Tom Brady was the best all time and went in the 6th round, why take a QB before then? Qualifying guys based upon clear exceptions is a fools errand. People are entitled to their opinions, I see enough things that add up to a red flag. There were people on this board who wanted Manziel and there were plenty who wanted nothing to do with Watson.

I’m apparently one of the few but I’m anti Baker. Short, has struggled on tight window throws, has turned the ball over when facing quality opponents. The arrest, the flag plant, the crotch grab. I’m not saying missing bowl media obligations and senior bowl weigh in wasn’t for legitimate reasons, but there’s a non-zero chance there’s something else going on. Add it all up and it’s a package that flames out spectacularly more often than not.

If the Bills get a veteran QB...........
Chuck Wagon replied to njbuff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
#21 / #22 / 2019 1st / Philly's 3rd round pick for #3 That's what I would give up if Darnold or Rosen is still on the board. It's more than fair with the trade value chart. It allows us to get a QB we can build around while keeping both of our 2nds to hopefully add starters and it doesn't mortgage our entire future. -
Bills need to trade up into the top 5
Chuck Wagon replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't say the Browns have had too much trouble getting FAs to sign, they haven't targeted a lot of them but they signed Zeitler (the top guard available) and Britt last year. I think we are kidding ourselves if we think a guy like Taylor has real value in a move up, traditionally getting a day 2 pick for a good quality player has been a great haul. -
Mason Rudolph has tiny hands
Chuck Wagon replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jeez. I've always thought of myself being on the smaller end of the hand spectrum, but I just measured it at 9 1/4. Rudolph is smaller than that. -
I guess I'm just debbie downer, but if Bortles completes some easy dump downs they run away from us by 20+. Our safeties had a great year, but they need to duplicate their career years. White looks like a find and Gaines played well but their corners are the best in the league. Their linebackers and especially their pass rush are on a different level than ours. I think the Jags are an extreme example of how you can win without strong QB play in this league, but the Vikings and Eagles show it as well, both are very strong defenses and offenses with playmakers that make life easier on the QB. We were very lucky Shady stayed healthy all year, the Vikings (Cook) / Eagles (Wentz) / Jags (Robinson) / Pats (Edelman) progressed the final 4 while missing key pieces of their offenses. As currently constructed if we lost Shady for a significant portion of the year we'd be lucky to average 13 points per game.

I agree with you, I think Ridley is too good to pass up at 22. If we added a Paul Richardson level FA and were able to draft Ridley with one of our two picks, our receiver group could take a leap forward. I agree with others who think Cousins goes to Denver. After whiffing on Lynch and Osweiler, I think Elway will lean on the FA route. I also think Arizona goes with a FA QB, with Larry Fitz and David Johnson they are going to want someone who can come in and take the keys right away.

The Jags and Falcons offenses (rightfully) take a ton of blame for the Super Bowl and AFC title game, but when are really good defenses going to stop giving Brady these prevent D's in late game situations? The Jags looked like they had the Pats O figured out, the Pats were going to several trick plays to try to gain chunks of yardage, then the defense just backed down and let Brady do his work with guys underneath. If Brady beats you on a 50 yard bomb it's one thing, but you can't sit back and let him get 3-5 yards a play and hope he screws up, because he will not. It was similar in the Super Bowl, Brady was getting hit over and over again, then the Falcons switched to prevent D and let him kill them with a thousand James White passes.

LOL I think college is way worse. Conference officials (except the Big Ten for some reason) go into "protect our playoff teams" mode in late October. If you think the Pats get calls, watch a SEC officiated Bama game. Conferences bend over backwards to put their one or two playoff hopeful teams in a favorable light, a committee arbitrarily decides the 4 best teams based upon completely unbalanced schedules and half the teams are immediately disqualified from winning the title due to conference affiliation.

I kind of feel there's two possible outcomes for Mayfield. 1) The Browns take someone like Barkley #1 then take Baker #4 and claim he was the #1 guy on their board. 2) It's Manziel 2.0 ESPN uses him for all their draft hype stuff, they interview him on the red carpet, then he's one of the last ones in the green room with his head buried crying until a team like the Redskins or Dolphins trades into the late 20s to take him.

Nice to see other people who aren't immediately writing off Jackson. I still like Darnold and Rosen more than him, but I'd put Jackson 3rd. I have irrational (maybe rational) hatred of Mayfield, I think he's a moron who is too small and makes too many bad choices both on and off the field. Blows my mind that people who didn't want Watson or Mahomes last year are now stumping for Mayfield. Allen / Lauletta / Woodside are admittedly blindspots I have, but my gut feels like Allen is riding Wentz's coat tails a bit.

2011 - Badly wanted Cam, remember when everyone in the national media laughed at Buddy Nix in February for wanting Cam, then we was the consensus #1 pick by April. 2012 - I really badly wanted Wilson. Was jumping for joy when they traded up and he was on the board, then they took TJ Graham, and I remembered "oh yeah, I'm a Bills fan". 2013 - I liked EJ the best but I didn't want to take him before round 3. 2014 - Certainly wanted nothing to do with Manziel. I thought Aaron Murray or Zach Mettenberger would be a steal late. Liked Carr the best of the "1st round" QBs. 2015 - Thought Jameis would be a superstar. Wasn't sold on Mariota transitioning, liked Hundley the best of the later round QBs. 2016- Loved Cardale where we got him. Thought Conner Cook would be ok. Was not a believer in Dak, I thought there was too much Tebow in his game. 2017- Liked Watson the best and Mahomes a close second, thought we should have taken either one with our pick. I'm still intrigued by Davis Webb. I think Peterman sucks.

Gilmore Darby Bradham Hogan Woods Dareus Watkins Our cap would have made it tough to keep everyone but there’s a lot of ex-Bills in these playoffs.

Would the Browns be a trade partner at #4?
Chuck Wagon replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think #3 and #4 could both be in play for a trade up. If Indy is still committed to Luck, or at least happy enough with Brissett as their backup option, I think they'd be more than willing to put #3 in play as they could use help all over the field. I'm fine trading both 1st, one of our 2nds and even a conditional 2019 pick if it gets us Darnold or Rosen, assuming those are the guys our braintrust target. -
Your favorite college team: Draft/Don’t draft
Chuck Wagon replied to YoloinOhio's topic in College Football
Would love to take Billy Price in the 1st. Plug and play at RG and could be a 10 year pro bowl caliber fixture at center. Is it cheating to say JT Barrett? Even as a 7th thats lighting a pick on fire. -
Where would Mahomes go in this years draft?
Chuck Wagon replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he played in college this past year and presumably performed well as a senior in his 4th year of the system, I absolutely think he could be pushing Rosen / Darnold for the first QB picked. He certainly measures up with them on physical tools and would be eligible to go under the senior bowl microscope.
