  1. DeMarco Murray He's the reigning offensive player of the year in the heart of his prime. Under normal circumstances Dallas would never let him leave in FA. His contract will likely be slightly depressed due to RB values, but he's an absolute star and would be our primary weapon. Keep FJax-Bryce-Dixon for situational backups but make Murray the heart of the offense and build the run & defense team around him. Gore has seen better days, Ingram was a scrub until he hit his contract year, we don't need to take a rookie in the 2nd-3rd round and the belief there's a bunch of rbs late is a myth. Almost all of the top backs were taken in the 2nd or 3rd round. People get high profile instances like Alfred Morris and Arian Foster in their mind and believe there's 5 1,000 yard backs in the 7th round of every draft, the simple truth is for every Morris there's multiple Ronnie Wingos who'll be lucky to make a roster.
  2. Thank you. At least one reasonable person. Demarco is 26 and coming off winning the offensive player of the year award. He's got half the touches on his body as AP and 500 less than Ray Rice. Why people want to keep Spiller or add a guy like Ingram baffles me, it's like everyone has convinced themselves there's no way he's any good ever again so they want to project upon guys who haven't shown nearly as much as Demarco in hopes of catching the next elevator up. Demarco would never be available unless the Cowboys were seriously capped out. He's a superstar and still has plenty of tread left. Add him and one of the guards and suddenly we just need EJ to occasionally bootleg or throw a quick pass to Sammy, we'll be running it down teams throats.
  3. Don't get the love for Yeldon. He looked like Bama's 3rd best back before Drake got hurt, may be even lower with some of the freshmen on their team. I don't think Boling and Orlando Franklin are going to cost significantly less than Iupati like some seem to believe. They are all good guards I'm their mid 20s, they'll all get paid. My top 3 FA targets would be Revis, OG & DeMarco Murray. I agree we need a TE but there should be a really good one available at 50. I think Julius Thomas is largely a product of Peyton and Cameron is a product of Browns fans overhyping their players. Neither can stay on the field and neither are close to guys like Gronk or Graham. Revis changes our defense and allows us to put him and Gilmore on islands. I think Rex can find someone to fill Hughes shoes and not do it at a premium. I don't think there's any one player who could impact our D as much as Revis. I want Demarco. I know people believe there's a plethora of 1,000 yard rushers available late in the draft but any amount of research shows that's largely a myth. Murray would give us an offensive bellcow and we could use Fred-Brown-Dixon in specific roles to spell him.
  4. But he's still kicking. I think it could easily be a Brett Favre to the Vikings type deal where we get one strong year from Peyton followed by one trainwreck year where it's obvious he should have retired.
  5. If Peyton goes to a new team it's because he plans on playing more than 1 year and wants a 2-3 year window. I do think we'd line up well with what he wants to accomplish, it's just that I don't see us being Peyton's top choice. We weren't Rex's top choice. Peyton should be our top target.
  6. Fair enough on Decker. My point is the Jets aren't exactly the wasteland of talent we'd like to believe and they've got a mountain of cap space to throw on a 1-2 year contender. I think the NFC West fell off a bit. 49ers have a new coach, big questions with Kaep and a bunch of FAs. Cardinals have Palmer coming off a big injury and lose Bowles as their DC. Rams could draft one of the top receivers and going from Austin Davis/Shaun Hill to Peyton could make Tavon Austin, Kenny Britt & Jared Cook look a lot better real quick.
  7. Brick & Nick are clearly better than Glenn and Wood and those are the only 2 non-question marks on our line. I don't see how our skill guys are clearly better than Decker/Harvin/Amaro/Ivory.
  8. The Rams are more appealing weather/stadium wise than we are and are in a similar position as us just needing a qb. The 49ers wanted him bad and could trade Kaepernick to roll with Manning. The Jets are likely as appealing or more than us. It's a major market, he could reunite with Decker, the have a pro bowl LT & center and have gobs of cap space to build a quick contender.
  9. I'm not saying there's not a chance (though I was refering to RG3 more).
  10. Thank you Feels like we're spiraling Start out talking about Big Ben, Rivers & Eli Down to Kaepernick Down to RG3 and Bo Levi Mitchell (really?) Down to Glennon With people trying to talk themselves into every level. Glennon is Ryan Mallet with a worse arm and worse pro coaching. If we are going to be a run and defense team, we need a QB who can at least attempt to keep a defense honest on a bootleg. Glennon makes Bledsoe look mobile.
  11. I want Demarco Murray. He's younger than both AP and Rice and has 1,100 less touches than AP and 500 less than Rice.
  12. IMO. RI signals we are going cheaper with the right guard spot, let him battle it out with Urbik and Richardson. I expect it means we are going more expensive with a sure answer at the LG spot, ie Roman's old LG Iupati.
  13. People might (or might not) be surprised to learn how much of the league views Johnathan Martin as the guy who broke the code of the locker room. Richie is viewed as an ahole, but he's surprisingly respected among players as he works hard and has his teammates back. I expect we'll go after Iupati to lock down the LG spot and have competition among a few for the RG spot. Signing Richie will make headlines, but unless he's better than guys like Urbik and Richardson, he's not coming anywhere near the final roster.
