  1. Now THAT would be disappointing. Get the Browns on the phone for #4 if it happens. Though more than a little part of me thinks it would be very funny if the Jets convince the Colts to move down to 6 because they are going QB, then convinces the Giants to do a swap because they are taking QB, then the card comes in: "With the second pick in the NFL draft, the NY Jets select Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn St" and the Giants are calling us instead of the other way around.
  2. If (and I still believe when) we trade up, I think it's for Rosen, aka a guy who can play right away. With the money McCarron was given and when we signed him, that's not a "We want you to be the starter going into the season" move, that's McCarron saying there's no where else where he realistically may have a chance to start and earn a different contract. I'm inclined to believe the Jets would be OK taking Allen, for sure starting McCown and having Bridgewater there as a backup too. But when it comes to Baker, my take is basically Baker is closer to Jackson in the eyes of the league than he is to Allen. I think there's a clear "Big 3" when it comes to the QBs this year, which is why the Jets were comfortable with their move.
  3. The league has Allen well above Baker. The fans have Baker well above Allen.
  4. I don't see Chubb for them with a transition to 3-4. The signed Kareem Martin as a likely JPP replacement in FA. Davenport as an OLB and Evans in the middle next to Ogletree could be VERY nice pieces for a 3-4 transition.
  5. If you don't need a QB and someone is willing to offer you a "QB package" for a top pick Reading is hard.
  6. At this point I would give them 12 / 22 / 2019 1st / one of the picks between 53-65. The 2nd/3rd rounder they can use to get back up a bit if they choose. I just don't see anyone else in the league in a position to beat that. The Broncos would need to offer #5 / #40 / #71 / 2019 1st to roughly have the same value, but they have to feel good that they likely walk out with Baker as a worst case scenario right now and I don't know they would be willing to not pick till round 4 AND be out a 2019 1st just to move up 3 spots.
  7. Giants have a young QB they like (Davis Webb) on the roster, was drafted in round 3 last year. They don't need another project. Personally I think "Blue Chip" talent is the most overrated notion in the draft. Seems like every year there's ~6 guys who are the "blue chip" guys. Seems like almost half of them can't stay on the field due to injuries or wash out because of off the field problems (Blackmon) or just aren't as good as people thought (guys like Dion Jordon). Meanwhile there's guys who are valued slightly lower at the position (Beckham vs Sammy) who are often times just as good if not better. Nelson may be a once in a lifetime player, but the last two guards who went top 10 as "can't miss" guys (Cooper & Warmack) missed. If you don't need a QB and someone is willing to offer you a "QB package" for a top pick, I think it's foolish to put all your eggs in one guys basket, regardless of how "can't miss" he may be viewed.
  8. No, essentially the Bills traded Watkins & Darby for Mathews, EJ Gaines, 2nd round pick, 3rd round pick.

  10. You don’t think the standards are slightly different for the football program?
  11. If only the academic standards at UCLA were more like Bama.
  12. I thoroughly enjoy it. They ask ridiculous off base questions (I remember a couple of years ago they asked Schefter if the Giants would give the Browns a 2nd round pick to flip flop draft picks in round 1) and Schefter's tone is straight up "come on guys, I'm doing you a favor, I don't have time for this nonsense".
  13. I think Denver is fine with Baker and keeping their picks. Their coaching staff had him at the Senior Bowl and he's a similar player to Keenum.
  14. I completely agree the 2019 1st is what I want to hold on to, but I don't think it's realistic.
  15. I think we give up #12 / #22 / 2019 1st as the price for the trade with one of #53-#65 as the kicker to help the Giants move back up. I just don't see Denver in a position to offer #5 and 2 more 1sts, I think they know they are getting Baker and the coaching staff knows him from the Senior Bowl.
  16. This is all well and good, but if you want the QB and the Giants say "we want #12 / #22 / 2019 1st, plus #53" pick #53 is not going to be the reason you turn it down.
  17. Calling it now, it's going to happen. I think it's going to be #12 / #22 / 2019 1st / #53 / #97 for #2. The Giants would do VERY well on the trade value chart while we pretty much have a full draft this year (picks in all rounds 1 - 6) and are only down 1 future pick. It's a package no one else can beat. I think the Giants then turn around and trade #12 & #53 to get back up into the 6-8 range and get Nelson.
  18. That's where I fall too. I think they aren't ready to toss out Davis Webb as well. It's possible they view one of these QBs as too good to pass up and take him if he's there, but I think the Mara's respect Eli too much to take a QB this year. I really think Nelson is the guy they want but they know they can get him later than 2. That's where Denver really worries me. However, I could see us making an offer Denver can't, then the Giants giving some of that back to get Nelson at 6 or 7. If I had to bet right now, I say the draft goes: 1) Darnold - Browns 2) Rosen or Allen - Bills 3) Rosen or Allen - Jets 4) Barkley - Browns 5) Baker - Broncos 6) Chubb - Colts 7) Nelson - Giants Basically the Giants could take 12 / 22 / 2019 1st / 53 from us, then turn around and flip 12 / 53 to get back to 6 or 7. Giants get the guy they really want, plus 22 plus 2019 1st.
  19. It would be really funny after all this speculation if the top of the draft went: 1) Barkley 2) Nelson 3) Chubb
  20. "With the 4th pick in the 2018 NFL draft, the Cleveland Browns select Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville"
  21. Schefter is pretty funny with the guys here (Bobby Carpenter and Anthony Rothman - a radio guy). They do a weekly Wednesday spot with him and he doesn't really pull many punches when the guys here are off base. The guys here said "the Bills love McCarron and could be fine letting things fall to them" and Schefter basically laughed at them, said McCarron is only here because there was no where else to go and said that's not what's going to happen.
  22. I fully expect the Dolphins to take Jackson at 12 if they don't trade up for Baker. Schefter was very specific about the price for #2 ( #12 / #22 / 2019 1st and maybe one of the 2nds) today here in Columbus. That's a win on the value chart for the Giants and a trade we can make without feeling like we sacrificed our future (or even present). It's also very difficult for any other team to match.
  23. I think his height is irrelevant. I think he's had enough "incidents" to give teams pause.
