Surprise cuts around the league
Chuck Wagon replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He averaged 3.6 ypc his rookie year, they just kept feeding him. There's just no explosion in his game, if you can't make anyone miss or run away from anyone you aren't long for the league, it's true for big guys too. -

Imagine if you put Hughes and someone like Jason Verrett or Joel Bitonio on that team. -
Browns seem done with Johnny Manziel; enters rehab
Chuck Wagon replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not 100% convinced Johnny's legitimately hurt enough to miss Saturday's game. I've been forced to follow the Browns more than I'd like this offseason (I went to the OSU scrimmage, watched them vs the Bills, etc) and from my POV there's no reason to play McCown over Johnny given the play the two have displayed. I could see them shutting Johnny down as a "precaution" to avoid McCown stinking up the Tampa game for 3 quarters and Johnny riding in and moving the ball against the backups. While we've been wandering in the wilderness for a long time as Bills fans, at least we know what Whaley-Rex are trying to do (a dominant defense + legitimate playmakers). The Browns appear to be stuck in the '70s with a defense that's not nearly as good as it's hyped to be and giving the ball to guys off the scrap heap. -
I'm firmly in Tyrod's camp. His speed from the position is game changing and I want him playing as much as possible to continue to gain a comfort level and more polish. He reminded me of Wilson in that he seemed smart enough to get what he could then get on the ground, unlike a guy like Cam (who runs like a fullback) / RG3 (who was always trying to break a play before his injury) / EJ (not shying from contact caused a lot of missed time his rookie year). I like Cassel as the backup, if Tyrod is running around it's inevitable he'll take a shot at some time or may just be gassed, in that instance I like plugging Cassel in to bring a steady hand.

good stat comment by Andy Benoit at MMQB

But the end result was the same as if the catch was made, you still advance the ball 50 yards and get a first down. -

I've long thought pass interference yards should count as passing yards. If Stafford launches a 50 yard bomb to Megatron and the DB just wraps him up, how is that not yards for Stafford and Calvin? -
Falcons discuss bringing back dog killer
Chuck Wagon replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because it's August and because we are viewed as a laughing stock nationally. If the Seahawks claimed him everyone would say "Brilliant, landing a guy who'll surely turn around in their culture" Bills claim him and it's "lol, Rex going to Rex, how long until he knocks out EJ?" Sports "comedians"/snarks love the low hanging fruit. -
Stupid, but honest question - QB Throws
Chuck Wagon replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember watching an ESPN special segment leading up to college football kickoff from 2010. They had a group of Pac 10 QBs (Luck, Locker, Darron Thomas, Osweiler, Foles, Barkley) and wanted the guys to hit a helmet ~25 yards away. Everyone went and all the guys needed multiple throws to hit the target and either Thomas or Locker (don't recall for sure which one) did embarrassingly bad. Then Luck stepped up, first throw drilled the helmet no problem. -
Interesting look on Bills 2015 season

The problem is there's not a "Andrew Luck" (or even a "Jameis Winston") in this draft class. This is another one of those QB classes like 2013 where the 4th guy picked might be the best guy. -

I do have to wonder if we've started to reach a point of diminishing returns with the 3 QB rotation during practice. Most of the teams with established guys are giving the vast majority of snaps to their #1 guy to allow him to build a rapport with the receivers and line, while the backup QBs are watching from the sideline and getting spare reps. By rotating through 3 guys, we are essentially giving whoever is going to be the #1 guy 1/3rd of the practice time the top guys are getting elsewhere. -

I have trouble seeing more than 10-11 wins, but anyone thinking this team is going 3-13 is just an idiot. -
Is Steve Smith a hall of famer?
Chuck Wagon replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's going to be close. There's a huge log jam of WRs right now and TO, Randy Moss, Marvin Harrison and Isaac Bruce are all in front of him. He'll need 743 yards to crack the top 10- Andre Johnson is just over 300 yards in front of him and looks to crack the top 10 before him. Henry Ellard was 3rd in career receiving yards in 1998 (when he retired) and still sits at 11, there's hardly any push to put him in the hall. -
Crystal Ball: Top Prospects for 2016 NFL Draft
Chuck Wagon replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No one is saying Cardale is the next Andrew Luck, but his body and arm talent are clearly NFL level. Pretty sure everyone has said they need to see more to make him a sure 1st rounder. You come flying in saying everyone is sleeping on Cody Kessler when he's been mentioned by several people previously and everyone is overrating Cardale calling him a sure 1st rounder when most everyone has said they need to see more. -

I'm going to go ahead and assume you watched very little of OSU last year. Why do you think Zeke's 3 best games were the ones Cardale started, against the 3 toughest teams the Buckeyes played? Everyone admits Cardale is raw and needs more playing time, but to deny his arm talent or size, or to just shrug him off as a product of Elliott playing well is just ignorant. -
Out of Town Bills Fans

That's a perfect description of about 85% of the Bengals fans I know in Columbus. It's almost reversed when it comes to the Reds-Indians. -

I'm not going to lie, I got 10 of the free tickets. I did 4 right away, then put in 6 more just to see if they would give them to me and they did. Right now I'm planning on going with 1 buddy, either wearing a Bills or Buckeyes jersey and burning 8 tickets. I should probably try to sell them on stubhub, but I'm not quite sure how to do that and I'd rather account for 8 empty seats. Several of my other friends got tickets, they all did the 6 option, there's going to be plenty of empty space based upon how they released them. -

The radio here a couple of weeks ago talked about some demographics study that was done on Columbus rooting interests. It was something like ~60% Browns fans / ~30% Bengals fans / ~10% fans of other teams. -

The Brownsness of Columbus drives me nuts. Almost equal distance to the East you've got one of the winningest franchises ever in the Steelers, to the West almost equal distance you just saw one of the greatest QBs ever for the last 15 years with another immediately taking over on the Colts and all anyone wants to talk about is if Terrell Pryor can play WR. -

I like our group better than San Fran's. Philly's seems really high. -
2015 surprise Fantasy Stud/Fantasy Dud
Chuck Wagon replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know he's going to get fed, just a bit pessimistic on him holding up. -
I also saw him in high school, simply an unbelievable athlete. I remember the team I saw him against basically gameplanned to not allow a home run and there were several plays he almost ran a straight line from the backfield to out of bounds a yard past the first down marker without being touched.
