An easy prediction - the Bills will draft multiple players from SEC or ACC schools 2nd - One of the linebackers (Anthony, McKinney, Dawson, Perryman, Kendricks) 3rd - O-Line Spend the rest of the picks on DL, pass rush project, DB & big WR/TE hybrid prospect Non Bills - Titans-Browns-Eagles 3 team trade, but not what people think: Browns - #2 pick (Mariota) Titans - Bradford, #12, #113 (Eagle's 4th rounder) Eagles - #19, Manziel Vikings - Jets trade, Vikings move up to get Cooper or White at #6, Jets move back and take Andrus Peat at #11.

Why wouldn't the Chargers just get something for Rivers now? The answer may lie in the fact their coaching staff is on the final year of their contract and the GM may be on shaky ground as well. With the looming move to LA, it would be pretty easy for the Chargers to just cut ties with the GM & McCoy and start over new in LA with new management and coaches if they have an awful year this year. They are much more likely to have that awful year with a rookie QB. Basically the ownership would need to tell management "It's fine if we take a step back this year, your job is safe." Also, the IN thing is dumb, maybe I'm missing something but it seems like little more than backseat modding and a lame attempt to up post counts.

What change would you make if you were commissioner?
Chuck Wagon replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1) Every team gets 1 Thursday night and 1 Monday night game. Sunday night games are truly the "game of the week". Outside of a team earning it's spot on SNF every team gets one prime time home game. 2) Every team plays a neutral site game (like the London or Toronto games), alternating losing a home game every other year. Use this as a way to bring games to markets without teams (Mexico City, London, Toronto) or play in historic college stadiums (a Browns or Bengals game in the horseshoe, a Saints game at LSU, a Jags game in Gainesville, a Lions game at UM). -
ESPN Insider? Kiper/McShay 3rd Mock
Chuck Wagon replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We could have had Bernardrick McKinney in the 2nd and Brett Hundley in the 3rd in their mock. Instead they gave us a DE/OLB and said that's a big need. Marpet looks like a good prospect, but I'm curious how much of the board's interest is driven from his school. If he went to New Mexico St would he still be at the top of so many people's wish list? -
Latest draft trade rumor Phil-Cleveland-Tenn
Chuck Wagon replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We already traded our Michael Kendricks and our #19 pick, no one wants our Sam Bradford and no to trading our Fletcher Cox. -
I'm all on board with McKinney. McShay and Kiper did a joint mock for 3 rounds, had us taking Grayson in the 2nd and Marcus Golden (DE/OLB) in the 3rd. I find it interesting all the national writers rip on our oline as why our ground & pound won't work, then none of them mock us available olinemen. However, the national guys always miss the Bills pick and usually just take the lazy approach with them in mocks.

Latest draft trade rumor Phil-Cleveland-Tenn

I'd want to see if he could make it out of the preseason without tearing his ACL for a 4th time. -
Latest draft trade rumor Phil-Cleveland-Tenn
Chuck Wagon replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It would certainly fit in Philly's desire to "not mortgage the future" by not giving up multiple future 1sts. The Browns sure want Bradford badly, giving up a 1st for him then immediately handing him a big contract seems like a pretty steep price. Linebacker has been a huge need for the Titans for a while, especially with them going to more of a 3-4 look. Honestly I don't believe any rumors right now, especially from some guy writing for NJ.com, seems like a convenient way to drive traffic to your site. -
Shane Ray has foot issue; update- cited for marijuana
Chuck Wagon replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ray does have a Maybin feel, granted he was stuck behind Sam & Kony Ealy in 2013, but he really only had 1 good year. Also hated his ejection for a clear cheap shot on Blake Sims early in the SEC title game. -

That reminds me of when they actually played football on Sundays. Now that hit is an automatic 15 yard penalty if not an ejection. -
Glad we don't have a 1st round pick
Chuck Wagon replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would feel better about having the 9th pick this year than I did last year. Last year at #9 we were talking about Ebron, ODB (who turned out way better than anyone thought) and some slight mention of Zach Martin (who also turned out better than people thought). All 3 of those guys felt like a reach at #9 heading into the draft. This year there's Winston, Mariota, Cooper, White, Fowler, Leonard Williams, Scherff as a pretty clear top 7 in my mind with guys like DeVante Parker, Trae Waynes, Vic Beasley, Danny Shelton or Gurley who could deserve consideration in that mix. On a semi related note, does anyone else feel like teams are keeping things a little closer to the chest this year than they did last year? Maybe it was the extra time before the draft, but last year less than a week out it seemed everyone knew the Texans were going Clowney, the Rams were going Robinson, the Jags were a mystery (a lot had them going Mack), but the Bucs had pretty much said they were taking Evans. -
Glad we don't have a 1st round pick
Chuck Wagon replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we had Ebron instead of Watkins, I think we lose the Minny and Detroit games, putting us at 7-9, if we did have our pick and had clinched a losing record, we might have tanked the Pats game as well. I'd gladly trade Ebron and 19 for Sammy. If we are talking about Ebron and Amari Cooper / Kevin White / DeVante Parker / Brandon Scherff it gets a bit dicier. I have complete faith in the Browns ability to use the picks to make it look like the Julio Jones trade 2.0. -
MMQB: NFL team ranks last 5 yrs of QB draft evaluation
Chuck Wagon replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Buddy publicly said he'd take Cam at #3 before it was popular to put him up top. He got roasted for it nationally. Then Cam went 1st and turned out good, but no one ever said "You were right Buddy". I'm not sure how much it confirms because it doesn't say what round the players were actually graded at by this team. Given that MMQB says this team has been in the QB market and Bridgewater nearly went in round 2, I don't think it's too big of an assumption to say they graded everyone at Bridgewater or below to be 2nd round talent. I would be interested in 1) seeing what round these players were graded out as and 2) adding in 2nd round guys like Kaepernick and Dalton to the assessment. -
Honestly at this point it just feels nice to have young guys worth talking about giving big money and actually spending up to the cap. For so long we were stuck in the cycle of blowing our pick, paying that guy anyway because there wasn't anyone better, signing the D List FAs for above market value and leaving $10 mil of unspent cap space.

