People do realize that GASP players can play multiple positions?! I know it's a crazy concept, but some actually see value in a guy who can play multiple spots. In fact, some defenses in the league even have multiple players who play middle linebacker at the same time! I find the possibilities with Edmunds and White to be very intriguing.

Ultimately it's a people business. It's one thing to look at a guy on tape and see he can check all the boxes on throws / processing etc. It's something else when you are handing a 21 year old kid millions of dollars and the keys to the franchise. A guy could have every tool in the box and not be able to handle that responsibility.

IMO Beane thought he could put a better offer up than the Jets and thought the Colts would play it out a bit longer. They took the Jets offer 5 weeks before the draft. It locked the potential moves up to 1 spot (#2) and put the Giants into a commanding position on the price. There wasn't much point in trading to 4, the Browns weren't taking QB there and it was after the Jets pick anyway. We had a deal in place with Denver at 5 but it was canceled when Chubb fell there. I think the Colts targeted Nelson from the beginning. Then we went to 7. I still believe Darnold was our #1 guy, but I think it was a 1A vs 1B situation on Darnold / Allen.

If you are getting Bosa or Quinnen Williams at 9 or Metcalf in the 2nd, you are mock drafting too early, or using a completely defective tool.

So basically, the Giants didn't want to pay Collins, a MUCH better player than Peppers, who wanted to stay with the team. So in order to make up for that they had to get Peppers back, essentially making that a wash, a less talented player for a lot less money. Getting the 3rd back was just making up for a 3rd they wasted. So they traded their best player (or second best if you want to argue Barkley) for the 17th pick in the draft but are doubling down on a 38 year old QB.

[Vague Title] An top OL just became available. Wow

This thread title and then the OP talking about Donald Penn is such an epic fail. -
Morse is a Texas kid who has spent his entire life in Big 12 country. Really glad the ink is dry on that contract, I'm not sure if the Saints would have pursued him given their cap situation but that might have been a tough fight.

Really doesn't seem like a scheme fit...

Stefon Diggs being traded to Washington? Likely no

Now that is a guy who I think would compliment our WR group and Daboll's offense very well. -
Roster Concerns Prior to Draft
Chuck Wagon replied to richardb1952's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We "need" one of everything but at the same time we don't "need" anything. There's no glaring holes but a lot of position groups could use an upgrade of some sort. -
It was a bad overpay... IMO, the biggest thing with FAs is signing a guy to do something he's already doing, not overpaying on hope he can do more. It seems like that's where the biggest mistakes come in, ie a guy produces well for half a season after an injury gives him a chance, new team signs and pays starter money to be an opening day starter. Pass rusher performs well on situational work, new team pays him like a starting DE (Mark Anderson...). I don't think we are asking / paying anyone we signed in this wave to do more than what they were already doing.

How the state of the Bills franchise has changed dramatically
Chuck Wagon replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Meh. In a "matchup" league, I'm not seeing a lot of difference makers on the offensive side of the ball. We are still going to be asking a 2nd year QB to put on a super hero cape most Sundays. Maybe Shady finds the fountain of youth, Foster continues to develop into a prime target and Brown can stay healthy and put it all together, but we are still near if not at the bottom of the league when it comes to the skill positions. The possibility of a 10-11 win season is certainly there, with what should be a good defense and a team fully bought in, but there's still going to be plenty of rough patches this coming season. -
If that's your plan, you are better off waiting an extra year for Lawrence or maybe Fromm or Fields.

The rumor yesterday was the Dolphins stayed behind in Oklahoma to spend an extra day with Murray.....
-
If the rumored price of a 3rd for Rosen is anywhere near right, they'd be crazy not to do it. I know people are down on Rosen a bit but him for a 3rd vs maybe Lock at 11 or Jones in the 2nd seems like a no brainer. If it doesn't work, you flush it out and take the QB early next year (kind of like Cleveland with Kizer).
-
Unless they trade for Rosen or move up for Murray / Haskins, Dolphins QB depth chart is likely to be Osweiler / Fales / Falk and maybe someone like Bortles or McCarron. Yikes.

Hockenson at #9 Change My Mind
Chuck Wagon replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How i view it. At 9 we are right on the edge of two different clusters. Basically if Murray / Haskins and one or two surprise picks go top 8 we are getting one of the top tier prospects, but if everyone is off the board we are picking one of the first out of the next cluster and a similar talent is likely available at 15. -
Hockenson at #9 Change My Mind
Chuck Wagon replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This. IMO #9 is a 5 player spot for us: Bosa / Quinnen Williams / Allen / Oliver / White. I could be talked into Sweat but he feels a little "Vernon Gholston-y" to me. If one of those 5 are on the board, take them. If all 5 are gone by 9 I can entertain Hock, one of the OTs or a trade down. -
I'm sure we offered a better contract, but Morse does seem like the type who would choose Allen / Buffalo over Darnold / NYC. And I'm sure this is just Manish trying to save face for the Jets by suggesting the Bills wildly overpaid.
