If the Bills want to move up, what’s the best way?
Ittakestime replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Schefter and Mort were just on ESPN. They said Eli had a great meeting with Gettleman and what came out of it was that they need to fix the run game and O line. Gettleman believes Eli can still play and he has even looked at QB prospects. In saying that, would you trade McCoy, Glenn and both 1sts for 2nd Overall? -
Titans Name Mike Vrabel New HC

Terrible hire. Barely any coaching experience. Thought they wanted to get a coach for Mariota. Just another inside job with ex Pats employees -
So I watched a little bit on the full games for Wyoming on youtube, and I must say, Allen has a ton of potential. His team was absolutely terrible around him and the play calling sucked. There were so many times where he was running for his life. He would throw dimes to WR and they would drop them. He needs a year of sitting behind an accurate vet. I would try to get McCown. I was impressed with him last year and he is an incredible teacher.

If you are going to spend big on a QB, this is the year. You can structure the contract so the cap hit isn't huge this year. Starting in 2019 we will have White, Dawkins, Jones, Milano on rookie deals for at least 2 years. The players we draft this year, 4 in top 56 picks, will be on rookie deals for 3 years. The 2019 rookies will be on rookie deals for 4 years. Starting in 2019, there will be a ton of cash so you take the majority of the cap hit in those 2 years and then a little less the following 2 years.

Where would Mahomes go in this years draft?

Based on his college resume? Probably 4th or 5th QB taken. Rosen, Darnold and Mayfield definitely over him. Allen is going to test off the charts so he would jump him too -
Culley should not be QB coach
Ittakestime replied to Ittakestime's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was an immediate uptick in David Garrard's game when Shula became his QB coach. Cam Newton has been a pretty productive QB too. I think it terms of available options, Shula would be a good QB coach. -
Another knock on Mason. He really needed to throw well in Mobile. I wonder if he will go 1st round.

Bills should bring in Mike Shula as QB coach. He has a real good track record in that position and I am not sure if he will get another OC this year. -
If this team doesn't draft Baker based on "character" I think that would be it for this regime for me. Off the field character isn't going to win you games.
-
The dots are connecting a lot like the Daboll dots were. I think fans will be severely disappointed. Baker is worth the assets to move up

We need much more speed on offense so I am interested in Daurice Fountain.

Bills are going to love his intangibles but he has bust written all over him. He just doesn't think quick enough for me. Lacks pocket awareness and his accuracy is not good in tight spaces. In the beginning of the year he looked good, but as the season went on and teams game planned for him, he just didn't cut it for my liking. Like someone stated earlier, his WRs were a huge help. Think of Mike Evans and Johnny Manziel. He play on the field doesn't pass the eye test to me.

I am hoping its because they are going through the rest of the staff and trying to improve.

Mularkey now out in Tennessee as HC
Ittakestime replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
His accuracy is right around 61% to 62% which is average. Mariota isn't much better than Tyrod. Both athletic QBs that lack passing necessities. -

Mariota is athletic, but he isn't a top end passer and doesn't see the whole field. He just doesn't do a good job anticipating what is going to happen. A good safety will eat Mariota up. -

Mularkey is whatever, but if they think that Mariota isn't some star QB because of him, then the Titans organization is delusional. Mariota is a average QB and will always be an average QB. He will never be a top 10 passer in this league. -
I'm struggling with a lot of people on here. Daboll was thought of as the McDaniels replacement if he didn't go with McDaniels to his new team. This means that he was good enough for Belichick and good enough for Saban, but not good enough for some message board arm chair coaches.
-
It would not surprise me if last year this was an option but Belichick would have blocked it. Also, can people stop acting like his NFL experience from 5 years ago is how things are going to go now. Sorry but a guy that has an economics degree from U of R, is no dummy. He has spent his time since being an OC last with the most successful NFL franchise and the most successful college team. Do people really think he hasn't learned anything in that time?

Baker Mayfield would look great in a Daboll offense.

If you want to see how his offense runs, you need to watch the 2nd half of the national championship. The whole season he was holding back because Hurts was horrible. Here is a quote from an article: Daboll spent the year trying to maximize the personnel at his disposal. He developed a six-man receiver rotation that included three freshmen -- Jeudy, DeVonta Smith and Henry Ruggs III. He worked in the tight ends as much he could. He created an egalitarian arrangement among the running backs. But everything led back to Hurts, the quarterback who never really matured into a great passer. That became evident in the national championship game, when he was benched after completing only three of eight pass attempts for 21 yards during the first half. Explaining the move, Saban said, "We needed a spark." In stepped Tua Tagovailoa, the freshman from Hawaii. Just like that, the complexion of the offense and the game changed. It was as if the restrictor plates from Daboll's scheme had been removed. There were play-action bombs, shallow crosses and passes directed to all areas of the field. Tagovailoa connected with nine different players and helped Alabama gain 277 yards following halftime after it accumulated 94 before then. http://www.al.com/alabamafootball/index.ssf/2018/01/how_alabama_oc_brian_dabolls_v.html

It has been so long ago. Everyone matures and improves as they older. He was way over his head in those OC jobs. -

Watch this video and tell me this doesn't scream McDermott: High intensity, attention to detail, focus, high energy, about the players, cares about success of players, personal relationships -

Honestly there are a lot of items McDermott would love with Daboll. I think he would love that he is from western NY and has that college experience. -

I am more interested in if someone was picked up in Scottsdale. Harold Goodwin has been looking for O line jobs. Pretty sure he was up for job when McDermott got it.
