My biggest fear is we give a ton move into the top 5 to take Allen and Rosen slips to ~10-11

12 / 53 / 96 to land Rosen would be amazing. That leaves enough to potentially add 3 more starters with 22 / 56 / 65.

IMO the Giants staying at 2 and drafting Barkley is best case scenario (unless there's two QBs we really want and they go 1-3). The Giants staying at taking QB is worst case scenario. I think our best scenario is Barkley #2 / Chubb #4 / Nelson #5, aka the teams who aren't desperate for QB taking the "elite" prospects. That would leave the Colts looking at the DBs / LBs with two of the "top 4" QBs on the board, ie perfect position for a favorable trade up to potentially get one of our guys.

IMO McD knew the whole FO would be turned over after the draft, he likely gets 1 real shot at QB, he was going to wait on the scouts he trusted to evaluate and identify the QB to stake it all on, they weren't in a position to decide that last year.

If we trade up to the top I want Rosen or Darnold, I think they are the only two worth going there. If we have a very reasonable deal to go to ~6, I would be happy with Baker or Allen there, there's enough with them to be interesting but enough cause for concern to not want to give up 22 & 2019 1st. If we sit at 12 (basically if Giants and Denver go QB and we are doa) then Jackson would be ok. If something happened we couldn't trade up and Jackson went before 12, I want to use our picks to build the best team around McCarron, add a QB with our picks between 53-65 and see what happens.

Smoke I think Gettleman wants us to give up a ransom, but I think Beane is reading the landscape and gambling a guy they like is going to be available in the ~6-8 range. If they are going QB, they aren't trading anyway. So many potential scenarios in play. We could have made a very aggressive offer to the Giants that's caused them to go back and look at the QBs again to make sure they aren't missing something. Or they could have offers no where near what they are hoping to see and be trying to drum up increased interest.

The defense has fallen off a cliff, but they've had a terrible o-line and no running game for several years. I think Elway recognizes it hasn't been set up for any QB to succeed and they answer that instead of tossing in another guy who is fighting an uphill battle. The real funny thing is if the Giants and Denver do pass on QBs and the Jets gave up 3 2nd round picks to take the same QB at 3 they would have gotten at 6.

I could see Denver taking the route that Oakland and Dallas have recently, taking Nelson at 5 and waiting on round 2 or later to add Rudolph / White type to the mix with Keenum / Lynch. If 2 of the top 4 QBs clear Denver, the price to move should be VERY reasonable, frankly if 2 QBs are on the board I'd laugh at Indy asking for #22, I'd offer them #12 and 2 picks in the 53-65 range. Once you get into the 6-7-8 range, you know you are getting the same level prospect at 12, teams are going to be calling us to make a move up.

I think the Giants are just going to take Barkley at 2, assuming the Browns don't take him at 1. I don't expect they'll get cute with a move down with Denver and risk losing him to Cleveland at 4. I think our only path to #2 is to get #4 first.

I wish I would have taken Baker / Leonard or even Griffin in round 2 instead of Rasheem Green. I didn't realize Foster's legal situation is as bad as it is, it looks like he's done.

You can only wait if there's two guys you like on the board. That's what the Texans did last year with Watson and Mahomes, they were willing to wait as long as both were there, once one went they hit the phones hard.

Everything I have seen recognizes Darnold needs A LOT of work on mechanics, but he's the youngest guy in the class and has the physical tools, I think scouts see an "it" factor. He doesn't have the baggage of Rosen (real or perceived) but I agree with you, I think Rosen is easily the better QB right now.

I don't see how the Bills go from 12 to 1 without next year's first involved. I think the more realistic deal is: Bills out: 12 / 22 / 53 / 65 / 2019 1st ( ~3,615 points) Bills in: 1 (3,000 points) Browns out: 1 / 4 / 35 (5,350 points) Browns in: 2 / 12 / 22 / 53 / 2019 Bills 1st (5,845 points) Giants out: 2 (2,600 points) Giants in: 4 / 35 / 65 (2,615 points) Browns crush it in trade value, Bills pay the premium to get 1, Giants break even, but draft the same player and pick up an early 2 and early 3. Browns get the same guy they are going to take #1 at #2, 12 is in "elite" player territory and 22 is in range where they could easily move up and get 2 elite players outside of the QB, plus load up with 2 1sts next year. If they have good intel the Giants aren't going QB, they know they are getting Rosen or Baker. If the Giants are sure QBs are going 1-3 and they don't want one, I'd have to believe they'd be more than willing to drop back to 4 getting extra picks. I'm sure I'm blending. I badly want this to happen. There's likely too many moving parts for it to really happen and I'm sure I'm seeing things I want. But I think it sounds as plausible as anything else. I'm sure these teams have talked over and over again.

IF one is to believe the supposed Browns insider their decision making is pretty well split between Baker and Rosen. They could have all 4 graded at a level where they are comfortable taking any of them and are fine assuming the risk of going to the 4th guy. Personally I tend to believe the Giants Darnold interest is smoke. But I think it's possible we've hammered something out with the Giants and it's contingent upon Darnold, the Giants want to stay top 5 to get Chubb or Barkley, the Browns said "we aren't taking Darnold anyway, give us something and we'll help make this happen". The point I always go back to, if we don't know there's something very possible for one of these QBs, we've wasted A TON of draft prep time.

A lot of people connected to the Giants say they are taking Darnold if he's there, it's a consistent refrain, it could be complete smoke or it could be legit. It could be a reasonably safe assumption if we want Darnold, we need to go to 1. Once we go to 1 and the Giants know Darnold is off the table, they could be open to dropping to 4 and getting the same player at 2, getting more picks and giving the Jets a little kick while they are at it. Also, the price of 1 vs the price of 2 might not be all that much different. I don't buy the kid has any insider info, but if you do some theory crafting this is a decently logical scenario to arrive at, one I've been kicking over in my own head the last few days. The other problem, if the Browns put the pick up and we don't go get it, then we are really risking getting locked out and watching 4 QBs go top 5 with no chance at any of them. Good work. I'd give that package without hesitation. I'm sure there's been extensive conversations between the teams. If the Giants say they want to stay top 5 this accomplishes it. If the Browns don't want Darnold, this gives them a chance to recoup value for Darnold while still getting their top guy. It also gives us a chance to get our top guy.

You could see them phasing him out of their offense at the end of last year. His talent no longer warranted the headache he caused. I think he lands in Washington. They need a big WR, they've got a couple guys who can get the deep ball with Doctson / Richardson and Crowder in the slot, but no big body WR
