4 step plan to success for last 9 games

Trade every vet with any semblance of value for more draft picks. Cycle through street FAs in hopes of finding some diamonds in the rough. Lose every single game. Draft Bosa or Oliver. -
The 5 year (realistic) plan for this team
Chuck Wagon replied to ShipUPride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, if we are in year 2, hopefully we'll see: Offseason - draft Bosa or Oliver, otherwise load up on rebuilding the Oline and adding offensive playmakers through draft and FA. Next year, we'll be garbage again because I have little faith in Allen or this offensive coaching staff. Hire an smart offensive head coach to replace McD and draft Tua, continue to rebuild offensive support talent. 2020, Tua at QB with a rebuilt offense and an offensive head coach, along with a defense featuring Bosa or Oliver / Edmunds / White as the backbone. 2020 or 2021 we are good. -

Mahomes could have hypothetically had Watkins / Woods / Goodwin / Hogan here. I thought I remember stories about Whaley wanting Mahomes but his hands were tied. -

The Saints were going to take him if the Chiefs didn’t. Despite Brees clearly having a couple more years in the tank. Smart offensive minds were falling all over themselves to get him. Perpetually poorly run teams couldn’t get over how “raw” he was. The difference between haves and have nots in this league. -

That decision makes me want to do something else with my Sundays. It’s going to haunt us for a decade. -

I think Allen can be a homeless man’s Roethlisberger. He’s never going to carve up defenses like Mahomes has so far. -
Who to start against NE?

Peterman. Need to make it clear to McBeane he belongs nowhere near a NFL roster -

The Chiefs offense looks like Bama playing against Mercer in the NFL. Ours looks like Mercer playing against Bama. I think they could score 80+ on us if they wanted. -
It's pretty clear McD wants an experienced OC so he can be hands off on the offense and delegate that. IMO that's a self defeating prophesy, basically "good" experienced OCs are head coaches now, or aren't going to leave for our situation. So by limiting to experienced OCs and not taking a chance on lower position coaches, we are hiring into a scheme that's failed somewhere else.

The season mistake was Teddy Bridgewater
Chuck Wagon replied to betop's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sorry, I thought a message board was a place for a conversation. I was replying in a thread about someone wishing we had signed Bridgewater and simply stating taking Mahomes + not having to move up this past spring looks like the clear mistake. How are you adding anything replying in a "I wish we had done...." thread stating it's a useless exercise. Literally everything that's done here is a useless exercise, a place for fans to talk about frustrations or things that interest them. -

It's not though. There were plenty on the board who liked Mahomes (or Watson) and there were plenty who thought we overpaid to move up for a subpar QB prospect. It's the same old as this franchise has been the last two decades. Plenty see the brick wall coming every time, but many claim we should blindly support everything the franchise does. -

But seriously... We take Mahomes last year at 10, he sits behind Tyrod all year. We lose White (though I world exists where we could have potentially had White instead of Zay Jones). We don't have pick 22 this year. So since we are all the way down the rabbit hole, lets say they move up and get White instead of Zay Jones (obviously White was higher on their board and obviously they were willing to move up) In 2018, we have no need to move up in the draft for QB, so we keep Cordy at LT and pick 21. We still trade Tyrod as Mahomes is the starter now, so we sit at the draft with picks 21 / 53 / 56 / 65. 21 - Billy Price 53 - James Washington 56 - Royce Freeman 65 - Fred Warner So basically we could have had: Mahomes / White / Glenn / Price / James Washington / Royce Freeman / Fred Warner Instead we have: Allen / White / Zay / Edmunds Yeah. -

Nope. Currently Mahomes is the franchise altering decision. -
7 trade targets for the Bills

There are open questions about Cooper's desire to play football. A 2nd for him is utterly ridiculous. -

Going Through WORST Possible Scenario With Allen
Chuck Wagon replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bottom line, this regime won't get the opportunity to pick another QB high. If Allen is a bust, then someone else takes over and makes the pick. It's early to judge, by the same measure you could say "what garbage the Rams / Bears are putting Goff / Trubisky around". Even the Eagles had nothing outside of Ertz in Carson Wentz's first year. They simply have to do better with the offense this offseason, no easy fixes are coming the next couple of months. -
So if we say 65 (every 1st / 2nd team QB + Kaep) are better than him.... At the bare minimum there are 20 QBs currently in college better than him. (about 6-7 QBs go top 4 rounds annually, so 3 classes worth is 20) If we say ~7 between CFL / Arena league better than him and ~7 recently retired players, that's easily 100 and doesn't even count current practice squad or free agents.

Going Through WORST Possible Scenario With Allen
Chuck Wagon replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First off, they aren't going to take another QB high this draft, it's just not going to happen unless Allen is down for his career or there's reason to believe it might be the case. That being said, I think it's far from worst case scenario. Allen saw plenty of live bullets and has real takeaways to work on. Now they can put Peterman in to play tank commander and finally force McD to get rid of him, meanwhile Allen avoids more abuse / hits to his confidence. Worse case scenario would have been the defense willing them with just enough help from Allen to something like 7-4 and real playoff talk, then Allen getting hurt and Peterman throwing up all over himself, tanking the rest of the season but not getting a good draft pick.
