI, Missouri @ Illinois, Texas @ Michigan St. There's even a match-up of two of those teams "no one wants to play" with Xavier at Gonzaga. But I get your point.

I don't think he wants to go to Cattaraugus County. -
Hey, I'm a Drexel grad... so I'm completely biased. The Dragons are doing what they need to do to win so far this season. Bruiser Flint has basically followed the Nolan Richardson "40 minutes of hell" approach to his defense for years. Dragons are 10th in the country in rebounds mostly because they're so physical. They have to be. Blue chip 2s, 3s, & 4s don't look at West Philly as they type of place to take their considerable talents. Drexel can catch some big schools with this tactic early in the year (see 2007: Syracuse, Villanova, Temple, Penn, St Joe's, Creighton), but they don't surprise the other CAA teams because they know it's coming. Drexel was picked to finish in the middle of the pack in the CAA this year and I'm thinking they probably will. VCU & James Madison look good again. George Mason always runs a quality squad out there, as does Old Dominion. I root for Syracuse because I lived there for 2 years. But I'm always a bit embarrassed by the fact that JB doesn't challenge his kids with some tougher road games in December. I'm sure that he'd like to, but filling up all those seats in the Dome as many times as possible is an important consideration for a private school in CNY. I don't think the Dragons will surprise anyone tomorrow, but they should keep it close. If the Orange blow them out of the building... well, I'm not sure what that will tell us. Maybe Louisville is overrated? Good thing they decide the champ on the court.
-
Yeah, an it's not like it's in JB's interest to say that the teams SU are beating are good (assuming the Orange beat Drexel). Yes. The Orange don't play on an opponent's floor until 1/8 @ Seton Hall.

Here's a good piece on Ralph Friedgen.
