  1. Eventually maybe the league will feel sorry for us and just give us one.
  2. Even if it's only 1 team crossing the line, how is that ok? And why would you want to be that one team. If you want Guice when he hits FA, isn't that going to make it an uphill negotiation?
  3. Right? He says "I love to suck some c___" does that take him off your draft board? Just completely unprofessional, bottom line. These are professional franchises. Ask him why they couldn't beat Bama. Ask him why he couldn't beat out Fournette. There's a world of completely appropriate questions that can test someone's resolve. Asking if their mom turns tricks, who does that? And some posters don't believe these guys are employees? Wtf?
  4. Yeah, pretty sure this is wrong. Only 1st round picks have a 5th year option. The 18th pick is worth more than the 33rd pick under any sort of convoluted math.
  5. After all the hype for the QBs, watch the top of the draft go: Barkley Nelson Chubb Fitzpatrick
  6. Agree completely. The "holes" argument drives me nuts. Every single team in the league has holes. They are only made bigger by injuries. The Eagles had a terrible receiver group around Wentz, a year later they had Jeffery / Torrey Smith (meh) / Ajayi / Blount and Clement and Agholar emerged. Having a "hole-less" football team doesn't exist, the teams that perennially make the playoffs do one thing so well it wins them the game most week. The teams that win the title are able to counter-punch off that. But this notion that every single puzzle piece needs to be in place before we dare to make a move for a QB is asinine.
  7. The problem with trading Cordy is traditionally players on large contracts are worth very little compared to the unknown allure of draft picks. If Cordy is valued like a day 2 pick and it lets us keep a day 2 pick, I'd be more inclined to include him in a package. But if he's looked at as a guy on a big contract and is worth a ~4th-5th round pick in trade, I'd much rather keep him here.
  8. The Browns have had more first round picks than any other franchise since the start of the century. They went 0-16 because they don't have a QB.
  9. I read the topic as "Would he make it to the 53 man roster?"
  10. Simple thread, what players are you confident will be off the board by the time pick 21 comes around? I hope this helps conceptualize realistic target and it'll be interesting to see who is listed and slips past 20. This is not intended to list 20 names, just the players you are confident will be off the board. My list: Sam Darnold Josh Rosen Saquan Barkley Quenton Nelson Bradley Chubb Minkah Fitzpatrick Denzel Ward
  11. The story I always heard was Brees left the Saints unhappy with their offer, got on the plane to come to Buffalo on his next visit and the Saints upped their offer to not let him get out of town.
  12. I don't think McCarron goes to the Browns unless they vastly outbid everyone or he's getting a concrete promise they aren't taking a QB with either top pick. It makes much more sense for him to go to somewhere like Arizona, where he'll be handed some nice weapons on offense and no clear path to drafting a QB fans will be pounding the table to play by mid season.
  13. "I want a white QB that stands there like a statue and goes through 5 reads!"
  14. This is utterly ridiculous (Matt Miller, hard difficulty) but I would take this all day: 21: R1P21 QB SAM DARNOLD USC 22: R1P22 LB TREMAINE EDMUNDS VIRGINIA TECH 53: R2P21 LB LEIGHTON VANDER ESCH BOISE STATE 56: R2P24 C JAMES DANIELS IOWA 96: R3P32 WR D.J. CHARK LSU 121: R4P21 DL B.J. HILL NC STATE 158: R5P21 QB MIKE WHITE WESTERN KENTUCKY 166: R5P29 LB SHAQUEM GRIFFIN CENTRAL FLORIDA
  15. I think he's washed up. Had no burst in Jacksonville last year.
  16. I don't know, latest has Hue pounding the table for McCarron and I'm not sure they are giving up on Kizer yet. It wouldn't really shock me to see them give McCarron an "Osweiler" deal, take Barkley at 1 and go Fitzpatrick or trade at 4.
  17. He doesn't play with a prosthetic I think at the least the kid is going to be a special teams terror and a true locker room leader.
  18. Baker & Rudolph I don't think Rudolph is anywhere near a 1st round prospect, he played in a gimmick offense in a conference notorious for poor defensive play with NFL level skill talent. Baker, I believe he needs to be in the perfect situation. I think he needs an innovative offensive coordinator / coach and be protected from the media a bit. I worry about him landing in Cleveland, where the Manziel comparisons will happen daily and he's shown he's got rabbit ears when it comes to the media / fans. Texas Tech was a long time ago, but when he was told he would need to compete for the job he packed his bags and went to Oklahoma, I think the brashness hides a fair amount of false bravado. He wilted down the stretch against Georgia and 95% of the time in college had a decisive talent advantage around him. Being an overly emotional guy, I worry if he gets drafted by a bad team in the wrong market (Cleveland, New York, etc), the interceptions and losses mount and his emotions spiral. On the flip side, I'm all in on Rosen. I think some of the criticisms (basically he's too smart) are utter nonsense.
  19. Sporano did essentially what you are suggesting with the Dolphins, snapping to Ronnie Brown with Ricky Williams sharing the backfield. Took the league by storm for 1 year. Then teams basically sold out on the run, dared the wildcat back to throw on them, they couldn't and the formation was dead almost as soon as it started. NFL defenses are simply too big and too fast to just overload it and run on them. Without a credible pass option, the idea is DOA.
  20. Despite being a glaring need, the defensive line depth next year also contributes to feeling fine pushing in for QB. Oliver / Bosa / Gary / Clemson guys / typical Bama prospects as headliners, I don't think some of the "we have so many holes" people even have a hint of an idea at what's coming down the pipe.
  21. And on top of it, you've got teams at 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 (depending on Cousins) who could all be fine passing on the QB and loading up the draft ammunition. I truly believe that as long as they've identified someone out of Rosen / Darnold / Mayfield / Allen to hitch their wagon to, this is the year to push some chips in.
  22. I don't agree. If they want to move up to get a QB, I think the Miami #11 / Washington #13 / Arizona #15 is the group they need to jump in front. I can't imagine one of the top 4 QBs falling to us at 21, maybe even top 5 with Jackson. The draft value chart has the cost of pick #12 roughly being pick #21 & #53 (that's just short of it). Based upon the chart, pick #21 & #22 is just short of pick #6. If Denver gets Cousins, I could see something like #21 / #22 for a pick in the 5/7/8/9 range, with us getting back a late 3 / early 4 to net out the same amount of picks and jumping the Miami/Washington/Arizona group.
  23. I don't know that he's ready to play much (from what I've heard he's not). I wouldn't be surprised if he signs a 1 year deal to stay in Minnesota with a training staff he knows.
