  1. Ian RapoportVerified account @RapSheet I'm hearing the 49ers are giving serious thought to selecting Josh Rosen with the #9 pick. They realize it may incite a riot on the Two Bills Drive message board and trading has been outlawed in the NFL, but the way top position players are coming off the board and the cost certainty regarding the pick it's very tempting to double down on the position. The assumption within the team is Rosen will be happy in the Bay area, close to family and willing to learn behind Garoppolo. The team feels his future value when trading is put back into the league would vastly outweigh a normal #9 pick. Also, team executive Chuck Wagon was overheard saying "those Dolphins are getting a franchise QB at pick #11 over my dead body".
  2. I was defending the pick...
  3. Right. If Barkley / QB go 1 & 4, does it really matter the order? Now if Chubb goes #4....
  4. In fairness, the Browns having picks 1 and 4, 4 QBs people could live with, no possibility for a trade at 2 for QB, all in all it's a pretty unique situation.
  5. I'd feel much better about Baker if he was bringing Lincoln Riley with him.
  6. Look back at the last few drafts. Almost every single trade of a future 1st is for a QB.
  7. Jarvis Landry / Odell Beckham / Golden Tate / Brandin Cooks / Josh Gordon / Martavis Bryant / Stefon Diggs All slated to be free agents next off season. Plus guys will likely be on the trade block, plus we'll have draft picks. Rome wasn't built in a day. Hit on the QB and we can fill the pieces in around him.
  8. I'm in again. Any way we can randomly assign teams?
  9. So they have a contingent deal with the Giants. What happens if the Giants player is on the board? What happens if Miami or Arizona trades with Denver or Cleveland at 5 / 4 in the next 3 weeks?
  10. It's entirely possible #3 was the only pick available, the Jets recognized it and have beaten us to the punch. I feel comfortable saying there's no way Baker falls to 11 if QBs go 1-2-3. Someone (us, Miami, Arizona, ?) will move into the 5-8 range to take him. My worst case scenario: Your QBs 1-2-3, then Denver or trade up from behind us for Baker in the 5-~8 range, then Miami takes Jackson at 11, we freak out and take Rudolph at 12.
  11. I think if Beane were willing to offer up 12 / 22 / 53 / 56 / 65 / 2019 1st we'd have pick #2 right now. They just aren't getting a better offer from anyone than that. So either 1) the pick simply isn't available at this moment or 2) we are holding out for the price to go down.
  12. The Pats have gotten nothing from round 1 and 2 over the last 2 years. The roster depth getting exposed because they've traded picks and lost them due to league punishments. While I don't trust they won't push all in to get one of the QBs, they badly need an influx of cheap young talent.
  13. Doesn't matter how many bullets you have if you aren't willing to put them all in the gun.
  14. Why can't Cleveland just be a professional and announce who they are picking for sure? Pulled the same thing last year there was Trubisky talk up until the card was turned in. Rams announced they were taking Goff immediately, but Cleveland at #1 the last 2 years we get amateur hour.
  15. Right. If he decided getting one of these young QBs is what's best for his organization, I have full faith Belichick would make it happen. Right now it feels like Beane is haggling over minor details while the rest of the division is positioning to box him out.
  16. Then he's a moron for not finalizing it and allowing the Giants to continue to negotiate.
  17. One more move for a pick in the 7-10 range that Beane said he's not willing to make currently could flip that equation pretty quickly.
  18. Just because we have "better" picks doesn't mean we have equal willingness to get it done.
  19. That's what I'm waiting for. Dolphins trade #11 / 2019 1st / 2020 1st for #2 to break any time now. Then Pats trade Gronk / 23 / 31 / 2019 1st for #4. Meanwhile, Beane pokers himself into Mason Rudolph at 12.
  20. Watch them trade Gronk / 31 / 95 for a pick in the 7-10 range...
  21. And so many holes filled. And a GM who can play poker apparently.
  22. If there's any sort of semi reasonable deal from the Giants we have to pull the trigger.