Admittedly I'm not going to click on Rodak's article, but does anyone else get the vibe he tries really hard to spin every positive into a negative. There not being salary cap room for guys like Freddie, Lawson or McKelvin is not a negative thing if the money is going to perennial Pro Bowlers. (If he didn't take this spin, I apologize for my ignorance, but I'm just done with him always taking the glass half empty approach with this franchise and the only way he's going away is if we don't click).

It's part of the life cycle of team building. When Buddy and Whaley came in our talent level was among the very worst in the league. We didn't have players worth what guys like Mario, McCoy, Kyle, Dareus or Gilmore are worth, so the first step was getting our talent up to par which necessitated feasting on the middle class good teams can't afford to retain. Now that we have hit on draft picks and are building our core, we'll hopefully have guys good enough to cover for young guys in other spots. Teams like the Packers and Pats don't have the mid level guys like Lawson on their roster. They've built their talent base up to the point they are able to identify the guys in house worth keeping, spend their money on maintaining that core then keep churning the bottom of the roster with fresh (cheap) young guys. It's a huge benefit of not having your hand forced to fill needs through the draft and instead using the BPA approach. When you are paying a QB as much as the contenders are paying them, you are going to lose that middle class. The only "good" team that's consistently making splashes through FA or by trade is the Seahawks, who are still enjoying the benefits of Wilson's rookie deal.

I'm not sure we'd be allowed to have prime Bledsoe since that wasn't a Bill, but if you took Drew's best Bills season it's pretty much right on line with what Orton would have posted last year if his stats carried through to 16 games. Orton's QB rating last year was higher than any season Bledsoe posted in his entire career, which either shows how much the game has changed or that Bledsoe was more than a bit overrated.

MMQB: NFL team ranks last 5 yrs of QB draft evaluation
Chuck Wagon replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think it's Jax, they were over the moon for Bortles. Weren't the Bills really high on Ponder? Wasn't that part of the reason Minny took him when they did? A team that's been in the QB market and they placed RG3 over Cam? Does feel like Washington (though King says they aren't in on Mariota or Winston and Wash has been linked to Mariota). -

At least we aren't the Browns. Interesting to hear Landon Collins doesn't seem to be the slam dunk 1st rounder he's been projected as, if there's one guy I'd love to fall to #50 it might be him. -
Umm Bruce Smith? Put him on this defensive line, use Hughes as a rush OLB/backup DE. Just nasty.

Chuck Wagon replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Billy Joe not knowing the playbook was classic I still kind of hate Mike Williams (the tackle) for busting out so badly. I also hate JP Losman because I look at him as costing us Roethlisberger (not using that first to move up to get Ben), Demarcus Ware (taken with the traded pick) and Aaron Rodgers (went after our pick). Losman might be my most hated Bill of the last 2 decades, just because I was soo sold on Roethlisberger (and turned out right) and what we lost by making that move. -
I agree, but I'm also of the mindset that I need to see Percy fully buy in to not having the offense run through him and Shady show there's still plenty of gas in the tank before I fully believe in our potential. Everyone is happy and says the right things as the ink is drying on their contracts, but what happens the first time Percy gets 2 targets in a game or if the box is stacked for Shady and Henderson or others are getting their lunch handed to them?

Cowboys last year were the first team to come to my mind Dez >>> Sammy Woods > Terrance Williams Witten > Clay McCoy >= Demarco (depends on health & team style) Harvin > Beasley/Escobar (Personally Harvin scares me, boom or bust guy) Bengals (If counting Gio Bernard over their 3rd WR - Green / Hill / Bernard / Eifert / Jones or Sanu (their weak spot)) Steelers (Antonio / Bell / Wheaton / Bryant (I'm a big Bryant fan) / Heath Miller (on the downside now)) Bears (Marshall / Jeffery / Forte / Bennett / Marquess Wilson (their weak spot though he could shock some people this year))

If he's not ready to go you put him on IR-designated return If he or Gregory are there at 50 then you take them. Given the way this class stacks up, I really don't expect there to be much difference between the guy who goes #19 and the guys available at #50, unless one of the top ~12 prospects fall to 19.
