  1. IMHO, Taser droppped because the sellers were more agressive than the buyers. People sell for many reasons. The talking heads mentioned valuation. They mentioned lawsuits. They mentioned the SEC inquiry. They were looking for reasons for the precipitous drop. You're the first prognositicator I've heard (read) that is 100% sure, though.
  2. That is absolutely fascinating! Pray tell, is there somewhere I could find currency exchange rates? I'm going to hell.
  3. What's an album? Pearl Jam, 10
  4. File this one under "living up (down?) to one's name".
  5. I friggin HATE Winn Dixie. Albertson's ain't much better. The WD I used to shop at was pretty clean, but they never had enough checkout lines open. Albertson's is just friggin disgusting. I feel like I'm in a 3rd world country (of course I'm in South Florida, so I guess that's about right). Publix is light-years ahead of those guys as far as shopping experience goes. Wegman's would blow them all away if they had the same friendly experience as WNY, but I don't think that can be replicated in South FL. Whole Foods is so pretentious. They just opened a Village Marketplace near the office and it's so much better than WF. They're overpriced, too. But not so much, and the choices are much better. I'm getting hungry thinking about all this.
  6. I work about 20 minutes north of the stadium. In the summer, the darkest storm clouds you've ever seen roll in here between 3 and 4 o'clock in the afternoon. This tends to keep folks away, even though it only rains for about 20 minutes. A roof would mitigate some of that for baseball. Then again, Wayne is kicking the Marlins out in a few years anyway. They're looking to build a new retractable roof stadium, but finding the $$$ and location is the subject of quite a few debates. I favor a bond issue and a Ft. Lauderdale location, but nobody is listening to me.
  7. At my firm, your Global Crossing shares will need to be journaled to a "worthless securities" account. This is your "sell transaction" that locks in the loss. I am assuming you didn't use mark-to-market for your gains/losses last year right? Anyway, our company line is "consult your tax professional".
  8. Maybe you're thinking of Reich beating the Dolphins during the regular season? It was a rainy day (I believe it was Dec 23rd 1990). Larry Norton of 97 Rock redid Free's "All Right Now" into "All Reich Now". Ah, memories.
  9. I was at the season finale vs. Detroit. I seem to recall that Reich started and played the whole game. Eddie "Eat, Drink and Be" Murray kicked a FG in overtime to win. Barry Sanders went over 100 yards. Since I was a newly minted legal drinker, the only thing I can be 100% sure of is the Bills set the season attendence record that day.
  10. I work with Mientkiewicz's brother-in-law. That FSU comment is hilarious and we're giving it to him pretty good (lots of Gators in my office). Anyway, the guy's not a jerk. This is the same as when Ron Harper grabbed the ball after MJ sank the Jazz in '98.
  11. Biscuit as #55, I remember. Lofton as #86? That doesn't seem right, but then again he was picked up that year about mid-season. Butler probably should have been long gone since he was injured in '86, went on the IR and his roster spot was filled by (drum roll, please)... Stever Tasker! Can someone with Relentless within arms-reach please confirm the 86-thing? Lori?
  12. duey, Make sure you read this piece from the front page of TBD. Moulds says a bunch more things similar to your signature. He's easily my favorite post-Levy Bill. And to think some thought he might be a bit of a "head case" out of college after ordering those pizzas...
  13. He's got it spelled wrong. It's Her-O'Caine. It's an Irish chick that B10w$.
  14. I thought you were a Devil Rays fan? When did you live in NYC?
  15. There's a fat guy in our building that pulls the double whammy of parking at an angle in a handicap spot. It's actually a trifecta because he has several really nice cars that he drives (Mercedes, Porche). One day last week when he had the top down on his convertible Benz, the skies darkened. The guys here were doing a rain dance hoping that his leather seats would get wrecked. Just in time, he waddled out to the car, and moved it... TO THE FIRE LANE!!! I have to remember to bring my camera to work to document this. I could start a web site.
  16. "Donovan, what brings you down here?" That's my name, so my friends are always saying that when I get to the bar.
  17. The lesson, as always, is DON'T GAMBLE!
  18. Maybe they could have gotten Fleetwood Mac together for a rousing rendition of "Tusk" with the USC Marching Band? That would have been cool. Anyway, I'm with you. Keep it simple. One online columnist suggested that they just get a Frisbee catching dog. That's always a winner.
  19. Gotcha. Makes sense. Off to Porter's Place with some Stiller's fans. Go Bills!
  20. SDS, for future reference, what was the cause? I got my folks TiVo for Christmas and I hooked it up (they have DirecTV). It's running pretty well, but anytime they want to do something I have to talk them through it (I live 4 hours away). I wasn't able to set it up to have the ability to watch one show while recording another because their TV is like 10 years old and it doesn't have the ability to change the input. I could rig up some splitters and A/B switches, but that would just confuse the situation. I can just see them now getting the same message. Did you get it up so that the PIP works?
  21. Excellent set up. I'll have to try to get a picture of my buddy's place. He's gone completely over the edge in his "playroom": 70" Plasma flat-creen 2 30" TVs above the plasma 5.1 stereo surround Gold Tee 2005 video game Bubble hockey game with Sabres vs. Oilers custom painted figures Professional blackjack table where I lost $100 during the first Bills-Pats game $1500 Pop-corn maker Putting-green in back yard next to pool (it's FL, everyone has a pool, except me) Yes it's ridiculous, but his wife lets him do it. They have a 3 year old and brand new baby (2 weeks), so the rest of the house is a giant playroom anyway. My other friend built a $5k Tiki Bar onto the back of the house. I'll have to post some pics of that one too. To use a kids phrase, it's "off the hook".
  22. I'm taking the Sooners and the points. After watching that pathetic display by the Cal Bears last night, I'm convinced that the Pac-10 teams' defenses atrophy while playing each other.
  23. Sheridan sux. He had Minnesota -1.5 to start the week. I use his Tuesday lines for the pool I run. There's a terrific article about NFL Vegas lines in this month's Traders Monthly magazine. If you're pro trader, it's free: Link to site
  24. "Remember, Red. Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies. I will be hoping that this letter finds you, and finds you well. Your friend. Andy."
