  1. Way more athletic than Shelton. Guy he's compared to most frequently is Ngata.
  2. If they take Mason Rudolph over Denzel Ward, Calvin Ridley or Vita Vea, I quit. 34 year old Alex Smith in a contract year is not worth a 2nd round pick, bottom line.
  3. If that's true, why do we want to give up multiple 1st round picks for him?
  4. I would be very surprised to see him let go. I just don't think it's a move a 1st time head coach coming off the playoffs in year 1 makes.
  5. The Colts at 3 and Browns at 4 both seem ripe for a trade up. If the Giants aren't sold on one of the QBs, I'd have to believe they are open for a trade as well. The big question would likely be if the Bills have enough other ammunition to overcome only dropping to 5 or 6 from the Broncos or Jets. Realistically we can give up #21 / #22 / 2019 1st and one of our 2018 2nds and only be "out" the 2019 1st. Is that better than #5 or #6, plus a 2019 1st from a potentially worse team plus another later pick? God I wish we had traded with Houston instead of Kansas City....
  6. I would give #21, #22, 2019 1st for Rosen or Darnold without blinking.
  7. I don't have a problem with that. I have a problem giving up a day 2 draft pick for that stopgap, when I'm not sure the rest of the team is good enough to return to the playoffs anyway. Exactly. I understand the Browns being desperate enough and having enough picks to give up something of value for him. I understand a team like Arizona thinking a healthy David Johnson and Smith at qb vs Gabbert or Staton could put them in position for a run. I don't understand why we would give up a valuable pick for him when the rest of the roster isn't near good enough to win anything meaningful. Sam Bradford or even Josh McCown can buy time for a rookie and won't cost a draft pick.
  8. If we have to give up nothing (or we just trade Tyrod straight up for him) then I'm fine with Smith as our week 1 starter. If we are talking about a day 2 pick, no way am I making that deal. I think the Browns with Dorsey will be more aggressive for him anyway, but we need to use all our draft capital to get younger and deeper and potentially a QB we can actually groom.
  9. A LOT of misses in that 2015 draft that went right after our pick. The more frustrating thing was to move up and still miss out on an elite pass rusher (who went to college in Buffalo) or two true #1 WRs, one of which we could have gotten had we not traded up.
  10. Bingo. He has the 2nd best TE in the league and perhaps the best deep threat in the league. What do we have? Bucky Brooks always talks about QBs as trucks or trailers. Either your QB is a truck (Brady, Rodgers, etc) and can pull everything behind him, or he's a trailer and he needs to be pulled by a truck. There are no trucks available to us, either Tyrod, Smith, Peterman, Bradford or a rookie, it's all the same. We need a better truck if we want to pull one of these trailers.
  11. I agree with you completely. I firmly believe our offensive coaching and offensive skill talent is not at a level that will let any young QB succeed here. Look at Goff, everyone was ready to write him off as a bust last year, the Rams brought in a dynamic offensive coach, a new LT and Center and 3 WRs and suddenly he's on the right track. On the flip side, Dak was hailed as the second coming, but Zeke gets suspended, Dez is a shell of his former self and suddenly the vibe is "what's wrong with Dak, did we crown him too soon"?
  12. I don't feel like he could be the guy. But given we have two 1st and two 2nds, I'm fine taking a flier on a guy in round 2 vs using a top 22 pick on him.
  13. Next year's road schedule could be brutal @ Texans with a healthy Watson @ Colts with a potentially healthy Luck @ Packers @ Vikings @ Ravens
  14. From the franchise that traded Wentz to take Kessler and Watson to take Kizer, they may not.
  15. Watch more NFL. It's EXTREMELY hard to just run the ball in on goal to go from the one. The vast majority of successful runs from that distance come off misdirection, a play that hits the outside when everyone is selling out on the inside. The play to Benjamin is a standard NFL call. Benjamin just got caught with his hand in the cookie jar on the OPI.
  16. Pretty sure there are several thousand fans in Cleveland who would do just about anything for a "failure" like this year.
  17. The lack of skill position talent is a bigger concern than the QB position IMO. I'm not sure why people think Alex Smith is going to do anything with what we have, we have no one near the talent of Tyreek Hill or Travis Kelce. Smith opened the year great because defenses underestimated Kareem Hunt and his ability opened everything up, once D's adjusted and overplayed Hunt, everything tightened up on Smith and he crashed back to earth. The same thing would happen here with Shady and our lack of outside talent.
  18. If someone offers him multiple years at big money he should jump all over it, but last year Jeffery was more proven as a player with a similar injury risk and had to settle on a 1 year deal. It'll sound crazy, but Green Bay could be a very interesting destination for him. Jordy has clearly lost several steps and has openly talked about retirement. Cobb's play has been down for a few years. Both are in the last years of their contracts. Rumblings are with Thompson out the team would like to be MUCH more aggressive in FA. It could be an interesting opportunity for Sammy to sign for a year for a chance to reach his full potential. Realistically, looking around the league, it's tough to find teams who couldn't use another strong WR.
  19. Browns are going to take Allen #1. Shimmer Shammer will see him as Wentz 2.0 Most I would give up is #21 / #22 / 2019 2nd for Rosen or Darnold at #3. I imagine the Broncos or Jets will be offering much higher 1sts and more to move into the spot.
  20. I agree with Florio, I think we are not going to look back very fondly on letting Mahomes and Watson go. Also stings Cleveland did way better than us in trading away Watson than we did trading Mahomes. I'd take White over Peppers any day, but pick #4 vs pick #22, wow. That being said, we have firmly hit misinformation season. Every year the QB crop is viewed as a disappointment from January till April, then teams fall all over themselves trying to get the guys they badmouthed for 4 months.
  21. One of Rosen / Darnold / Jackson / Allen if they are there. Pass on Mayfield completely. Rudolph is too rich at that level, if we don't get one of the top 4 QBs I'd be fine burning one of our 2nds on a guy like Lock / Falk / Rudolph, that assumes still walk away with 3-4 very good prospects out of the draft between our first 5 picks. Otherwise early projections look like there's potential for two very good non-QBs to be on the board at those picks, so BPA twice.
  22. If this is remotely true, aren't the Packers the perfect play for Belichick (and for the Packers)? Get Rodgers for the next ~7 years and then retire in your early 70s.

  24. I know they probably wouldn't after the flack for Dennis Miller and Kornheiser, but I think Caliendo could work great if you got the right play by play and color guy with him, although 3 man booths are tough to pull off. I absolutely think there's a ton of room to improve how broadcasts are done and there shouldn't be as much fear of "entertainment" as currently exists. CBS finally got Simms out of there, but so many color guys don't give a ton of insight, either I want a Collinsworth breaking it down at a level above the average fan or I want to be entertained.