  14. FA IN: Revis Doug Free Boling DeMarco Brandon Graham / Dwight Freeney (ie Vet 3/4 OLB) Hoyer Resign: Searcy Easley Spikes Cut: Rivers Chris Williams Trade: McKelvin FAs OUT: Spiller Hughes Pears Draft AJ Cann or Laken Tomlinson round 2 TE round 3 3/4 OLB round 5 TE round 5
  15. Thank you voice of reason. The guy can't play. The Titans talked themselves into the hype and cut him after 1 year. He's not a big upgrade to Henderson or Kouandjio (Oher is Cyrus in 6 years) and we should be going after a strong run block RT like Newton or Free.
  16. I want to go after Derrick Newton or Doug Free to play RT and Iupati or Boling for LG. RG I'd like AJ Cann or Laken Tomlinson in the draft. Glenn Boling Wood Laken Tomlinson Free Bench- Henderson Kouandjio Richardson Urbik Waive Chris Williams Now that's an Oline that has some potential and it wouldn't require breaking the bank. Boling and Free are especially interesting. They likely won't cost as much as headliners like Newton and Iupati but they should be able to deliver 90% of the more expensive options and represent dramatic upgrades for us. Iupati of course has the ties to Roman to help get over the hump of coming to Buffalo, which could be an advantage over Boling. I'm not sold on anyone we currently have but Glenn and Wood, even then it's just tenuous.
  17. That's how I feel with Rivers. He'll be a FA after this year and is 34, the Chargers could get a nice package for him, save $16 mil and not have to worry about giving out a $100 mil deal to a 35 year old.
  18. The site I'm looking at has us at ~$24 mil, with a $7 mil committment to Orton, so closer to $30 mil. Plus cut Chris Williams after June 1 frees up another $2.5 mil
  19. To me Revis is an easy choice over Hughes and Julius Thomas. I expect Rex to be able to find a guy to do what Hughes does (likely a better fit than Hughes) for a fraction of the price Hughes would require. There's no one comparable to Revis and the likely replacement (McKelvin?) is going to be nowhere near Revis level. Revis-Gilmore-Graham gives us perhaps the best corner trio in the league, if the opportunity cost to that is a OLB likely to be overpaid and a questionable scheme fit then it's not even a conversation. No to Thomas. The guy can't stay on the field and when he is on it he can't block. Our offense is likely going to need to look similar to what Denver will need to put around Peyton (ie run first) if they let Julius walk with little fight that says everything we need to know about him filling our need. A corner upgrade, a real rb and a LG upgrade may look like luxuries to a lot of people, but that's one of the few benefits of not having a franchise QB, we have an extra ~$16 mil to spend that teams with a franchise QB locked up do not. We need to use this "advantage" to the best of our abilities and load up with as many "luxury" moves as possible.
  20. The Browns look like they got a bad one with the 8th pick last year.
  21. Sign Revis (trade McKelvin), Demarco Murray (let Spiller walk) and Iupati (cut Chris Williams after June 1st). Take a TE in round 2. We go from paying lip service to being a run and defense team to having a chance at being the league's best run and defense team.
  22. Sign Revis & Pernell McPhee Resign Spikes & Searcy Let Hughes walk McPhee would fit better than Hughes and may likely cost less to sign. Revis would be a dramatic upgrade to the secondary, giving Gilmore a reprieve from having to take the other team's best wr and making us very deep at the position. I have concerns about Kiko's durability and allowing Brown to ease into the MLB 3-4 role would be a nice luxary with Spikes to plug in.
  23. I think he's a no doubter Top 3 passing yard games in Super Bowl History 2nd all time in Super Bowl passing yards 7th all time in playoff passing yards 6th all time in playoff passing TDs 2 time NFL MVP His run with the Cardinals at the end of his career puts him over the edge with me, he was almost as good then as his Rams run.
  24. I like piling on the Pats as much as the next guy, but it wasn't exactly rocket science figuring out to hit Marshall Faulk on every single play. For as good as Warner/Holt/Bruce were, Faulk was the engine that drove everything and the Pats effectively limited him as well as anyone had. I have a "sliver of a doubt" the Rams actually beat the Bucs in 2000 with the Bert Emmanuel catch game, curious Warner doesn't feel the need to ever mention that.
  25. Do you watch Wilson or ever watch Flutie? They never got hit, they take what is/was given them and got down right away. Johnny doesn't shy away from contact, which is insane for a guy his size. Cam is built like a tank and he's really started to show the impact of not getting down. Wilson/Flutie are on a whole different level than Manziel when it comes to football intelligence. Russell always makes the right decision, if you give him 5 yards he's taking 5 yards. Johnny always thinks about the big play. He got away with a lot in college because he had an NFL caliber line and Mike Evans going against severe mismatches. The Cams and Big Bens of the world get rocked when they play sandlot football, there's no way Johnny can hold up with his style. Simply put, Johnny doesn't get it. He skated by on athletic ability and being on a loaded team in college. He's clearly a kid whose always been able to talk his way out of any trouble, which is why he always says the right things, however actions trump words every time and his chronic lateness, complete lack of preparation when he got his chance and continued party lifestyle show he has no clue what it takes and isn't willing to put in the work. He doesn't have the fire in his belly to be great, he was born with a silver spoon and likely has already been rewarded handsomely with his brand potential. What's with the other "Brown" in the commercial who looks like he's about 55 years old. Snickers couldn't find a guy in his 20s to say 1 line?
