  1. Peterman Truthers are one of the things I'll never understand.
  2. No, but he’s already got nearly 2,000 more and I think AP is done.
  3. I wonder what kind of odds you could have gotten in 2012 that Frank Gore would finish his career with nearly 2,000 more yards than AP.
  4. I think Cowherd is a blowhard who throws out "in the know" stuff to try and get on the radar since his ratings tanked after leaving ESPN. Until Schefter or someone of his ilk is saying something it's BS. Just yesterday he tried to claim credit for the Clippers trading Blake Griffin because he "had heard through sources" that Lebron is going to LA.
  5. I think a lot of people are going to be surprised how much money Bradford gets.
  6. Trade up for Rosen or Darnold. As an aside, it's idiotic that FA is (months) before the draft. Teams try to build through the draft and use FA to patch holes, but they occur in inverse order.
  7. I think Arizona presents the best offensive talent to be able to succeed immediately on the field. They are up against it when it comes to cap room though. I think Cleveland presents the most desperation and most available money. Tough to say how the new regime operates, but Sashi would have loved to sign Cousins and hang the for sale sign on the #1 pick.
  8. Smith. But I’d only give a 4 for him. I also don’t view him as a 1 year “bridge”. I think there’s plenty of reason to believe he’s got 4 or so quality years left at least. I think if you get him you commit to building the team as a whole and kick the young QB decision down the road a few years.
  9. I mean if one QB was going to work out, I wish it was Losman, we could still be riding him to this day.
  10. I just don't agree. I think you overdraft QBs at the top of the draft, if you've got a DE rated a 98 and a QB a 95, you take the QB. I think the idea you overdraft QBs in the entirety of the draft is extremely shortsighted and there's a very limited track record of success.
  11. IMO major cities is not the way to go and Vince owning all the teams himself is really not the way to go. Play in the spring, target cities with major college football fanbases who don't have NFL teams, play in pre-built stadiums to minimize infrastructure cost. Put teams in Columbus, Birmingham, Austin, Oklahoma City, etc and give them exclusive rights to players from Ohio State / Bama-Auburn / UT - A&M / Oklahoma - OK St, etc (the MLS has a similar system with exclusive rights on hometown players). I think you can get some potential appeal on guys like JT Barrett playing in Columbus or Manziel playing in Texas. The real football quality problem is going to be atrocious line play, there simply aren't that many athletic humans that big and anyone who shows a hint of promise is likely going to NFL teams banging down the door making it a poor financial decision to play.
  12. I completely agree, but I think it's much more likely they put the #3 pick on the block, frankly I'd be shocked if they didn't. Unless teams really sour on these QBs the Browns / Giants / Colts either have to take a QB or trade their picks for a bounty of picks, to do otherwise is just bad business.
  13. Luck is a double edged sword. The Colts know more about him than any team. If they are willing to trade him that's a massive red flag and should severely lower his price. If they are comfortable with his recovery and long term outlook, they aren't trading him.
  14. Plus Lions GM Bob Quinn is a Pats lifer (worked for them from 2000 to 2015) so one would imagine he would already be on the same page as Patricia. Lions have Stafford plus some quality pieces on the D, they made the playoffs in 2016 like the Giants, and they had a stiff in the sidelines for the last few years, it's not going to be that hard to get that thing rolling hard in the right direction. IMO if you don't worry about "markets" that's the best job available this offseason.
  15. Simple rules for NFL success: 1) Don't take franchise players because they will be expensive and want to leave. 2) Don't win games against the other conference because they don't help with playoff tiebreakers.
  16. The real kicker is the AJ McCarron trade falling through. The Browns traded a 2 and 3 for McCarron. Imagine them sitting with pick 1 and 4, just having traded a chunk of their pick depth for McCarron and taking Kizer with a 2nd the previous year. But it also stands to reason some of these teams may not see much of a difference between the #2 or #3 QB on their board and the #6 QB on their board and are willing to use the top 10 pick on a blue chip position player and hoping for their #6 QB later in the draft. QBs are a tough thing to judge, for every Bortles or Gabbert that go surprisingly high, you've got Teddy Bridgewater, DeSean Watson, Geno Smith, etc that go way later than people projected, especially in January.
  17. I think there will be 3-4 QBs picked top 5. I'm not convinced anyone currently picking in the top 4 stays in those spots. Vontae Mack no matter what!
  18. I just did. I'm not ready to compare the two off the field as I think there were real substance abuse and entitlement issues with Johnny Football. It's easy to individually dismiss the items with Baker being minor, but when you start stacking things up, it's concerning, especially when you are talking about a significant draft investment (although I'm not convinced he doesn't see a JF type slide down the draft board).
  19. Thanks dude. I get it. I said it's a natural thought to think about replacements and view these guys just as X's and O's on our TVs. Just something that's starting to turn me off as I am now getting older than the majority of guys still playing. I didn't mean to attack anyone or incite anything.
  20. I didn't say it's WRONG. I said it's a tough reality that gets harder to stomach as one gets older.
  21. How do you know none of us know him personally? Some of us do personally know players. They are real people, it's not Madden. It's cold to post about potential replacements less than 10 minutes after a guy who has given us a decade of great service gets his career ended prematurely. As I said, it's a real discussion point, but it's not stupid to say it's something that can turn one off on football.
  22. Groy is a natural replacement on the roster, but I'm in the bag for Price. Groy is going to be 28 when the season starts, so not exactly a long term solution, Price is a guy who can start at guard right away or win the center job outright and slide Groy over to guard or keep him as a valuable depth piece.
  23. I think this is much less about Mahomes being the 4th best player in the draft on a redraft and much more about Jacksonville realizing Bortles clearly isn't the guy and taking a swing on a QB when they had the chance.
  24. This is a very real and natural place to go after hearing the news but one of the things that's really starting to turn me off about football. I don't blame you at all for starting the thread and it's a discussion to have but brutal to hear about a guy being forced into retirement and having this be one of the first items we are forced to turn to as a fanbase or organization.
  25. Wow. Just wow. Hopefully he can move on with a normal healthy life.
