The offensive play calling was horrendous. I don't know what they were thinking. Too many designed runs from Tyrod against the best run defense in the league. Also way too many runs from the shotgun. Not enough downfield passing attempts when our receivers were beating their secondary on a regular basis. That was painful to watch.

I am sorry but this makes absolutely no sense. This argument is flawed and conceptually bankrupt. The quote clearly shows that he was referring to the baseball players that come from the Dominican Republic and then stated that the Dominican Republic is not known for academic abilities. Inanimate objects cannot have academic abilities, so the only logical inference is that he is referring to the Dominican people. Whatever is referenced after as to the reason why he believes this is the case, is irrelevant. It's a racist quote. The next step of the counter argument is how can referring to a culture/country be specifically construed as referencing race? It's discrimination not racism some would argue. This is another conceptually bankrupt argument as racism in terms of discrimination needs to be viewed in the social context as racial identities can vary greatly from one culture to another, and there is no biological genes or cluster of genes common to all whites or all blacks.

Political correctness is irrelevant in a discussion about blatant racist statements singling out a particular group of people in such a disrespectful way. Political correctness is used as a pejorative to describe language, actions, or policies intended not to offend or disadvantage any particular group of people in society. Since you didn't read the article I'll quote what Cowherd said. "'Baseballs too complex.' Really? A third of the sport is from the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic is not been known, in my lifetime, as having, you know, world-class academic abilities." There's no room for debate that this comment wasn't meant as discriminatory. He singles out Dominicans as not being smart individuals insinuating that baseball can't be complex if Dominicans can play it. This is not a matter of someone misconstruing a blanket statement to uphold extreme interpretations of proper political correctness. End of discussion.

I think it really comes down to where we are in the draft and if a guy like Cook or Lynch is available to us. If not then most likely the Bills won't go QB. Whaley is all about getting the best player available rather than going position specific. With how well Tyrod is playing, how young he is, and how little he is costing us the next two years there is no reason to jump for a QB in the first if it's not some guy who is supposed to be elite.

The problem with the argument "Rex ruined our defense" is that there is absolutely no way to measure whether or not poor execution rather than gameplan is at fault. This defensive line is supposed to be elite to the point where they can get to the QB without all blitzing. They did it last year, quite often, despite what people think. Now when Rex decides to experiment and drop these guys into coverage a few times, then he is automatically at fault for supposedly messing up the entire rest of the defensive gameplan without any scrutinization of the players whatsoever. I'm not exactly sold that there wouldn't have been regression if Schwartz was still here.

Rex is a good coach. It's his first year and he had to bring in his own QB to get this team anywhere near to competitive. What would have been the alternative? Jim Schwartz that couldn't win as a head coach despite having a good franchise QB? I don't understand how people can turn on a new coach to this franchise that hasn't even coached half a season with the team.

For what reason is this thread permitted here? This is the Bills forum not around the NFL forum. Look the Patriots have beat us soundly the last 15 years and will continue to do so if Tom Brady is their quarterback. It frustrates me however its necessary to note that its neither productive nor interesting to comment/vent on how great another team is on a Bills discussion forum. Bills fans need to worry about this team winning the other 14 games a year. I'm not denying the Patriots are the best team in the league. As far as the NFL goes they're the champions. I just don't think this is the proper venue nor meaningful to discuss this here.

The coach and players need time to bond together. You cannot replace a head coach every year or two. At the very least he deserves 3 years. This team is riddled with injuries and he came in here without a viable starting QB. I have a feeling this team will be very good very soon. Remember Tyrod would have never have been here if it wasn't for Ryan -- and yes it's not certain if Tyrod will work out -- but out of all of the options available he seems to have been the best QB we could have had. Rex will have a top defense again very soon. Just be a little patient. The coach hasn't even been with this team a half of a season yet and everyone is panicking and calling for his resignation. If they fired Rex we would be set back 5 years at the very least. He has a plan and direction but it's going to take some time for it all to come together.

