  1. I'll do my best here. I'm 32, single, live alone in a condo building with ~250 units, and I haven't stopped commuting to work yet. Closest family is 6.5 hours away, so most interactions are by phone. My building is pretty affordable for the area, so it has attracted a population of opposite ends of the spectrum (young people getting into their first home, and older people who are on fixed income and don't want to be responsible for a yard or other maintenance). Out of respect for the older residents in my building, I put on a mask before leaving my condo and I keep it on until I get in my car. I also use the stairs exclusively to avoid touching elevator buttons. The only other place I wear a mask is the grocery store, though I suppose that would apply to any store. Upbringing was fairly conservative. Both parents are military, dad was also a police officer. Very comfortable around firearms as long as the people with them are well trained. Church every Sunday, pasta feast after.
  2. Honestly, the first president I remember is Clinton, who I would characterize as playing a saxophone naked on a bear skin rug. I was just getting out ahead of the excuse I expect to see from resistance types to dismiss it.
  3. In reading the comments, the data was taken during the playoffs, which explains the lack of steelers and cowboys So the carolina tweets were probably panthers fans wishing they had McBeane lol
  4. You really don't have any perception of reality. Fauci, while away from Trump, called out the media for manufacturing a rift that does not exist.
  5. You mean something like a 3 stage reopening guideline with clear goals for each phase? https://www.whitehouse.gov/openingamerica/
  6. Thank you in advance for taking the time, 'cause I ain't got it
  7. The whole intro is dedicated to the idea that Trump doesn't take criticism or suggestions well. Dr. Fauci has publicly stated that Trump has listened to all of their suggestions and not interfered with their conclusions. Perhaps the 'advice' would come across better if he opted to skip the personal attacks and just gave the suggestions.
  8. The CHS who fingered Svetlana? Did Biden provide this phrasing?
  9. Right. This big 'lie' that happened literally boils down to the DHS policy says enhanced screening, but for some reason Trump used the word testing when speaking instead. As I mentioned earlier, perhaps it was ignorance on Trump’s part and he assumed the screening involved tests. Perhaps he felt screening and testing were interchangeable in this context (to the average Joe, is enhanced screening distinctly different from heavy testing?). Perhaps there were some basic tests administered as part of the screening, and the press poorly assumed a specific type of test and didn't bother asking for clarification on the testing that would be done. I don't know. And just to reiterate for those in the back (not snafu), Trump definitely lies about a myriad of things. Stop calling everything he says a lie just because you misunderstood or ascribed intent and you'll get significantly less pushback.
  10. No, the acting secretary of DHS ordered that. Trump simply communicated the policy. So your first sentence isn't accurate. Also no. Everyone on the plane except crew were subject to the DHS policy.
  11. No, it is supplemental to the orders on China and Iran and it applies to the Schengen Area of Europe.
  12. No, as I understand it that impacts who is allowed to board in the first place. DHS handles the protocol for landing. Here is their supplemental notice. https://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/publications/2020-05606.pdf DHS protocol was to screen every non-crew passenger on the plane.
  13. Someone has to be logical in this cesspool I browse here quite a bit, but try to pick my spots for when I chime in.
  14. Here's what I did find, source material. DHS acting secretary Chad Wolf released a statement on the travel restrictions on March 11. https://www.dhs.gov/news/2020/03/11/homeland-security-acting-secretary-chad-f-wolf-s-statement-presidential-proclamation And then the white house issued their official proclamation. https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/proclamation-suspension-entry-immigrants-nonimmigrants-certain-additional-persons-pose-risk-transmitting-2019-novel-coronavirus/ Based on those two official releases, it would seem that the quote you want to say is a lie was information provided to Trump by DHS on how they planned to implement his proclamation. He seemingly either dumbed 'enhanced screening' down to 'testing' or he didn't understand the scope of the screening being implemented. I think, at worst, the statement you're clinging to was made out of ignorance, but it's very likely he just used his own terminology instead of the official language out of brevity.
  15. You do understand that there is an incubation period and that the vast majority of infected people are asymptomatic, right? I can do a quick scan, but I'm not sure how fruitful it will be based on it's specificity. I'm still interested to hear if Trump has done any single thing right since taking office, though it's probably better discussed elsewhere.
  16. He said they would be tested. What specific testing would take place? Unclear. What is clear based on the CNN link in the truth section you quoted is that they were funneled to specific airports and subject to enhanced screening. One of the measures of the screening was probably testing their temperature. I would also wager that, if travelers showed obvious symptoms they were quarantined.
  17. I edited and expanded my response. It would seem that, rather than asking a follow up question of what kind of testing are we talking about, they'd rather assume and then fact check it later as false.
  18. I don't have information about who was tested. I can tell you that I take issue with the wording again. The quote given was in relation to the travel restrictions from Europe specifically, but the truth section says that all Americans returning to the country were not tested. If they weren't returning from Europe (or presumably China) then they wouldn't have been subject to the testing based on the actual context. Edit: I read the CNN link. Their claim is that they weren't tested, they were just funneled to specific airports and subject to enhanced screening. I would imagine that to some people's interpretation, that screening involved several tests. But they weren't the specific tests CNN expected, so it's false.
  19. Has he done any single thing right since taking office? The constant negative spin on every action he takes is why you get the responses you do. Trump absolutely lies. The items that you tend to bring to the table typically are terrible examples of his lies because they are fact checking liberal interpretations of his statements rather than his actual statement and intent. Or they're partial statements rather than full quotes. Or they aren't lies at all, but you're applying your hindsight to statements made in real time. I think the first point is the crux of the issue though. You have one side of politics that quite frankly doesn't understand the other side, but they want to ascribe motive on their own. Here's a couple links on it, if you're so inclined. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/jul/21/democrats-republicans-political-beliefs-national-survey-poll https://theindependentwhig.com/haidt-passages/haidt/conservatives-understand-liberals-better-than-liberals-understand-conservatives/
  20. BREAKING: Trump pushes thousands from the medical industry into unemployment.
  21. Did he let the WHO know that it was contagious? They still thought it couldn't pass from human to human at that point...
  22. Because at that point in time there was no reason to suspect misinformation and no data from other countries to check it against? Because making positive public statements about another country that has a strained relationship with the US is the definition of anti-inflammatory?
  23. In reading your link, it seems like my gut reaction of it being his personal mistrust of the house was correct. The official response was that the testimony before the house would be counter productive towards his response efforts. Trump's off the cuff response was that the house request was 'a set-up' and that the committee was stacked with 'Trump haters'. So he's letting Fauci testify in the Senate instead. I suppose it works out since the House isn't in session? Idk, sometimes you've just gotta step back and laugh at the comedic gold of reality. See above. Per the cnbc link I read his motives to a T in my response to sectionc3 around an hour ago.
  24. He is certainly a troll ?‍♂️
