  1. Maybin's college productivity blew Floyd's away. I watched several Georgia games this fall and the announcers would make mention about Floyd just disappearing every game.
  2. The problem is Hardy thinks he did stay out of trouble last year and deserves the big money deal now.
  3. It's still very early, but currently it looks like last years draft class was a bit of a dud, especially outside of the top 10. Marcus Peters went #18, right before our pick, Lockett made the Pro Bowl as a returner, but very few if any guys stand out between 19 and our pick in the 2nd round that I'd rather have over Darby. ODB is obviously the elephant in the room on this question, unavoidable to discuss in review, but Watkins for Justin Gilbert / Cam Erving might go down as one of the most lopsided draft deals in recent history.
  4. I like it. I think you'll see more 2 point plays moving forward, especially from teams with shaky kickers. Now teams have had a full season of play plus a full offseason with the rule, I expect some creative 2 point plays to be cooked up.
  5. If you are "moneyballing" the NFL, wouldn't that put a major emphasis on QB? Wouldn't the analytical play be to sign RG3, draft Wentz or Goff, then take someone like Cook-Hackenberg-Cardale in round 3-4 and perhaps even a guy like Doughty or Kessler in round 7?
  6. The only thing that bothers me is how Mario is supposedly so motivated. What the heck did we ever do to the guy? We gave him one of the biggest deals in FA history and he had one year in a system that he fit poorly in, most of the year he put a huge postage stamp on and mailed in without even trying to make it work. Now he's acting like we forced him to carry all the pads and serve as a water boy. Hogan could have a nice year as he fits what NE wants to do, but imo Woods is a similar receiver, both are more possession/slot type guys and Woods is simply better. We need a big vertical threat outside, which isn't Hogan. Urbik is a backup, he's a solid guy to have on the team but isn't moving the needle. Kiko looked really bad last year and is about 2.5 seasons removed from the guy who exploded on the scene for us.
  7. Best - Jalen Ramsey Bust - Shaq Lawson Sleeper - Joshua Perry I don't see how a guy projected to go top 45 qualifies as a sleeper unless you think he's going to be the best guy in the draft and will get picked outside of the top 10.
  8. Clady has been hurt several seasons in a row. It's not happening, he won't renegotiate to stay with Denver he isn't doing it here. That being said, Clady is not suited to RT, he's a finesse player while Cordy has 30 lbs on him and could shift of RT easier. The people saying they'd put Clady at RT have less of a clue what they are talking about than I do.
  9. I'd trade for Clady and start Glenn at RT.
  10. It's been nearly 20 years since the Bills had a QB anywhere near the level Tyrod showed last year as his first year as a starter. Sure, there's a chance we've seen the best from him and he's always going to be an injury risk, but I don't know how any fan could live with themselves if we prematurely cut the cord for a draft pick and Taylor becomes a perennial Pro Bowler.
  11. Spruce returned 10 punts last year for 61 yards.....
  12. Bust - Derrick Henry - Watching him against Florida-MSU-Clemson, he got stopped for no gain often but eventually would break a big run that helped his average. They used Yeldon - Drake almost exclusively in the passing game the last couple of years. I think he's going to end up taking a lot of shots that will add up quickly. Sleeper - D'haquille Williams - Has some major red flags and may not even get drafted, but when the guy was actually able to get onto the field he looked the part of a NFL WR. Desmond King is such a sleeper he didn't even enter the draft.
  13. I'm willing to accept the belief we don't have the right players to execute Rex's scheme. My concern is we also aren't adding players to fit his scheme. We used our 1st pick last year on a corner to help play it, but we did not sign anyone last year who could help transition to a 3-4, and aren't likely to sign anyone of substance this year. It seems the people who gave him a pass last year will also be forced to give him a pass this year if we don't show improvement, that puts him into year 3 before we can supposedly accurately judge him. In my opinion, Rex should have recognized the good thing he had in Schwartz and his defense and left that in place. A good coach is able to adapt to his talent and scheme for them to succeed. A bad coach runs his principles regardless of talent and throws his hands up at not having players that fit.
  14. Lack of good young QBs? Jameis - polished passing prospect, would be the #1 pick in almost any non-Luck draft, the only real concern are some character flags, though a lot of it can be brushed off as immaturity and hearsay. Mariota - Aces the character concerns of Jameis, but some questions about the scheme he played in during college. Still showed so flashes on a very bad team. Bortles - Really started to come around at the end of the year, again was put into a situation without a lot of talent but there's plenty of reasons for optimism. Derrick Carr - Might sound ridiculous to say, but I think he likely would have gotten drafted higher had his brother not been a flameout as a #1 pick. Oakland is certainly optimistic about his future. Bridgewater - A pretty polished prospect in his own right, there were some concerns with his arm strength coming out, but he's put Minnesota into the playoffs and won their division last year. Russell Wilson - Concerns about his size caused him to drop down the board, but he's certainly put those aside. Luck - Is Luck. That's 7 franchises that feel they've found their QB of the present and future in the last 3 drafts. It also doesn't count guys like Cousins, who was also in Luck's class. Even in the vaunted 1983 draft, half the QBs in the first round were complete busts. There were 3 HOF QBs and everyone talks about that draft like each team got a Pro Bowl QB out of it. Teams really like Wentz and Goff, that's why the knocks on them are things like "Played at a small school" and "has small hands", no one wants to come out and say "we really like this kid" over a month before the draft, especially when the 1st pick is readily available.
  15. Atlanta forfeited a 5th round pick for piping in crowd noise, the Rams used a 5th for the supplemental draft.
  16. The plan was to make the playoffs last year so we didn't care about losing 1/5th of our roster depth.
  17. Seems like the market is resetting a bit now. Teams that had money and specific targets spent it. Now the guys that are left have a period to realize they aren't getting the big dollars before the values start coming.
  18. Brilliant! Plus Tebow for short yardage.
  19. Maybe it's part of the master plan. They still have Pryor and Manziel. RG3 is available. Trade for Kaep and put all 4 on the field at the same time. ANYONE CAN RUN OR THROW! #moneyball.
  20. The Broncos and Browns are in a weird spot. Even though the Browns have higher picks, the Broncos can still trump them while basically giving up the same value. I'd be shocked if the Browns gave up the 32nd pick for him, but then again, nothing the Browns do will shock me. Elway and York have a strong relationship and I think that wins the day in the end.
  21. If Kaepnerick operates solely as a glorified wildcat QB who throws 10 passes a game it'll be an upgrade on the QB play the Broncos got for a large portion of last year. Kubiak wants an offense that relies heavily on bootlegs and rollouts, Peyton (and even Osweiler) could not come close to operating that style while Kaep fits it to a T. As for why the Browns want him? I've long quit trying to assign logic to anything the Browns do, but I'd be very surprised if the reportedly extremely conservative front office there offers anything close to what the Broncos would give up.
  22. I know guys who have spent plenty of time in NFL locker rooms and they have spent time around Richie. They all say he's a good guy who means well, he's just the type of guy who doesn't know when he's crossed a line. I think we've all probably experienced people like that and they can become very difficult to deal with day after day.
  23. Well, we can get the ball to Sammy all year instead of just the 2nd half of the year, Tyrod can improve, Shady can have a much better year, the oline can play better with more time to gel, we can get more pressure on the QB and our secondary can get better with a year under Rex's system and we can be healthier as a team. Or we can get decimated with injuries, Shady can show he's over the hill, Tyrod can show he's a 1 year wonder and the defense can be a Rob Ryan special. If there's any team in the league that can go anywhere from 13-3 to 3-13, it's this one.
