  1. I believe a trade up to #2 is the most likely scenario. You need a QB to legitimately win. But once you have that, you need depth throughout the roster. The Giants season last year showed they desperately need an infusion of young talent throughout the roster. Not something that can be accomplished with just one supposed elite blue chip player, plus a few other rookies, but something that can be accomplished with 9 picks in the first 69 players. Honestly I think the deal is already done. My reason for it not being announced yet is a little Machiavellian, but currently the league is generating buzz from the ownership meetings, rule changes, etc, however it's a crowded news cycle, especially in sports, with the Final Four, baseball opening day, etc. I think the league is going to wait until they can dominate the news cycle and generate buzz for the draft by announcing the trade closer to the event.
  2. If Josh Allen is really good there's going to be plenty of board crow to go around.
  3. I have no problem with people piecing together information and using one of several threads that are already discussing the potential options to post their thoughts. All thoughts are welcome. I think it's dumb to start threads and put "Possible trade with X" as a clickbait thread topic.
  4. Exactly. We just need to make a rule about no thread titles involving "trade with x" unless there's an actual trade. This nonsense is ridiculous.
  5. Let the record show that how Bama builds their team, how the Ravens won the Super Bowl 20 years ago and Ryan Leaf are entirely irrelevant to how football is played in 2018 and the topic of trading up in the 2018 draft. When you need to pull clear outliers for your reason not to do something it's moronic at best.
  6. I'm slightly discouraged something didn't happen during the owners meetings. But I have a hunch Beane walked out of there knowing what the price would be for #2. Either it's something we aren't in position to pay right now requiring one more little jump up and we want to be sure we are comfortable if we did get stuck, or we just want to be sure the #2 (or #1) guy on our board is that much above the #4. I completely feel the uneasiness, but these guys know they need to find a real answer at QB and I simply don't believe their evaluations on a guy like Mason Rudolph is THAT much different than everything else that's come out about him, to the point were they are comfortable with a day 2 caliber player being their answer.
  7. Me too. Just reading tea leaves. Tampa is already talking about being open to moving down. If Denver or Indy is as well, I think they'll just as likely take the picks. Teams are getting to the point where they've got guys grouped, if Denver / Tampa / Indy has 1 or 2 guys at the top of their boards that they pretty much know is gone, then know they are just as likely to get a guy in their second group at 12 as ~6, I think they move quick to secure the extra assets. Bringing Baker in yet again (4th time with him) feels like they are making 110% sure he's a guy they are willing to bank on. It's entirely possible Gettleman told them they want Nelson and won't drop back further than the 5-7 range. Make the move up now to secure one of the top 4 guys and strengthen your position with the Giants, but be 100% sure you can live with what you end up with should something go sideways with the Giants.
  8. 50% Baker 50% Allen Just my hunch based on nothing, but I think we are going to move into position to secure Baker as a worst case scenario pretty soon. Then I think we'll work on getting the guy we really want (Allen) at 2.
  9. I've definitely come around on him. I think everything you look for physically is there, it's a once in a lifetime arm talent and personality wise he's a perfect fit for the team and city. I'm sure I'm reading way too much into it, but I'm wondering if a trade to 5 or 6 is in play right now and that's why they are doing the due diligence on Baker. Move to 5 / 6 knowing worst case Baker is secured, then work on moving to 2 with the Giants. I think Allen is the prize they really want.
  10. Yep, no where close. Everyone knows we are the basement at 12. Teams will (probably already are) be working very hard to get in front of us. With Lamar bombing the pre-draft, I think there's a very clear separation with the top 4. It's one thing if the Giants go QB at 2, the Browns won't move from 4 and the Broncos go QB at 5. I think Chubb & Barkley have separated themselves at the top of the position players, outside of those two I expect the teams not going QB are going to be shopping the picks hard. Patience to see what happens down to 12 is not an option. Absolutely agree. The Giants & Browns could sit at their picks to take Chubb / Barkley, but if Denver isn't going QB I expect they'll trade out and the same with Indy. You don't turn down the package of picks for a guard or DB.
