"Giants 'don't like' Josh Rosen".

I was going to post in the other thread that it makes a lot of sense. There's rumors the Browns are pretty interested in 12 and 22 so they can get one of the premier DBs and a LT in round 1. It certainly seems there's a possibility the Browns are equally ok with Darnold or Allen. Giants guys have speculated for a while the Bills and Giants like the same player (Darnold). If the Browns trade 1, it forces the Giants hand, it's unlikely someone is trading up for Allen at #2 and it seems the Jets are all in on Baker, so basically the Giants watch the Bills trade up for Darnold, then if they don't like one of the other QBs, their clear best play is flipping with the Browns to 4 and taking the top position player while picking up another pick. Browns get the haul for a trade up to 1 and still get a player they are comfortable drafting. I do think there's some credence that both the Giants and Browns are very interested in all the picks we can offer. I think the Giants ideal plan of action is moving to 4-5, picking up a couple extra picks and likely taking the same guy they would at 2. I think the Jets want Baker. Woody Johnson is tight with Trump. I know someone whose been affiliated with the Jets for a long time, politics is no minor factor with Woody. Rosen isn't the type that's going to push his beliefs aside and I think it's a deal breaker with him and the team. -
It was 17-13 and the Buckeyes had the ball in Oklahoma territory going into the 4th quarter. Hardly a woodshed beating.

I think the Giants want to trade the pick. I think they'll get more if Allen goes #1. I too think the Browns are trading out of 4. IMO they'd love to add one of Fitzpatrick / Ward or maybe James to their secondary at pick 12 and someone like Hurst or Payne at DT at pick 22. Between Garrett / Ogbah / Nassib / Collins, they aren't too bad at DE. CB and DT need some serious help.

Bills #53 Pick Poll - TSW Mock Draft
Chuck Wagon replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What a bunch of "meh" -
Buckeyes would have won with a real QB.
-
Just picture Baker and the Jets head coach getting into a screaming match after Baker's 3rd pick while Rosen calmly leads the Bills down the field for his 4th td pass of the day and a 31-3 Buffalo lead.

Baker just screams Jets.

#12 / #53 / #56 / #65 / 2019 1st / 2019 3rd for #2 / #108 is pretty much dead on with what the Rams gave up to go to pick #1. We keep pick #22. It'll be VERY tough for any team to match that offer. The Dolphins can't, the Cardinals can't, the Pats likely can't. -

I do know one thing. After looking at the board mock draft project, I'm fine giving up all 3 picks between 53-65. If the 2019 1st is a must include, I wouldn't mind seeing if we can hold out #22 and give up all picks between 53-65. Then we could go QB at 2 and impact linebacker / Ridley / DL / OL at 22. -
Double gut punch. I was pretty intrigued with the idea of going both Gesicki and Goedert at picks 53 and 56, hoping worst case we end up with a better TE than we've had in decades between the two of them, best case we hit two studs and can create some real mismatches out of 12 formation.

I think part of the problem is some of the posters aren't willing to accept a step back from a playoff team, even only short term. They see "holes" all over the roster and can't see the forest from the trees. It's a total rebuild, we just happened to make the playoffs year 1. The goal isn't a Super Bowl team in 2018, it's to get the QB position in place, then start building around it. -

But they gave away 2 1sts / 2 2nds / 2 3rds. #12 ~ #15 Future 1st ~ Future 1st Then you are down to #22 / #53 / #56 / #65 vs #43 / #45 / #76 / future 3rd Obviously there's more value on our side, but pulling out one of the picks between #53-#65 swings that to be pretty much in line with the Rams trade to #1. That's where I think a deal to #2 will land. If we hold out pick #53, we basically have a full draft this year, #2 / #53 / #96 / #121, picks in each round 1-4 and down 1 future pick. I could see the Giants sending a 4th either this year or next year to smooth things a bit, but I expect something in that ballpark. -

I just don't think we would have put on the QB press we are putting on if we have been told none of the picks in the top 5 are available. Sometimes information is a smokescreen to deceive another team, but other times it's floated to prep your fanbase for a move. The Giants want to play poker with the pick, but they don't want their fans to be completely sold on a QB or Chubb / Barkley then yank the rug out. -

The Titans got #15 / #43 / #45 / #76 / a next year 1st and a next year 3rd to go from 15 to 1. Some combination of #12 / #22 / 2 or 3 of #53 - # 65 / 2019 pick isn't that far off. -

Clearly not. But if the Giants trade the #2 pick to Miami, they take Rosen, he's the next Marino and we sit and take a second tier QB who busts, are you going to be mad? -

You don't know that a few franchises don't view these QBs like Peyton / Luck. No one is going to show their cards and it only takes one team falling in love. -

Unless we get Denver's pick at 5 or Cleveland's pick at 4, I just don't see where it makes all that much more sense for the Giants to go from 2 to 7. At 7, they could see all of Barkley / Chubb / Nelson off the board and be forced to take a player not all that different from pick 12. Why lose a big premium for that? Teams know what other teams can offer. If the Giants decide to move the pick, I don't know they need to wait till they know what the Browns are doing, they'll have a price and move when it's met. -

I just don't see much for the Giants to gain by smokescreening they don't like Rosen when they actually do, unless the Browns are legitimately looking into offers for #1. I guess if the Jets are head over heels for Rosen and the Browns are equally fine with any one of 3 or 4 QBs, there's a chance they could flip 1 and 3. -

Chuck Wagon replied to BurpleBull's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not convinced the Giants wouldn't be willing to move down to 12 just to avoid losing some of the premium from the pick package. I'm assuming a move from 12 to 7 wouldn't be a value neutral deal, we would have to kick in some bonus. But the Giants could have several of Fitzpatrick / Edmonds / Ward / Smith / James ranked to the point they are comfortable operating from 12 while taking an extra 2nd, instead of the 2nd going to turn 12 into 7. If one of the guys you were going to take at 7 falls into the 9-10 range, you could be looking at a much cheaper price to go get that player. When the Titans traded the pick to the Rams for Goff, they dropped down to 15 weeks before the draft then went back to 8 on draft night. I'm convinced the hesitation to trade to 2 is as much on us not being willing to pull the trigger until the homework is all done on the QBs as it is on the Giants doing their same homework. But if both teams reach a conclusion and a price, it could happen well before the draft to allow for follow up moves. -

I could see that deal with the 2019 2nd rounder kicked in. Considering the 12 + 22 = pick #5 in value, that's pretty close to the Jets trade of moving up 3 spots with 3 2nd round picks. That allows us to have a full draft, while giving the Giants 5 picks in the first 2 rounds the next 2 years. It would also be tough for other teams to match. -

I agree. I think it's a huge week. We are having a final go round with each prospect. It was probably unlikely to expect a deal before any of this. But if they come away after this week with 2 guys who they are fine landing, we could see a deal sooner rather than later. -
I think Gaines realized he could be playing the slot or a nickle back role here, opposed to Cleveland he could play a much bigger role and better position himself to hit the market again. Preston is from Cincy, I can't imagine we offered him all that much more, he probably would rather just go home for semi equal money. Matthews was garbage and is redundant between Benjamin and Zay, he's also positioned himself with NE to up his market value.

You have to. If we don't pull the trigger on a move up, there's certainly a potential scenario where both NE and Miami move up and 3 of the top 4 QBs are coming to our division.
