  1. "With the 12th pick in the 2015 draft the Cleveland Browns select Lebron James, WR from Akron St. Vincent - St. Mary's" Severe penalties = draft picks in my mind. Goodell loves to throw the book at teams, a 1st was the penalty in bounty gate and spy gate. We don't know the extent of the texts but it seems Shanahan holds bad blood for the org and would likely cooperate. If Farmer (or Haslam) was texting things about injures picked from broadcasts that's a bit beyond saying "Jimmy wants Johnny in the game". Per PFT "The Browns are bracing for a multi-game fine for GM Ray Farmer and the loss of one or more draft picks".
  2. Loss of a draft pick wouldnt shock me. That would be very interesting if the Browns lose pick #19 and after a year of crowing about the brilliance of trading Watkins they just get Gilbert for it.
  3. Plus one of those division games was an Andy Dalton in a primetime game softball. They had one win worth crowing about (the beatdown they put on the Steelers, who themselves were a Jekyll & Hyde team with losses to the Jets and Bucs) otherwise all of their wins were a result of awful teams choking games. If Pettine prevents a 3-13 season this year then he deserves a huge bump, but the way things are going they are in line for a sharp regression.
  4. Who will be the first linebacker to change their number to the 40s?
  5. I'm sure the Pats' wrists will be pretty sore after the NFL addresses this and deflategate.
  6. Didn't the Pats file tampering charges against Woody and the Jets over Revis a few months ago? I say just take away both of their 1st round picks.
  7. We would have been 11-5 / 12-4 with the Browns schedule last year.
  8. Mike McCarthy is not the 3rd best coach in football. Prisco is a hack.
  9. Taylor is the guy brought in to replace Tuel. Tuel will likely be a camp arm and little more. Given Cassel/Taylor were just recently brought in, it would seem any drafted QB would be knocking EJ out. Rex has spoken pretty positively about EJ lately. The way I see it, they are hoping one of Taylor/EJ win the job this summer to use their mobility with the "ground and pound", with Cassel's best case scenario being the wise vet in the film room and his worst case stepping in to do the job because EJ/Taylor don't do enough.
  10. I'm not disputing that. I've said I think Rivers is a good player. I just don't place him on the same level as Brady / Rodgers and think it's crazy to suggest 3 1st round picks or Dareus for him like some have. He's got 7 kids, he likes hunting and fishing, that could play very well with our current roster and the city, or he could follow Borland/Willis/Worilds and say "It's been real, but I want to be able to spend time of my family". Personally I'd be shocked if the Chargers moved him this year, although as has been touched on it wouldn't be the worst idea given their roster. As I've suggested previously, I'd be all over it if the price is right (our 2nd, a conditional pick next year and EJ to give them a young option). I'd also be surprised if they let him hit FA after this year, though I do believe we should be on his doorstep at 12:01 if that's the case. I guess I don't even understand the debate. Seems some people believe we should trade our next 3 drafts for him and some believe he's empty fluff, as with most message board arguments the truth lies somewhere in between.
  11. The "How many players would start for us?" is a dangerous game. How many Pats would start for us? How many Browns? I come close to the same number for each and they couldn't be further from each other.
  12. For a good chunk of his career he had Tomlinson, Michael Turner, Sproles, Gates & Vincent Jackson. He hasn't exactly been dragging Chris Hogan and Scott Chandler to the playoffs. Obviously the talent has fallen off sharply (basically since AJ Smith won his power play), but some of those mid-late '00s Chargers teams were easily among the most talented teams in the league. He's a great player, I've long been a fan, but I don't see him being worth 3 1st round picks like some people given his age and contract status. He's a family guy, given the current climate it wouldn't be shocking to see him hang it up in the next couple of seasons.
  13. Really seems Terry just gets it. He's involved, he lets the players know how he feels, but he's not like Haslam or Snyder who are going to force moves out of concern for the bottom line or misguided belief they know more than their GM. I could never imagine Terry whooping it up after the draft because they took the flashy QB and tell stories about how a homeless guy told him that's the pick.
  14. There seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding of Kelly. I would have thought this would go away when he paid both Murray and Mathews (along with Sproles). He used a 2nd round pick on Jordan Matthews last year. He's not going out there with CFL RBs and WRs, he moved on from Jackson/Shady/Maclin because they weren't what he envisioned in those positions and from reports, they weren't thrilled with his methods regarding tough Saturday practices. Chip is a complete 180 from Andy Reid, it can be very difficult for guys who've had success with one mindset to completely buy into changing to a different mindset. Chip Kelly isn't some genius that's going to get 1,500 yards out of 7th round WRs and RBs, he's bringing in his guys.
  15. This Some people are just clueless and need to stop playing the imaginary Madden game in their minds. We all love the Bills but the reality is we haven't been in the playoffs for 15 years and Buffalo isn't a destination. If we were desirable, we'd be lining up an oline of Glenn - Boling - Wood - Richie - Bulaga. The reality is we could not have signed Murray for the same contract the Eagles gave him or for McCoy's deal, just like we had to trade for Cassel (who wasn't pleased) instead of signing McCown and will have to draft a guard over Boling/Bulaga.
  16. Much rather have Woods than Kiko. Watkins-Woods-Harvin-Clay is some serious weaponry, but at the time we didn't have Harvin or Clay. If we had moved Woods and whiffed in FA, we would have needed to take a receiver in the 2nd or 3rd. We still look pretty solid at linebacker, especially if we resign Spikes. Wrong
  17. Completely different game from when Jim played and many believe Kelly shouldn't be in the HOF. Testeverde, Bledsoe and Kerry Collins have some pretty nice career statistics as well. 4 playoff wins in 11 years....
  18. I don't believe Rivers makes the HOF, I see him as only slightly above the Bledsoe/Testaverde level of QBs and no one is mentioning their name and HOF in the same sentence.
  19. EJ, our 2nd this year and a conditional pick next year (a 1st if we make the playoffs, a 3rd if we are drafting top 10, a 2nd if it's in between). Anything more is too much of an overpay for a guy who has never really had post season success despite being on some loaded teams and looked like he was in real trouble up until 2013. Dareus? Multiple 1sts? LOL, no.
  20. So far I think first-pick.com 's is way better.
  21. Doesn't like Tomlinson? There you go.
  22. It's always been a problem for him, it was a problem in Philly.
  23. There's a lot of stuff going around right now. Yesterday it came out the Buccaneers were open to trading #1. My working theory- the Bucs want to take Mariota, but don't want to do it at #1 and would rather get a bunch of picks for someone who wants Jameis, dropping down into the Redskins-Jets range and taking Mariota. The Titans are playing the "well we might take him" game in hopes to force the Bucs to take him at #1, opening themselves up to either Jameis or trading back into the 5-6 range. Outside of Leonard Williams (and Landon Collins but too high for a safety) no one is really heads and shoulders above their position in the first (outside of the QBs). The edge rushers (Fowler, Ray, Gregory) / WRs (White, Cooper, Parker) / Tackles (Scherff, Peat, Flowers, Collins) are "which one fits your system/eye of the beholder" types. If you decide you want one of the edge rushers/tackles/WRs it looks like a year to move back, accumulate all the picks you can and be the last one to take the premier guy out of whatever group you want.
  24. The officials are incompetent.
  25. Until I hear otherwise, I'm operating under the assumption the refs botched the pregame check, ESPN blew it out of proportion to drive ratings and the report will come out finding no wrong doing on the Pats part.
