  1. You just don't punt on QB last year, come out and say your target is this year, acquire the picks we've acquired, trade Tyrod before FA opens, not even bid on Cousins or Keenum and play the waiting game on the last semi credible guy remaining if it's even a remote possibility you end up with Mason Rudolph at #12.
  2. The beaten down Bills fan in me believes that. But people who know things keep saying we are trading up. I think we end up picking at 2 or 4. It would not shock me if teams truly view Barkley as a transcendent player and he's either going 1 or 2. If Barkley is gone before the Browns pick at 4, I think they shop the pick hard with 2 QBs still on the board and the best players (Nelson / Chubb) fitting spots they are actually good at. It's the Browns. Stuff happens.
  3. It wouldn't be crazy if Saquon has the Giants and Browns locked up. Both teams want him, the Giants are bluffing the Browns hard that the QB they want won't make it 4, but they also know Saquon won't make it to 4. If Browns go QB at 1, the Giants just take Barkley and go home happy, unless they can find a away to drop to 4 and still get Barkley. If the Browns take Barkley, the Giants shop the pick for a kings ransom as it's the #1 QB, meanwhile the Browns are forced to live with potentially their 3rd QB choice after they went 0-16.
  4. It wouldn't surprise me one bit. Let's just work this out 3 ways. The Giants tell the Browns if they take Barkley then Darnold is gone, forcing the Browns hand at one. With Barkley spoken for the Browns can entertain a trade at 4, moving back to 12, picking up 22 & 65 in the process. A value chart "win" move equivalent to adding an extra high 2. Now that the Giants know QBs would go 2 - 3, they can trade with us down to 4, pick up #53 / #96 / 2019 3rd, a huge win for the Giants as they get the exact player they want while adding capital. So we trade #12 / #22 / #53 / #65 / #97 / 2019 3rd to get to 2, but have both our 1st and 2nd in 2019, plus #56 The Browns likely get an impact defensive player at 12, not Chub, but potentially Ward or Fitzpatrick, plus have picks 22 / 33 / 35 / 64 /65 Giants get Barkley and picks 53 / 97 / 2019 3rd Everyone goes home happy.
  5. I caught him on the radio here today. The local guys (Columbus) said something about the Bills loving McCarron, Schefter was basically incredulous, said there's no love for McCarron he just happened to be the right price and said the price for #2 is likely the 2 1sts this year, the 2019 1st and potentially a second.
  6. I think the Giants want Darnold and are going to hold the pick until they know he's gone. Once he's for sure off the board (either on draft night, or if the Browns announce it in advance), you'll see the action for the #2 pick get hot and heavy.
  7. They took Davis Webb in round 3 last year, there was some round 1 buzz on him and they are said to really like him.
  8. http://newsok.com/article/5470271 I could certainly see a scenario where Darnold is viewed as the "can't miss" guy of the draft class and once Cleveland announces they are taking him, either formally or informally, the bidding on #2 opens.
  9. I'm sure when Peterman throws for 3 TDs in some XFL game some on here will pop up to say "See, I told you he could do it!"
  10. I think he hit a home run at the combine and all the teams are tired of their RB coaches telling them to pick him.
  11. Step 1) Find out who Cleveland is hopeful to get at 4 Step 2) Find out what non-QB the Giants want Step 3) Tell Cleveland the Giants are taking their guy Step 4) Trade with Cleveland Step 5) Tell the Giant they still get the same exact guy at 4 as 2, but get to screw the Jets Step 6) Profit
  12. Some of the same people are saying it’s not worth trading up for QB because of Leaf and Jamarcus Russell, but it’s worth taking Baker because of Brees and Wilson.
  13. Go to #4 now. #12 / #22 / #65. (1,800 points for #4 vs 2,245 points for those picks). Then once the Giants decide they aren't taking QB, flip #4 / #53 / #97. Giants either get the #1 position player or shop again to the team desperate for the final QB on the board. Keep a 2018 2nd and all our 2019 picks.
  14. I really wonder if the Browns are willing to move out of 4 and what the price is, as much as I want #2, going to 4 right now might be the play. If the Giants decide to pass on QB, the price to go from 4 to 2, with them 100% sure QBs go 1-3 (and the added benefit of screwing the Jets) could decrease significantly. The price for a pick swap for San Fran and Chicago last year was a pick in the 60s and one in the 90s. If the Giants are asking for 3 1sts and more for #2, while the Browns would take #12 / #22 / #65 to make the move, we could make the move to #4 now to ensure one of the "Big 4", then flip to #2 with something like #4 / #53 / #97. Walk out not touching 2019 and keeping 1 2nd.
  15. Again. If Beane walks in and says "I know the Jets are offering #6 and 3 2nds, but we'll give you 3 1sts and 2 nds", the Colts don't turn that down over the difference between 6 and 12. You are contradicting yourself, you say they werent willing to go 12 over 6 in one line then turn around and say they want picks from two different teams. They are clearly willing to move out of 6, they've said as much, we just would have had to pay the price of two moves. We could have. We chose not to.
  16. Very likely synthetic marijuana. When it goes right, its the same effect as the actual stuff and it doesn't take 1-2 months to clear out of your system and doesn't show on standard tests. When it goes wrong, this type of stuff happens.
  17. They wouldn't lock themselves into anything, they could still easily move up or down, but it's naive at best to say the Jets put down an offer we couldn't beat. They gave up 1 first round pick in the transaction. We easily could have mitigated the difference between 6 and 12, or even worked out a deal with another team in the 7-9 range on the side, but we didn't, because we chose not to. Tell yourself what ever you want, we chose not to beat the Jets offer, likely because Beane wasn't comfortable with 3 guys at that point.
  18. The Buckeyes had him stymied until the offense going 3 and out over and over again finally added up and he laid an egg against them in 2016.
  19. That's the exact analogy I've used in my mind for the whole process. We don't exactly know how many chairs are worth sitting in, but we know 2 are gone at 1 and 3 already and the Giants are still sitting in theirs despite the music playing.
  20. Go get Rosen. The Jets pay a premium for a QB who can't hit the side of a barn, Baker is partying on South Beach and missing team meetings, the Pats magic dries up when Brady retires and we claim our rightful spot on top of the division for the next 15 years.
  21. The Jets didn't offer anything we couldn't beat. We simply didn't beat their offer and the Colts took it knowing what you said, they can get an elite player at 6 or trade down again. If Beane walks in there with 3 1sts and 2 2nds, the Colts don't say "no, we are just going to move to 6 instead". We didn't beat the Jets offer, the Colts claimed it was because they wanted to move to 6 so they didn't poison the PR well with us in case we are willing to meet the price for 6. That's a fair and likely true point. But this narrative the Jets did something we couldn't beat is just BS.
  22. Leaf didn't show up for the Colts interview at the Combine. These guys aren't slaves, they can do whatever they want to do, but if you are interviewing for the same job with a handful of companies who all talk to each other, you better be darn sure you are willing to live with the consequences if you tell one of them no without an offer in hand. Masters of the roll technique.
  23. I don't believe the Colts narrative. If we we would have slapped #12 / #22 / #53 / 2019 1st on the table, that beats the Jets deal, even if the Colts publicly say they wanted to move to 6 instead of 12. We had the picks to beat the Jets deal and then some. Either Beane knew there was another option or he got played for a fool.
  24. If they are reading this, maybe it's time to stop telling them they walk on water.
  25. It's nice to see Beane is starting to get around to evaluating the QBs. It's only been 11 months.