Not going to happen unfortunately. This would be the trade to make if it was possible. I don't think it would be and think the Lions will sign him long term. But yeah if it's possible you trade the farm for a guy like him. He's an excellent QB. Ryan would prefer Taylor over him though. He sticks to his QBs.

LOL why would he come back here when Ryan wouldn't want him and didn't want him in the first place? He refused Miami just a couple weeks ago, so it's clear he wants nothing to do with a defensive coordinator position. He'll wait and see if he can grab a head coaching position at the end of the football season when the firings start happening. Now if they were going to even try and offer Schwartz an assistant headcoaching position, he still wouldn't take it and would wait. The last thing this guy wants to do is jeopardize his entire career by walking into a disastrous situation where the offense, defense, and special teams are playing terribly after already failing in Detroit.

Nick O'Leary is going to be a star in this league. They should make him active and release mulligan. The lack of preseason stardom doesn't matter. Nothing until the guy has a chance during the season. He has the most upside and can be real effective on the field. Why he isn't starting is beyond me.

I find it outrageous everyone gets so drastic and out of control on whatever little thing Rex Ryan says. He simply just wants to win the division and the Patriots have dominated the division for over a decade. As great a defensive mind he is, he still has trouble shutting down the Patriots and obviously he wants to prove otherwise and has some frustration after being in this division 7 years and not being as successful as he would like to against him. He will do it and simply talks innocent rival jabs and taunts here and there.

It's a shame. There's no other way to say it. We looked terrible on both sides of the ball. Our QB play despite good numbers wasn't very good either to have confidence in, but even if any elite QB (with the exception of Brady) played for us we would have lost that game surely. As for coaching, Rex Ryan summed it up best. He was outcoached. Instead of being smart and just using your strength to its advantage and seeing if your corners could keep up with the ball getting out quickly and blitzing, Rex Ryan disguised everything in coverage and it backfired. I need a break. I put way too much emotional investment in this team and am not seriously ready to deal with such disappointment. I'm not saying they most likely won't come back and be contenders, but I know I was a bit too obsessed this offseason unlike any offseason before and really thought we were going to make a statement in our division by beating the Patriots. I need to relax, take a step back and take it for what it's worth... Entertainment. That's all it is. Whether it's winning or losing its just a game and nobody can say we weren't entertained with the signings the Pegulas afforded Bills fans. As for me, this is going to be my last post, at least for awhile. Anyways go bills and stay strong guys and hope for the best.

I fully agree with you. People are reacting as if losing a running back is like losing a quarterback. It's not ideal by any stretch of the imagination but it's also not the most cerebral position where a rookie can't adequately replace an experienced running back. It all comes down to opening up holes on the offensive line and the running back protecting the ball. As you have seen with New England for years, they never invested in an elite running back and still managed to do well because of good quarterback play. As long as Tyrod plays like he did last week then it doesn't matter if McCoy is out for a week or two. They should let him heal and come back 100% to really allow him to reach his full potential.

All of you that are criticizing his style, unfortunately don't have any fashion sense. That's alright, Buffalonians aren't known for that. Most of you probably wear your regular fit wranglers and a t shirt, and that's fine. But don't try to act as if you understand high modern fashion. His jacket with the leather sleek lapels are a trend in Milano right now. The shirt although quite eccentric in pattern is a bold modern African American city current fashion take on a euro/hipster pairing. He's creative, looks great, and above all has the cool personality to wear an outfit like that.

The other thing about the Pats is that they are such arrogant jerks that taunt the other team every time they make a play. It's sickening. Ew.

He's a great dt but he's too expensive and he isn't needed. He would be a luxury but the Bills defense would still be dominating without him.

I watched the video 2 times the last couple days and it is so moving and emotional to watch yet exciting as I think the Bills actually found their QB of the future. It's painful to see how underrated this guy always has been and still is. I am really hoping he is our starting QB.

EJ is a good QB and a lovely guy. I hope he stays with the team and improves. That being said I have no problem with whomever Coach Ryan starts and will have full faith in that decision. All 3 of the QBs are good QBs with great characters. It's impossible to root against any of them.
