  1. I think the NFC West could be the most competitive division in football over the next few years. I don't feel the same way about the AFC East. The Cardinals are a team in transition.
  2. The days of QBs standing back and going through several reads are just done, defenses are too smart and pass rushers are too good. The majority of "good" offenses in the league operate off just a few reads, it's what got Matt Ryan & the Falcons to the SB with Shanahan, Foles to the SB with Reich, and Goff's turnaround with McVey. Frankly I'm more concerned with our offensive coaches / skill talent than Allen as a prospect.
  3. I want to see Jimmy G. dominate that division while the Pats enter into a QB-less 20 year wasteland.
  4. I can already see that Denver game. Rosen spends the preseason berating teammates and giving coaches sarcastic remarks. His teammates think "what's with this kid?" Some OT destined for the practice squad is half a beat late and suddenly there's nothing between Chubb and Rosen but wide open green grass.
  5. I badly wanted Rosen as our QB. But the vision of the rich kid from Cali getting his butt kicked over and over by Wilson, Jimmy G. and Goff in a division that has minimal impact on us is mildly amusing.
  6. Nothing about the McCarron signing screamed "that's our guy" IMO. I think all 5 are going to have a chance to win jobs early. Every year it's "Wentz is going to sit behind Daniel" or "Winston is going to sit behind Glennon" or "Watson and Trubinsky are going to sit all year". Then teams either realize in the preseason or quickly into the season the rookie QB is the best chance to win and the change is made.
  7. "I'm not your savior Cleveland". "Please pick me NY". "WHAT?! I DIDN'T GET WHAT I WANTED AND SAM DARNOLD DID?!"
  8. Durability certainly is a factor. I think the Cardinals are a very interesting spot and it's especially interesting to see Rosen sharing a QB room with Bradford. Rosen doesn't need the game. That's not a question of his competitiveness or desire to play, I'm sure those are there, but realistically he doesn't "need" it. It will be interesting if he sees Bradford's injury history come to light first hand, looks at a retiring Larry Fitzgerald in the next few years, a team in major transition, takes a couple head shots, still more is learned about the cumulative effect of head trauma in the game and hangs it up very early. That' can't be ignored as a possibility.
  9. Bradley Chubb takes note. Circles August 30th on the calendar. Roquan Smith hears the quote and takes special note of September 23rd.
  10. The most important job as a fan is to not blindly support your team regardless of what moves they make, it's to hold them accountable for their decisions. Many of us here feel the wrong choice was made. We all hope to be wrong in that assessment. No one is going to boo the kid if he lives up to the selection. But this notion you can't question your team and you need to blindly support them is utterly ridiculous. It allows for the potential of apathetic ownership who keeps cashing checks regardless of the product on the field.
  11. This front office is going to value culture highly when it comes to decision making. They went with the clear culture fit.
  12. Ultimately there's a disconnect on how the scouting community views Allen vs how the fans and media view him. The same is likely true for Rosen. Rosen is exactly the type of prospect who scares hardcore football people. Durability concerns, he likes all the "stuff" that comes with the game. Allen is a no-nonsense prototypical QB prospect with an off the charts arm. People can't like McBeane's personality, "trust the process" and all that stuff and be upset with Allen over Rosen. Allen is a McBeane pick way before Rosen would be considered.
  13. I honestly believe Rosen had no interest in being in Cleveland or Buffalo. I think he tried to steer to New York over Cleveland, it went too far and cost him several spots, but he was thrilled to land in Arizona vs Buffalo. Look at the teams potentially rumored to be in on QB around our range. Miami. Arizona. Chargers. New Orleans. New England. Rosen isn't a Bill because he didn't want to be a Bill. I think Josh Allen is out of his mind thrilled to be a Buffalo Bill this morning. I don't think Rosen would have felt the same way. Ultimately I think that's what swung it.
  14. The thing that really gets me angry. If we had let the Cardinals "win" for Allen, we could have potentially traded #65 / #166 for Rosen, done the same deal with Baltimore for Edmunds (give them 56 instead of 65) and been sitting with Rosen / Edmunds / pick 53 In reality it wasn't just Allen vs Rosen. It was Rosen + a 2nd vs Allen + a 5th
  15. I can get there on Allen. I can certainly appreciate the work that was done to get the #3 (or higher) QB on their board given where they started, keep enough to add a stud LB prospect and not give up any future picks. It was very well executed. If Baker - Rosen - Darnold go off the board 1-3 in some combo and everything else played out liked it did, I would be pretty happy. But man, Allen over Rosen because he can throw better in 2-4 games a year just feels like such a classic garbage idiot Bills move.
  16. They should put a normal ~5'10" guy in every picture of these two for perspective.
  17. I felt the same way. Euphoria at trading up to get one of the guys, mounting excitement to hear "Josh" and utterly deflated to hear "Allen"
  18. So if Rosen or Mahomes goes on to win 4 Super Bowls, Allen goes on to win 2 in a clear Hall of Fame career. They face each other a few times in the playoffs, Allen wins a few but Rosen or Mahomes win a few more. Is it the disaster you claim?
  19. I think the Bills offer was the same for every pick between 4 and 7. I think it was down to them and Arizona bidding and the Bills knew if Arizona wasn't willing to put in the 2019 1st, they couldn't realistically beat 12 / 53 / 56.
  20. Personally I question if some of the criticisms about Rosen weren't put out to intentionally steer him away from places like Cleveland and Buffalo. If Josh Rosen really wanted to be a Buffalo Bill, I firmly believe he would have been the pick. There are no such questions with Allen.
  21. If you had told me a week ago the Bills would walk out of night 1 with Baker & Ward and the Browns would walk out with Allen & Edmunds, I could have found a way to believe you. That one team did it starting at 12 & 22 and the other did it staying at 1 & 4 fully sums up my thoughts on the Browns night.
  22. Everything you look for in terms of the position physically. Arm talent to fit the environment. Personality to fit the city. Now the task is putting in pieces to allow him to reach his potential.
  23. DE might be the deepest position on our roster....
  24. It's unfortunate the Allen pick is colored with views of Watson / Mahomes / Rosen. It's reality, but also unfortunate. The reality is, none of us really know. Allen could hit, be a future MVP, a big guy with a big arm who can keep plays alive and make throws downfield. Rosen could see the injury toll Sam Bradford has taken first hand, catch a really good shot behind a porous line in Arizona and say "I don't need this". Had the Giants taken Darnold, the Jets Rosen and we made the exact same move, I think the reaction would have a very different tone.
