  1. If the Giants are trading the pick, we've certainly talked to them. I wouldn't be shocked if Beane is finishing up the homework on all the QBs and determining if 1) there's a guy or 2 guys worth going up to #2. 2) They are okay with 4 guys and are willing to let picks play out a bit on draft night. 3) They are comfortable with 5 or 6 guys and aren't willing to move up much at all. From the Giants POV, they are in no rush, but we can offer the most and aren't going to move until they know they aren't get everything from us.
  2. I think it goes: Cleveland: Darnold - I think they are worried about taking Rosen and are afraid to pull the trigger on Baker at #1, so they opt for the "safe" pick. Giants or ???? (Bills or Pats): Rosen - I think teams are going to evaluate him as the most classic NFL QB option, either the Giants just take him or someone makes it worth their while to move down. Jets: Mayfield - he just feels "Jets". I think they lean away from Allen because he's just a little too much like Hackenburg, typically when teams get burnt on one type of QB prospect, they'll flip to the opposite the next time they take one. At 4 I could legitimately see the Browns as a trade out option, they have a lot of picks, but seem to really want one of the top DBs and potentially would want to address the oline earlier than makes sense currently. They could take the 12 & 22 package, take whichever top DB falls to 12 and potentially move up from 22 with their plethora of picks to get McGlinchy or Connor Williams. But Chubb could just be too tempting. It still feels like a 3 way trade where we get #2, the Giants get Chubb at 4 and the Browns get 12 / 22 and other picks has merit.
  3. Even if we get shut out of the QBs, I don't think I'd mind moving up from 22. Adding both Edmonds and Smith could take our linebackers from terrible to potentially great in one draft.
  4. I think it's entirely possible the Giants know they are moving out, have given us a price they know no one is going to beat and the hold up is committing the capital on our end. This week we are getting up close and personal with each QB, once that's completed, we could see if the team is really ready to meet the Giants price. That seems like a reasonable ask from Beane to Gettleman given their relationship, let's make sure he's the guy with as much vetting as we can do, we have the biggest "war chest" in the league outside of the Browns (who aren't moving up) so we could very well be the Giants primary trade target.
  5. Do we need to move up from #22 before making a deal? Brandt says the draft is 13-17 guys deep. We've seen several analysts land around 21 players. I wonder if our offer wouldn't be much stronger if we worried less about moving from 12 to ~7 and more about moving up from 22, even up to that level. There's been reports both the 49ers and Raiders are open to deal, if we can move from #22 with pick 56 and a 2019 3rd (value that falls between pick 9 and 10) would an offer of #10 / #12 / #56 / #65 be more enticing and easier to build than moving up from 12 to ~7?
  6. So you mean to tell me when QBs have better WRs, they are more productive?
  7. If the rumors about the Giants and Darnold are true, it can't do anything but help. If they pass the other 3 to take Allen, Allen busts and the other 3 hit, I don't know how they overcome that with the fans.
  8. Several analysts have said there's ~18-21 players with a "1st round grade". Rudolph isn't one of them. If one of those level players is on the board it would be a mistake to take Rudolph over them. I don't see all that much difference between Rudolph, Lulietta, Luke Falk, Mike White. If we get shut out of the top 4, using one of the picks betweeen 53-65 on one of those guys isn't a terrible alternative.
  9. Everything is relative. If we pick Rudolph #53, I can get on board. At 12? storm the castle.
  10. Josh Jackson I can't imagine he's there at pick 53, so we would have spent a 1st rounder or traded up to get him. I hate him for 3 picks against OSU.
  11. We can have a really good draft if we do trades the other team wouldn't agree to and drafted players who'll likely be gone 20 picks before our pick.
  12. Can we pin topics for each of our picks? It may help keep down clutter.
  13. I'm 98% sure Licht never said it was the Bills who contacted him, it was just some crackpot on twitter trying to connect dots and make a name for himself. That's where a huge portion of these rumors come from, amateur "analysts" who spam twitter with content in hopes their name gets picked up in a ESPN report. As for the type of reporting you are looking for, it just doesn't happen before the draft. Often times after news breaks, reporters put together a story about how it came together, especially for big trades in the draft. But the reason you aren't seeing credible people say too much is because people like Schefter and Rapoport actually care a lot about their credibility, they aren't going to blow teams up because it would irreparably harm their relationships.
  14. That's why I wish Beane would jump all over the Bucs pick at 7 if it's a decent value trade. At 7, even if you get locked out of the QBs you are still getting one of Chubb / Nelson / Barkley.
  15. For that reason, I think Beane should have pulled the trigger on a deal up to 7 if it was a reasonable ask. From 7, you know either one of the "non-QB" 3 would be there or the 4th QB. It's a unique pick, likely one that's not lost on Licht and the Bucs FO. What's our worst case at 7, all the QBs go top 5 and we are left picking a premier pass rusher, badly needed OG or a stud RB to potentially help extend Shady's career. But what do we know. There could already be contingent deals agreed to with any one or multiple of NYG / Cleveland / Denver / Indy or Tampa.
  16. Nothing has changed, but it all depends on the Giants and Broncos. If they both stay and go QB we are screwed. If they both pass on QB, the price to move up could end up being VERY reasonable. For that reason I think there's a bit of a stalemate in trade talks. The Giants and/or Broncos likely would want a ransom to move out, but their willingness to move out would indicate they aren't taking QB anyway, creating a catch 22.
  17. Landry would be my pick but it's clear he's not going to win. We could do a lot with an edge rushing rotation that included Hughes / Lawson / Landry / Murphy.
  18. I get your point, but he missed walk off kicks in both week 1 and week 2. They were 9-3 after the 0-4 start.
  19. I'd take Jackson / Payne or Hurst over Vea / Rudolph all day, I don't think Vea and Star compliment each other well.
  20. multiple votes for Rudolph?!
