The Eagles added Alshon / Torrey Smith / Blount / Ajayi all the year after drafting Wentz. Wentz also didn't have Lane Johnson for a large chunk of his rookie year. A supporting cast isn't something that takes years to build.

I would rather spend the money on Ziggy Ansah if he doesn't get tagged. Edge rushers are more important that DTs.

I personally know a story of freshman going into a notorious football factory with ambitions on a major with rigorous academic requirements and being explicitly told by the football staff they would not be majoring in that subject.

I believe Herm Edwards on signing day said something to the affect of how shocked he was by the difference in obtaining talent, basically going from picking nits on guys and taking who you want vs begging 17 & 18 year olds to pick your team. Are the Browns even going to interview Rosen? I can't see how that wouldn't be the most incredibly awkward interview of the process, they've both basically said they have no interest in the other.

I would love the Jets to give Cousins an utterly insane contract. I fear them getting Rosen, assuming the Browns take Darnold that means we are left with Baker as an absolute best case scenario. I think our best case scenario is the Jets signing Cousins and taking them out of the QB market, Denver giving a decent contract to a guy like Keenum and not feeling pressure to take a QB high, eliminating the desire for Denver or Jests to move up from 5-6 to get Rosen and putting use in a position to have the best trade package without selling too much.

Which is fine. The frustration I feel (and probably others feel) is repeatedly using early round draft picks on the position then letting the ones who can play walk in FA. I realize it's different regimes and different defensive styles, but it feels like running on a treadmill to say the position is important enough to draft early repeatedly but never important enough to pay a second contract.

I think the Jets are going to do something to drop everyone's jaws with Cousins.

I expect a tag and trade. There were rumblings that teams were going to be hot and heavy on him in FA. Now Phins can keep him away from NE (who I think would have been pretty aggressive for him) and pick up an asset to potentially help move up for a QB.

Yeah, lets be conservative and draft the 8th best QB, it's worked great for the last 20 years.

JT Barrett belongs nowhere near that list.

Their running back play was putrid last year, worst in the league. Shady / Darkwa (who showed some flashes) / Vereen / Gallman seems much better.

If the Giants are truly building around Eli and not taking a QB early, Shady could be an interesting part of a trade package for them.
