Cleveland Heavily After Tyrod Taylor.
Chuck Wagon replied to KevinMassare's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Every thing I've read and heard is this free agent period is setting up to blow people away with mediocre to good players getting paid like great players. If Mike Glennon is getting more than Tyrod, is his option still so bad? Especially for a team like Cleveland who would likely be low on Tyrod's preferred list of teams anyway, it might be the only opportunity for them to add a proven talent at a somewhat reasonable deal. -

Honestly it wouldn't shock me at all to see the Browns go QB at 1. I could easily see the Browns saying they'll be able to add impact players at other positions from picks 12 / 33 / 52 / 65 so they may not risk not getting their guy by waiting till 12. It also wouldn't surprise me if there's a segment of their brain trust kicking themselves for not taking Wentz, which could be a factor.

McDermotts and Frazier's Defense
Chuck Wagon replied to Buffalo716's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I fully expect AJ Klein will be a primary target in FA to plug into the middle as a guy who knows the scheme. I think Zach Brown is going to get a lot more money than people realize, there's SOOO much money available to be spent this year and he's the best linebacker by far. Gilmore is definitely gone, I could see a cheap FA brought in to replace him or taking Lattimore or Sidney Jones at #10 because that's the type of stuff DW does. I appreciate all Graham and A. Williams bring to the team, but I wish we would have moved on from them, tagged Gilmore, signed Tony Jefferson (though he's going to get PAID too) and take Hooker at 10. Very fluid at the top this year. 4 DL who could be in consideration for top 10, the QBs seem to be predictably shooting up, the two WRs, Foster, and Lattimore/Hooker/Adams maybe Sidney Jones too. The BPA out of any of those spots could likely be a solid pick for us. -
Per Carucci, Bills now leaning toward cutting Taylor
Chuck Wagon replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well the guy I really like is Mahomes, with Mahomes and Cardale fighting it out I don't imagine we go with old noodle arm for long. My only point with Siemian is if he comes CHEAP because the Broncos land Romo to go with Lynch, having a guy who knows Dennison's offense could be beneficial in camp and in the QB room, ideally one of the two young guys passes him by when the season starts. -
This is the top thing that annoys me with draft talk. Yes EVERYONE would love to drop down 10 picks and pick up an extra 2nd or a 1st next year. Last weekend I caught the guys on Fox Radio going through the top 5 teams, it's the weekend team so it comes with a massive grain of salt, but their plan A for each of the top 5 teams was trading back. Ridiculous.

Trade Tyrod for a 3rd or 4th Trade a 5th for Siemian Take BPA at 10 Trade the 3rd/4th from TT and our 2nd to get back into the end of the first round ahead of Cleveland - 49ers - Bears - Jets and land one of Trub / Watson / Kizer / Mahomes. Siemian as the potential bridge who knows Dennison's O with Cardale and the rookie fight it out, if one of them passes by Siemian go with them. -

I can't wait till we cut Tyrod for nothing in a crazy QB market, then trade a 2nd round pick for Siemian. -

Bucs offer Glennon over 7m/year to be backup QB
Chuck Wagon replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I could see the Jets and Bears getting into an idiotic bidding war for him, rivaling Osweiler's deal and making Tyrod's deal look very good by comparison. -
Very interesting "Tyrod/Trade/Option" article

Glennon signed? -
The problem is Whaley is on record as saying he's trying to build the team around the leaguewide QB - WR - LT - Pass Rusher - Corner model, which is fine, but if that's the way you are doing it you can't drop $12 mil on 2 safeties who can't play 16 games between them, or $9 mil on a running back, or $9 mil on a TE who isn't a real TE.

Kyle Williams, Aaron Williams, Corey Graham, Tyrod are in make it or break it seasons, all of which could provide significant cap room by moving on and none of them (outside of Tyrod potentially) look to be long in Buffalo. Shady could break down at any moment. Lorax was a career special teamer who had a great season in a defense we no longer play, he's 34 and wants a contract reflecting his career season, one he's not likely to replicate. Gilmore is 26 (27 when the season starts) and should be productive for the life of a 4 or 5 year deal, several people suggest using a high draft pick to replace him. Tony Jefferson is going to be an extremely hot commodity and we are not likely to be high on his list unless we pay for that privilege. Who is the one with a short sighted thought process?
-
But we aren't playing Madden. Every team is in the corner market and we are not a destination. We had options to tag and retain Gilmore but didn't use them. I'd rather pay too much money to a guy who can play than too much to a guy who can't.

Why not Use Transition Tag on Gilmore
Chuck Wagon replied to Stussy109's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's the thing that's infuriated me the most with this franchise over the last 2 decades. Our needs (a QB, a #1-#2 WR, a RT, etc) are never addressed, but we continually use high draft resources on defensive backs only to allow every single one to walk into free agency. It's the definition of insanity. But hey, he can't tackle and we'll get a 3rd round pick as long as we sign no other free agents. Or Marlon Humphrey or Sidney Jones, pick your poison. -

"With the 10th pick in the 2017 NFL draft, the Buffalo Bills select Marshon Lattimore, cornerback, Ohio State" And the carousel keeps going around and around. -

That and letting Gilmore walk then using a high draft pick on a corner are the most Bills moves possible in this offseason.

Mangold has no interest in being a Bill, that's all I'll say about that.

If you look at the DEs who played in McD's scheme last year in Carolina, Ragland's size measures up comparably. Saban used him as a nickle DE with his hand in the dirt. Granted college is a different animal, but the amount of posters on here who know more about football than Nick Saban is pretty comical.
