Good look at Wham blocking scheme used by Roman in SF

I could watch Zeke Elliott torch Oregon & Bama on an endless loop for the rest of my life and die a happy man. -
Brady to be SUSPENDED next week according to report
Chuck Wagon replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Benjarvus Green-Ellis - With Pats (2008 - 2011) - 510 carries - 0 fumbles With Bengals (2012-2013) - 498 carries - 5 fumbles Legarrette Blount - With Pats - 213 carries - 3 fumbles (1.41% rate) With other teams - 491 carries - 10 fumbles (2.04% rate) I'm not a math major so I don't know if there's anything to be taken from that, but I found it interesting. -
Pats** CB situation is confusing
Chuck Wagon replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How many Super Bowl have they won when they haven't had guys like Revis, Ty Law and Asante Samuel at CB? -
I don't see much difference between a 4 or 2 game suspension for Brady. Week 3 they play the Jags, likely a win either way, their 4th game is at the Cowboys with the Pats coming off their bye, a winnable game with Jimmy (unless he's just awful) or a losable game with Brady. Bottom line is we have to capitalize in week 2. I imagine the Pats will get their '17 4th round pick back in the appeal, but them losing a 1st for Brady and "the Deflator" taking air out of balls is fantastic. Even the Pats win when they lose: Schefter just said with the 4 game suspension to Brady they save $2 mil in salary, so they make ~$1 mil after their $1 mil fine.

Prediction Time! What Will Tom Brady's Punishment Be?
Chuck Wagon replied to Dorkington's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As long as it's 2 games, I'm not going to complain too much. They'll win their 3rd game (vs Jacksonville) regardless of Tom or Jimmy playing. Their 4th game is vs Dallas, which goes from probably win to probably lose without Tom but no sure thing either way. Week 1 is almost a sure win with Brady given the defending champs history in the Thursday opener, putting Jimmy in there makes it a tough spot. Week 2 without Tom would be huge for us getting off on the right foot. -
I enjoy PFF's work but I always take it with a hefty dose of salt. I remember reading about how Evan Mathis publicly told him he liked their site and his grades shot up after that. I've heard respected people rave about their work and other respected people say it's fluff as they don't really know guys responsibilities on plays. Given our standing in the league, it's tough to take National guys work on us too seriously. We haven't appeared much on national tv so guys aren't doing a lot of homework to talk about us in that platform. We aren't a glamor team, so I'd have to imagine guys like PFF are only popping in Bills tape after hours of watching other team's tape. Obviously our line is a bit of a concern, but there's so much unknown with putting new pieces in, getting new coaching and running a new scheme. Anyone who says they definitively know how guys like Henderson or Kouandjio will do or how Glenn will come along after having improved health is kidding themselves.

Brady to be SUSPENDED next week according to report
Chuck Wagon replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought the same thing. "The NFL has suspended Tom Brady from all team activities for the month of May" I bet 4 games. That gives them 2 potential wins with the Steelers in the lions den week 1 and the Jags week 3 then puts him back right in time for Pats-Colts on prime time. -

Really enforces how much of a minefield it is to get a healthy team even to week 1. Everyone takes hitting week 1 healthy for granted, all it takes is one wrong step to dramatically alter the picture. -
I'm embarrassing myself? You've provided nothing concrete to back up your stance and answered nothing I've asked of you. I've cited advanced metrics in the running game (which ranks him as the best in the league) and on his deep ball (which puts him top 5). Of course the Seahawks don't make it to the Super Bowl without the D or the running game, but it's pretty hard to argue Russell on the zone read isn't a huge part of their success in the running game and Brady hadn't won the Super Bowl in a decade until Revis/Browner came to town, Brees hasn't even made the playoffs 2 of the past 3 years with an awful defense.
-
Dalton/Cutler/Kaep have established the baseline for a starting QB salary. Wilson is better than all 3. You failed to answer my question about the Seahawks running game being nearly as good with Kyle Orton at QB and yet you said that's the basis for their success. False equivalency? Do you think Marshawn is clearly better than Peterson/Foster? The Vikings/Texans weren't getting competent QB play out of Ponder/Schaub at the end, much less at the level of Wilson. Do you think the Seahawks would be better off letting Wilson walk and keeping everyone else intact? Aren't we trying to build the same thing as the Seahawks? Do you feel comfortable that we are about to win a Super Bowl and go to 3 straight AFC title games with Taylor/EJ/Cassel at QB? I'm comfortable in my stance the Seahawks will be able to keep the ball rolling as long as Carroll/Wilson are together. You disagree. Nothing I say is going to change the mind of someone who clearly has watched very little of Wilson play yet remains firm in their stance.
-
I'm simply echoing others who say he's not on Peyton's level. The Broncos are paying Peyton plenty of money this year and they aren't getting the 27 year old version. Do you think Wilson is worse than Dalton, or Cutler or Kaepernick? All of those 3 are getting paid very well. To say Wilson is simply a product of his running game and defense is uneducated and flat out wrong. If a strong running game was all a QB needed, one would think Christian Ponder and Matt Schaub would still be getting paid handsomely. Wilson is making plays in the NFC title game and the Super Bowl throwing to Doug Baldwin and Ricardo Lockette, there's a bunch of QBs in the league doing less with more than he is.
-
Wilson played his worst game of his career the first 3 quarters of that game. He tore it up the 4th quarter. It's pretty clear most people here don't watch many Seahawks games. Do you think their running game would be near as effective if they had Kyle Orton running the zone read with Marshawn? Or they would have been in the past two Super Bowls with Andy Dalton at QB? People said Tom Brady was a product of his defense for years, until they realized how good he was, Wilson is the same thing. I can't believe anyone who actually watched the 2nd half of Peyton's season last year and the 2nd half of Wilson's would think they clearly aren't on the same level.

