  1. Picking him over Darnold is just sooooo Browns.
  2. I believe it's RG3 still in "modern" history 2012 #2 for 2012 1st (#6) / 2012 2nd / 2013 1st / 2014 1st The Herschel Walker trade is still probably all time, but it's pretty clear teams were clueless back then: Walker / 90 3rd / 90 5th / 90 10th / 91 3rd for 90 1st - 2nd - 6th / 91 1st - 2nd / 92 2nd - 3rd / 93 1st
  3. This is funny: http://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/story/_/id/7904173/2013-nfl-draft-mel-kiper-first-big-board-year Also funny, look for full Kiper big boards / mock drafts from past years. ESPN archives EVERYTHING, except for Kipers old work, you won't find anything on their website beyond just a snipit.
  4. Who knows, maybe these Rudolph truthers are on to something and teams see him as a legitimate option at the top of round 2 (or trading back into round 1). It's kind of been a recent trend for QB needy teams at the top of the draft to take one of the "blue chip" guys early and swing around with a QB later. I could see Denver taking that path, taking Nelson to shore up their line then flipping around with a guy like Rudolph to develop behind Keenum. As much as teams might be enamored with Rosen or Allen or even Baker, they could also say "this guy is going to get me fired if he misses, we don't have Rudolph (or someone else) THAT much lower on our board, take the elite position talent now and see who is there later".
  5. If there's anything at all about Rudolph actually coming out of OBD it's either a smokescreen in hopes to lower the desperation factor in trade talks, or it's to reset fan expectation on picks not being available. I really have a hard time believing they've evaluated all the QBs and decided Rudolph is anywhere near the top 3.
  6. I still have a hard time seeing Elway pass on a QB he likes, but by the same token I think they recognize their oline has been horrendous for several years, preventing them from having any sort of run game for several years and not allowing a QB any time to do much of anything. I could see them saying Lynch hasn't had time for a fair evaluation and Keenum is the guy for now anyway, let's actually build up a running game and see what we have with either guy before we take a guy who is going to sit all year.
  7. I tend to believe the Giants aren't going QB either as I think their ownership is nowhere near ready to move on from Eli, they feel terrible about him being benched last year and aren't going to turn around and draft his replacement this year. I believe they are going to take their time and evaluate every top prospect. If they see one guy (Chubb or Barkley) as simply too good to give up, I think they stay at 2 and take the player. If they see 2 or 3 guys on that level and Denver is willing to meet their price they move down to 5, get more picks and get a guy like like. If they like ~9 guys with no one head and shoulders above the field, they take all our picks and go to 12, potentially allowing themselves to move back up again.
  8. They won't be saying that after Haskins is done next year.
  9. Yep. I still get ESPN the magazine, never ever open it up, but it's always one of the options whenever someone's kid has a magazine fundraiser.
  10. I always say with Mel Kiper, if he knew half as much as he pretended to know some team would have given him a lot more money than ESPN a long time ago. His ability to have immediate recall of almost every player in the draft pool is to be commended, but it's 2018, the networks can pull all of that up with a custom highlight package the moment any name is announced. I switched to NFL Net's coverage several years ago. Was forced to watch ESPN last year due to circumstances. They didn't announce a details of our trade at #10 until nearly 20 minutes after twitter and co had put it out.
  11. I think it had more to do with him being the 5th or 6th best target on the team. Thomas is a clear WR #1, Kamara was a breakout pass catching star, Ginn and Tommy Lee Lewis give you a vertical threat Sneed doesn't, Coleman gives you a big body Sneed doesn't and Hill emerged as a TE who can stretch the seam and give some matchup trouble.
  12. They are certainly a team I would be engaging right now. If they are receptive to trade talks, that's gotta give you a pretty good indication they are leaning away from QB. It would be a VERY nice spot to be in should the Giants decide they are equally happy with 2 of Chubb / Barkley / Nelson.
  13. I better duck when I say this, but I could certainly see the Jets being better than us this year.
  14. This will likely date me some, but I could certainly see a team treating Jackson like the Steelers treated Kordell Stewart. When the Steelers took Stewart, they used him as a WR and a gadget player at the beginning of his career because he was too dynamic to not have on the field, as he grew comfortable in the offense they transitioned him to QB and O'Donnell went to the Jets in FA. For that reason, I don't know that he would last that long, but man could I see the Patriots drafting him, using him at WR and occasional RPO QB as they transition him to TB's long term replacement.
  15. Rudolph also has a high risk of not even becoming a decent NFL starter. I'd rather swing on potential greatness than best case mediocrity.
  16. Chubb - I've seen some scouts say he's better than Garrett. I think it's entirely reasonable the Giants see him as a "can't miss" pass rusher, which almost (I said almost) is as valuable as a QB. Barkley - Like I said, I've seen some plugged in people suggest McCagnan is in job preservation mode, wanted to move up to get Barkley and have an immediate impact rookie instead of a QB who isn't going to see the field and is likely drafted for the next guy. Ward - It could just be Columbus - Browns centric, but there's A LOT of buzz starting to build around here about the Browns being in love with Ward, especially after he dropped the 4.32 40. That buzz building would certainly make sense if they are hearing Barkley is likely gone by 4. Nelson - The Broncos line has been a trainwreck for years and he's viewed as much as a can't miss lineman as there's been in a while. I'm starting to get the feeling those are the 4 "Blue Chip" guys this year If the draft fell like that, I think the Colts shop the pick HARD, you are basically looking at Fitzpatrick / James / Smith / Edmonds as BPA, if they are equally fine with any of them, or even Vea or Davenport, they can drop to 11 or 12 and still get one of them.
  17. Personally I still think Jackson at worst case is sitting there at 12. I'm becoming increasingly convinced a move up to the ~6-7 range won't cost THAT much and gets us one of Allen or Mayfield. I think that's the most likely scenario. I really want Rosen, but I wouldn't be heartbroken over giving up 1 2nd to make sure we get Allen or Mayfield and I could talk myself into Jackson at 12. Mason Rudolph simply isn't a round 1 talent and would be JP Losman all over again.
  18. I've seen plugged in people suggest the Jets moved to get ahead of the Browns for Barkley. People here are QB crazed and think that's ludicrous. It you listen to some sources, there's a real chance the draft goes: 2 Giants - Chubb 3 Jets - Barkley 4 Browns - Ward 5 Broncos - Nelson Suddenly the Colts are sitting at 6 and shopping the 2nd best QB on the board. Do I think that's likely, of course not, but there's certainly a chance it happens.
  19. Bills football "Sure, we got the 7th best QB in the draft, but we got this linebacker. Also here's a cornerback and a running back and a receiver who is already hurt." May as well hang it outside of New Era.
  20. Surrounding a QB with Leveon Bell, Antonio Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Martavius Bryant is very similar to surrounding him with Shady McCoy, Kelvin Benjamin, Zay Jones, ???. I guess when you can't compete in football any longer you have to strut about basketball.
  21. How many bad posts does it take to define Sky Diver?
