Bills fall from 6th to 10th in Draft Order
Chuck Wagon replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We actually fell from 5th to 10th by winning.... We potentially could have gotten up to 3rd, if the 49ers (who seem to be coming on) played all Rams backups in week 17 and the Raiders got Chiefs backups in a similar situation. 3rd would have been a VERY nice position. Either we get Bosa, or we get a nice package to move down to ~8th for the Jags or Giants pick. But the 15 years of winning pointless December games to make sure we pick 10 has worked out so well. Moral victories! LOL He's trying to prove a point, nevermind he actually proved the opposite point. -
Passing League my eye!! Think again.

11 carries for 31 yards and a fumble lost in the Pats vs ATL SB. I certainly lend credence to the idea of a guy who can get you a yard when you need a yard, but LeGarrette Blount is not the quickest route to success in the NFL. -
Brady and Belichick Deserve to Go Out On Top
Chuck Wagon replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They've been on top enough. Brady deserves to go out like every other great QB, with it crystal clear he can't physically play anymore. -

Yes, not having Blount gain 3 yards a rush is killing both the Pats and Eagles seasons. -
Bills fall from 6th to 10th in Draft Order
Chuck Wagon replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The loss in draft position vastly outweighs any gains of moral from a victory. If Prater makes a FG at the end of the game, do our guys loaf more in work outs through the offseason? There's tangible losses in the quality of player from these meaningless wins. -
Who is Rooting for Miami (sorta)?
Chuck Wagon replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only thing I care about now is us getting as high a draft pick as possible. -
I want no part of Tyrell Williams
Chuck Wagon replied to HomeskillitMoorman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think anyone who is "clamoring" for him views him as a guy who is going to come in and be the #1. But I do think if you combine him with Foster / Zay / McKenzie / McCloud we could have an interesting group, albeit one that lacks a true #1. It did seem the weather took a lot of the vertical element out of the Chargers pass game last night, which is typically one of Williams' strongest aspects. But he's certainly not a KB type player. -
Barnwell: Progress Report on 2018 1st Round QBs
Chuck Wagon replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I always expect the worst from Barnwell on the Bills and he never disappoints. So basically, Allen 9 GAMES into his career is a slightly worse version of what Tyrod was 7 YEARS into his career but everything is trash. -
You can't just invent a trade out of thin air though. Typically teams aren't moving up for anything outside of QB, depending on where our pick falls we might not be shopping a QB. Adding a stud (and cheap) D-lineman to the defense with White / Edmonds & company isn't not a need anyway, Hughes is 30, Kyle can't have many more years left, Star is 29 and I don't think Murphy or Lawson is going to turn into Kahlil Mack at this point. When you are picking top ~5, you take the blue chip talent, there will be plenty of "need" players at good value later in the draft.

Are the Lions sort of the Bills of the NFC?

Lions = Browns. Both teams had a great run in ancient history, neither has played in a Super Bowl. Bills = Vikings. Both are 0-4 in Super Bowls. Both have had some very exciting offenses at times and stunning playoff losses. -
Lose out! I don't see San Fran winning with their remaining schedule, but I think we could get to #2 if we lose out, Arizona beats Atlanta, Atlanta beats Tampa, Oakland beats the Bengals, the Jags beat the Redskins and the Jets beat the Pats backups. #2 is either Bosa or potentially trading Haskins (please come back) or Herbert for a bevy of draft picks.
-
Well, still holding out hope we can get to pick #2 or #3 and get Bosa with QBs going ahead of him. Sign Paradis / Saffold / Tyrell Williams Given what we've seen from Zay / Foster the second half of the year, adding in Tyrell Williams, plus maybe McKenzie / McCloud and use our 3rd / 4th round picks on WR / RB / TE, wherever the value falls and we have the basis to hope some WRs emerge. Take a OT with our 2nd rounder, if he can push Dawkins to RT it's a bonus. So Dawkins (or Rookie) / Saffold / Paradis / Teller / Rookie (or Dawkins). We need one of everything, but right now I would hope to prioritize shoring up the oline.
-
Matt Paradis / Rodger Saffold / Leveon Bell / Tyrell Williams I'm not sure the cap savings on cutting Shady, but given we have ample space, it might be better to transition him to a more part time role. People will flame paying Bell, but with cheap guys at expensive positions, I think we can easily stomach the luxury. Paradis and Saffold can replace what we had with Wood / Richie with young (cheap) oline around them between Dawkins / Teller / potentially highly drafted tackle. I don't expect a WR to be worthy our or first draft spot, but Williams is a lot of what we need (big guy who can win vertically) and would pair nice with Zay + a 2nd/3rd round WR.

I largely agree. It's not Ray Rice. It is being exaggerated by TMZ. But it's really not a good look, this issue just popped up again with Foster, video changes opinions and it's really bad timing for Hunt & the Chiefs. If it was thoroughly investigated by the league and found to be nothing, I'm not sure a suspension is warranted, at the same time the league has shown themselves to be VERY reactionary with things like this.

(hypothetical) Alabama vs. Bills spread
Chuck Wagon replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This should be locked. Bills weren't the worst team in the league when this hypothetical came out and now clearly are not the worst team in the league. We would house Alabama. -