Absolutely right. No one cares if Mel Kiper was right about anything, it's just on to the next thing. They are glorified weathermen. If the weatherman said it's going to be sunny and it rains, you'll be annoyed with him, but the next day you forget about it and see what he has to say all over again.

I think you misread what I said. I said I personally liked EJ the best out of any QB, never that he is the best out of any of them. The jury is still out on him (and Glennon).

Mike Rodak talking Bills on Sirius NFL Radio...
Chuck Wagon replied to CountryCletus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As a Buckeyes fan & a Bills fan, I frequently feel like ESPN has decided to troll me personally. I absolutely believe they purposely troll the rabid fanbases to drive clicks while blowing smoke up the more casual ones. Trev Alberts played the exact same role Mark May does when it comes to the Buckeyes, he never said one positive thing about the team, then he got himself fired and immediately Mark May filled the role. You know a guy has crossed the trolling line when you've got Zeke Elliot right on top of you daring you to say something negative after winning the national title. If you care deeply, you are much more likely to tell your friends about an article ripping the team than the alternative. By the inverse, if you don't care all that much, you are much more likely to gravitate towards positive output. They clearly aren't going to rip the Patriots/Seahawks of the world otherwise it looks like they are actively trying to look like idiots. The thing that surprised me about Rodak's latest work with Shady was how Shady shared a car with him and opened up about things that may best left be unsaid. Maybe McCoy put too much trust in him not running everything he said, I don't know that a normal beat reporter is going to run Shady calling Chip Kelly a racist, but it does appear Rodak is edging his way into the team. I also think the times I've caught Rodak on the radio he's much more positive about the team than the standard vibe he takes with written work. I don't know if it would come off as awkward to air a "Bills beat reporter" ripping on the team or if he's gotten the command to generate negative clickbait. -
The running game/defense wasn't making those throws down the field that beat the Packers in OT. Given his targets are a bunch of 6'0" guys who weren't drafted, I'd say Wilson is doing pretty well. I think it this a pretty outdated take on Wilson. The dude is extremely smart on the field, he almost always makes the right decision (except for 1 throw in the Super Bowl), if you give him 5 yards, he'll take 5 yards instead of trying to turn it into 20. By most any advanced metric he's the best runner as a QB in the league and he avoids the kill shots Cam takes head on. He throws a very nice deep ball, ranking very high in deep ball % and is a killer on 3rd down. If Taylor (or EJ) were to give us 80% of Wilson this year, we'd cruise to the division championship.

That's the real question. What if Brady gets Brady'd by Garappolo? What if Brady is suspended for 8+ games and Jimmy straight rips it up (with one bad game in week 2 of course). I doubt Jimmy would be fine just going back to the bench for several more seasons of clip board carrying after an extended period of success. You beat me to it!

I was annoyed with the Darby pick, but I understand why Doug did it. The only pick that Whaley had a hand in that legitimately made me angry was TJ Graham over Russell Wilson. I liked EJ the best out of any QB in that class, wasn't in love with him, but we were able to move down and get a year of Kiko/now Shady out of it. Notable players drafted since 2011: 2011 - Dareus, Aaron Williams, Sheppard (traded for Hughes), Searcy / 2012 - Gilmore , Glenn , Bradham / 2013 - Woods , Kiko (traded for Shady) / 2014 - Watkins , Brown Obviously still some question marks in the newer drafts that may still come through. One thing that sticks out is how we've done terrible in the later rounds, but the standard for a successful class is viewed as getting 3 good starters and Whaley has pretty much hit right on that mark. Our later round track record is kind of concerning, obviously there's a lot of wildcards getting taken but we haven't really found one real quality starter after the 4th round in the last 5 years. The "experts" have consistently graded our classes poorly while some bad classes from "good" teams have been graded well. As others have mentioned, it's just like preseason predictions, we aren't getting a high score unless we start winning consistently.

Naked pictures of Wes Welker and Julian Edelman, you know, for "comparison" purposes.

He tried. Bulaga and Boling took less than we were offering to stay with their teams, Collins screwed up the draft market for olinemen and everyone went off the board sooner than expected (outside of Fisher and Cann, who I still think we should have taken at 50 and who may not be better than Kouandjio/Henderson and Miller/Richardson). We tried to land Collins. I don't think it's Whaley's fault our oline isn't - Glenn / Boling / Wood / Collins / Bulaga At this point, given the effort that was clearly displayed, complaining about not firmly upgrading the oline is a bit like complaining about not adding a franchise QB. You try to do the best with the hand you are dealt. We have some young players who've showed promise. There will be growing pains, but you never find out if a guy can play if he's never given a shot.

La'El Collins signs with the Cowboys
Chuck Wagon replied to SBUffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jerruh probably told him he'd be starting from Day 1. Since he's not coming to Buffalo, clearly he's not a bright kid , once the ink is dry he's the Cowboys and they'll do what they want.