  11. That's the pick I'd be trying to get right now if the price is even close to reasonable. It all but guarantees you one of the top 4 QBs and could open up for a very reasonable trade up to #2.
  12. Concerns about his completion percentage are highly overrated IMO. He's not running anything like Baker was at Oklahoma, Wyoming runs a vertical offense with subpar skill talent, he was asked to do A LOT more than some of these kids coming out. If you do podcasts listen to "Move the Sticks" (Bucky and Jeremiah) 360 podcast on him, it's really good. Push aside the noise and the people who clearly are just parroting critiques and it's hard not to be very interested in this kid. He would fit our culture and the city of Buffalo like a glove.
  13. I think Allen is going to be really good. I've seen enough people who have no clue what they are talking about rip him down and on the flip side people whose opinion I respect talk highly of him. The guy has the physical tools to get something positive out of a bad play and when he's on he's hands down better than the other guys in this class.
  14. No more Bama linebackers. There are major questions about Evan's athletically and he hasn't addressed any of them in the process. Frankly I don't think he's anywhere near a fit for what's required from the linebackers in McD's system.
  15. Cleveland's GM also had comments about Rosen's personality being something he wouldn't be interested in before he was hired as GM.
  16. 12 / 22 for 5 / 109 Call it in.
  17. Ballard said he'd trade out of 6 in the press conference announcing the trade. We would have had to pay an insane premium to beat the Jets trade, that doesn't mean the Colts won't trade #6. Why sell 1 of the QBs once when you can potentially sell 2 of the QBs?
  18. I think it's more of a 1) "how committed are we to Eli" and 2) are Chubb or Barkley the "hall of fame" talents Gettleman keeps quoting? If the answer is no to both questions, then I think you hold the pick ransom for the most possible you can return. Is Chubb worth Edmonds + potentially a high pick in 2019 that could be a player like Bosa / Oliver / Gary + potentially #22 / and 2 (if not 3) of 53-56-65? Is Barkley worth an impact player at 12 + Guice + a 2019 1st + 2-3 more picks? If you decide one of the QBs can handle a seamless handoff from Eli, by all means no package is worth moving out. But if you decide Eli has 3 more years and you still believe in Davis Webb, it's tough to say any 1 position player is worth all you can get.
  19. If they traded down with us AND traded Odell they could have a staggering amount of draft picks.
  20. There are rumors Denver really likes Rudolph, maybe a swap with them, something like 12/22 for 5/99, that leaves them in potential position to make a move for Nelson (they have a bunch of 4ths) up from 12 or sit at 12 and get an impact defensive player and still get Rudolph at 22 before the Steelers / Saints etc if someone is thinking of grabbing him late.
  21. Zona and Miami already have that time, even to move to 7. You just don't know how the price could change, you get into draft night and Mayfield or Rosen is the only guy left at pick 7 and suddenly you've got Buffalo, Miami, Arizona, etc all really throwing offers at you. If Tampa is open to moving back now for any sort of reasonable price, do it. They are down a 3rd already from the JPP trade, they may be happy with any one of Ward / James / Edmonds / Roquan, feel comfortable of getting one at 12 and be open to moving down for one of 53 / 56 / 65 right now.
  22. Yep. Worst case you move up to 7, you still see the 4 QBs go before you, but you just gave up a 2nd and you get one of Chubb, Barkley, Nelson or Fitzpatrick, guys who would never make it to 12 anyway.
  23. Bucs and Giants just made a deal a week ago so they obviously have a working relationship. Get Beane, Gettleman & Licht in a room. Give the ransom to Gettleman, Licht gets a nice little bonus to move from 7 to 12, Giants get Nelson or Fitzpatrick as a worst case scenario and are in position for a slight move up for Barkley or Chubb.
